Thanks Steve just replaced the thermostat in my 10 year old Whirlpool for about $12.00 with shipping! It's purring nicely in the kitchen and the temperature is dropping. Once again thanks for your help.
How do we diagnose it to get up to that point ? My Freezer is only working intermittently and when it fails , the refrigerator temp jumps also. Seems to happen whenever some food product is added to the freezer. First started happening when we really loaded it up, Thanks. Also where can I get these parts affordably in Canada ?

Is it safe to use a compatible replacement part with aluminum wiring connected to the original copper wiring?

Does this model have a defrost timer? or is the wired thermostat all I need? I have ice on the back wall too.
