I still think C'thun has the most unique personality for a boss. He doesn't try to be cocky or super hardcore like 99% of the other bosses. He just calmly whispers that you and your friends won't survive in his temple.
When I first flew over it, when Cata came out, I was actually kind of creeped out by it... It seems to empty, yet I know it isn't... It feels like something could still be down there, lurking, waiting for everyone to forget and close their eyes.
This is the most beautiful piece of music in wow. It's just so mystical, deep, and frightening in the same time. It really grabs you at your heart and makes you feel you are there in the desert and something is watching you. You can almost see a movie in front of you. You are both a bit afraid confused, but still fueled by the magical mixture of the excitement by exploration and courage. Just wonderful!
Just imagine it... walking thru Silithus... tired, starving... no food or water around for miles... you and your party enter the temple of an Old God. He feeds on your mortal weakness ... he gave you flesh... he knows you are tired.. weak.. feeds on your fear of not prevailing... your friends, you start to see their wicked ways... greed, hatred... deception... it all beings to over whelm you as the ambience intensifies as you fall to his MADNESS.... C’thun: “You are already dead”
I keep coming back to this... I can hear his voice randomly uttering one of his obscene comments as i will be doing something... and then I will think about this video... and I come to it... Haunting me... I hear the whispers of an Old God, would that make me a member of Twilight Hammer? A slave to Cho'Gall as he tries to usher in the end of the world? I wonder...
C'thun: "Your heart will explode." "You are weak." "You are already dead." "You will betray your friends." "Your courage will fail." "Your friends will abandon you." Yag'saron: "A thousand deaths, or one murder." "Your petty quarrels only make me stronger." "Tell yourself again that these are not truly your friends." "Trust is your weakness." "They are coming for you." "Give in to your fear."
I had my internet cut off... and during the four days that it was shut off... I had terrible terrible nightmares... I was swimming in a sea of bones... and I happened upon a skull who looked somewhat like my friend. as I thought that.the flesh of my hands and arms fell of... and warmed around the skull I screamed in agony and as I did so did the faces of my friends and family all of whom would periodicly stop to lap up the blood pouring from my wounds I missed you song don't eve leave me again.
Although I have never run this raid at 60, I think it's one of the best instances in the game. It does get a lot of hate though and I can see why, but the atmosphere and feeling of walking into this ancient temple to fight these huge Egyptian statues and the Ahn'Quira insect creatures is amazing. All leading up to the final fight with C'Thin is pretty cool. I wish I could experience the opening of Ahn'Qiriaj though. Vanilla servers. Lets do it Blizz.
A short story, for those so inclined to read while listening to this masterpiece: In the searing heat of Silithus, Nekari, an orc shaman, stood before the imposing, sand-swept gates of Ahn’Qiraj. The monumental stone doors bore intricate glyphs, flickering ominously with an alien luminescence. Echoes of a forgotten past whispered on the wind. This was a place of ancient power and of an ancient evil: the Qiraji and their god, C’Thun. Nekari breathed in the arid air, tasting the sand and the latent arcane energy. The earth beneath her bare feet hummed with whispers, ancient spirits troubled by the resurgence of the Qiraji. Clad in the rugged hide armor of her people, and with her totems slung across her back, she took her first step into the fortress. Ahn’Qiraj was a labyrinth of chiseled sandstone, the narrow, winding corridors filled with an echoing silence that seemed almost louder than the battle cries she was used to. The etched hieroglyphics shimmered with a spectral light, their meanings as inscrutable as the alien minds that had created them. Skittering sounds in the shadows announced the presence of the Silithid, insectoid minions of the Qiraji. Nekari moved carefully, calling upon her spirit guides to cloak her in their protective embrace. She used the element of surprise to dispatch her enemies swiftly and silently, her axes singing through the air. But Ahn’Qiraj’s trials were more than just physical. The deeper Nekari ventured, the stronger she felt C’Thun’s oppressive presence, a malign consciousness that sought to erode her will. Images of her darkest fears and past failures surfaced in her mind, each a needle seeking to undermine her resolve. Nekari gritted her teeth, calling on her spirit guides, drawing strength from the resilience of stone, the flexibility of water, the fury of fire, and the freedom of air. She clung to the primal forces of the world, anchoring herself amidst the psychic storm. The architecture of Ahn’Qiraj began to warp and twist, growing more organic. Nekari found herself in vast caverns studded with pulsating growths that cast an eerie glow across twisted flesh-like walls. The air was thick with an otherworldly hum, the heartbeat of an Old God. Ahead, in a cathedral of flesh and bone, squatted the monstrous form of C’Thun, an abomination of writhing tentacles centered around a massive, baleful eye. Despite her dread, Nekari stepped forward, her axes raised. The spirits of the elements buzzed around her, a shield against the torrent of psychic energy C’Thun sought to break her with. “For the Horde,” she whispered, charging forward into the maw of madness. And so, the battle commenced, a test of body, mind, and spirit within the haunted heart of Ahn’Qiraj. Regardless of the outcome, tales of Nekari’s brave assault on the Old God would echo in the hallowed halls of Orgrimmar, inspiring new generations of Horde heroes.
_No, that's just it, we know nothing about them, that's what makes them scarier, we don't know what they can do, what they're capable of, _*_what they've made_*_._ _Mystery = Fear = Badass Villains._
I find the musical scores in both Ahn'Qiraj and Naxxramas the most unsettling music ever heard in an fantasy game. Blizzard really needs to start making their raids more epic like the ones from Vanilla. The new raids just don't have that same feeling you get from entering older raids. I also wished that Blizz brought back intense 40 man raids. They are just so awesome and they feel really cryptic and spooky. Bring back Ahn'Qiraj pls, we miss it :'(
The pinnacle of vanilla wow... and perhaps the golden age of the entire game. At this point the game was well balanced in pve and pvp content. The lore was lived by players whether you knew about or not. The sense of scale of the world and the collective effort by your server community and social status was unparalleled. --- General Dragunov
Dragunov38 dude the game was wonderful back then...but it was by no means balanced in PVE or PVP...there were whole talent trees that were unused by virtually everyone unless you were just picking up off spec pieces out of sheer luck... I miss it tho. thats why i always play vanilla wow pservers
While you are referring to a part of the game about class mechanics and abilities, it is true that the game had certain talent trees that they were not popular at the time. However there were players pioneering play styles with these unpopular specs and abilities builds, I personally met players that had success in both pve and pvp environments. My statement was directed to the part of the balance in the game content and not mechanics. The vast amount of players aiming to excel at PVE , PVP or both at this time was a personal testament, because of the server community from within. It allowed players to be recognized among each other and this trigger a sense of pride to reach the highest levels of gear, honor ranks, raid boss kills, etc.
C'thun seems to be weaker than Y'saajr (I am never sure how to type it T_T) but he was much creepier than that second one, also Yogg Saron is scary ;_;
There is 2 possibilities,1. Our boy C'thun was killed by the sword, or, 2. He is free as fuck (and because we can hear near the sword some strange sounds coming from the deep, and that makes me think about him)
is it me or does c'thun sound like the G-MAN from halflife 2 o.O haha at 1:14 when he says "you are already dead" was expecting a "Dr freeman" to finish it.

