Shaq is actually making a lot of sense. In many situations he was just bigger and stronger than his opponents and the refs had another set of rules for him. About never throwing a bow, though, he's full of shit. Watch the finals against the Sixers. He had his elbows out while spinning on many occasions. He hit Mutombo in the face so hard and so often that I'm shocked he had no concussion.
i think both things can be true. I think he did throw bows, but i don't think he threw bows to injure people.

The correct assessment is that He did not throw illegal bows...but he threw them intentionally..he wouldn't do it in a way to get an offensive foul so he had to find opportunities where he can make a basketball move in other to throw it..but of course his intentions were to throw bows within the rules

Shaq didn't throw his elbows to make people bleed like sometimes Karl Malone did after a rebound, but Shaq knew that gave him the advantage. Even running into it or having your face turned when he spins, you're knocked out. He's too strong, even when he isn't trying.

toe be fair, if Reggie could still make the shot whilst throwing his leg out, that's an extraordinary skill, and it isn't hurting anyone, so it's on the defenders to deal with it. A foul is a foul whether he kicks the leg out or not!
Shaq you straightened your elbow (it's parallel with the floor) and when you turned your body it hit them right in the chest and they go flying backwards I've seen the clip many times. When the entire crew laughs at you saying you didn't throw the elbow, you threw the elbow.

Dick Bavetta ( retired ref ) admitted that they didn't know how to referee Shaq when he first came to the league. Listen to what Shaq is saying. He is making a normal basketball move. Should he be penalized for doing what is a normal move for him because he is bigger and stronger? Yes a lot of those bows went through defenders but it is hard to call a foul on him because he is bigger and stronger. This segment is actually very interesting with regards hoe bigvmen are officiated.