Chris sims The cool thing is that Yag'sarron does the exact same thing....it's only when he reveals himself that he becomes super crazy...lol
BOW DOWN BEFORE THE GOD OF DEATH!!-Yogg-Saron

Homage to H.P. Lovecraft, the master of cosmic horrors. May our souls be released from madness.
Our souls remain in the hands of the Old Gods, in the end, we will serve them for all eternity.
6:32 my mind's slowly slipping into madness...

This music has burned itself into a lot of people heads. Just legendary.

Silithus was the place where i lost my virginity
Ik I'm late but damn that was good.

Oh the eldritch horrors that await us in WoW.
C'thun: "Your heart will explode." "You are weak." "You are already dead." "You will betray your friends." "Your courage will fail." "Your friends will abandon you."
Yag'saron: "A thousand deaths, or one murder." "Your petty quarrels only make me stronger." "Tell yourself again that these are not truly your friends." "Trust is your weakness." "They are coming for you." "Give in to your fear."
Yogg'Saron, not Yag'Saron.

I kinda hate that they have messed about with the canon of the Old Gods.
_I kinda wish the Old Gods were in place of the Void Lords._
Yeah, I think the Old Gods should be the ultimate "evil" and not pawns of the Void Lords.
_I KNOW RIGHT?!_
Well, we don't know anything about the Void Lords yet. Who knows, they might become much more scary.
_No, that's just it, we know nothing about them, that's what makes them scarier, we don't know what they can do, what they're capable of, _*_what they've made_*_._

Y'Shaarj was the most powerful old god.
There is 2 possibilities,1. Our boy C'thun was killed by the sword, or, 2. He is free as fuck (and because we can hear near the sword some strange sounds coming from the deep, and that makes me think about him)
yogg saron and cthun were already slowly waking up
