      If I wash at night I put my hair in a loose pineapple and a bonnet. My hair falls out of the pineapple in the back so the bonnet catches those. My bonnet is probably too big because my hair doesn't stay on top of my head in the bonnet without putting it up.

      I tried a bonnet on Amazon and was so annoyed because it’s too small and squished my curls ugh - also it was double lined … so it was so stuffy in there!! So now I pineapple! Silk pillowcase too!

    Speaking from experience: DO NOT SLEEP ON WET HAIR like Gena said! When I 1st switched to night time washing, I was an air dry person. So after styling, I'd be up for another 30 min, maybe an hour, but my hair dries very slowly, and an hour of air drying was literally almost nothing. I'd lay my hair carefully behind me over my pillow and sleep on my back. Due to neck injuries, I actually stay on my back the whole night, I don't move, it's like my body knows not to or it aggravates my injuries. Anyhow, this means that the entire under layer of my hair would be wet in the morning still. Very wet. I did this for a little over 3 years. I ended up with hygral fatigue in that layer - the REAL hygral fatigue is not simply moisture overload. Hygral fatigue is when the outer layer of your hair has been FULLY compromised. I had irreversible damage throughout most of the layer. It's been about 18 months & heavy TLC & several cuts later, I'm finally seeing improvement. I actually have curl coming back underneath, though the bottom most bits are still highly damaged as the damage from hygral fatigue can move up the shaft, causing extremely high porosity even in areas that weren't compromised due to hygral fatigue. Hygral fatigue is damage caused by repeated swelling of the hair shaft, and highly damaged hair can be printed to it because after the wetting done by washing, the cuticle may have a hard time closing back down. My hair wasn't damaged on it's own, but rather sleeping on it wet damaged it. My hair remained swelled open for several hours almost daily (I used to wash my hair almost every day🤦🏽‍♀️). So PLEASE do not sleep on wet hair!!

      I’m am truly glad people found a dryer they love! Personally, I found it loud, heavy, blows too hot and too hard on the low settings, and, as you mentioned, no cool setting! And I prefer my Orchid Diffuser. The original Dyson omitted it too, so I can only assume they copied it to the letter and that’s why. They didn’t notice they added it later on. Only in models made in the last 2 years have they manufactured them with a zero heat full time setting. I had an earlier one I bought in 2019, one of the pink and gun metal ones, and the lowest setting was one light, and I returned it. For me, that was a dealbreaker, because my T3 has an always on coolshot which is the best, because you can quickly go back and forth.

    Omg I need to look into that bonnet. It is so hard for me to find a bonnet that isn't too big for my hair, so I often just put my hair up in a half-pineapple. Only only issue with bonnets and caps is that I don't like things over my ears when I sleep, which does make it harder to keep on my head. I'm a light sleeper, and having something over my ears makes things echo and keep me awake.

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  2 роки тому +1

      It’s the most comfortable one I’ve tried because it doesn’t have an elastic rim!
      Also, I can’t stand anything over my ears either so I put it behind them. It stays on for me which is surprising since the only elastic is on the back area

    What are your thoughts about silk vs. satin? I sleep on a satin pillowcase and I really like it. Is silk better?

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  2 роки тому +1

      I like them both! Satin is more affordable and is a type of weave versus a material. Satin is usually made from a synthetic material such as polyester. Silk is a natural material, such as Mulberry silk which is the higher quality. It has a softer feeling, is breathable, and is fast-drying. I've noticed that my satin pillowcases get more snags and worn out after weekly washing, whereas silk holds up. Hope that helps! I could do a video or blog post comparing. It's really just your preference and budget 😊

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  2 роки тому

      That's a great question. Perhaps someone who has experience with this in the comments can chime in. Silk does have a soft, shiny appearance so it's possible. However it seems that a silk bonnet would help protect your hair from breakage that could occur from the strap friction. I would definitely recommend at least a silk pillowcase to reduce friction if you don't already have one.

The thought of all those caterpillars being boiled alive in their coccoon, never even becoming the butterfly they worked so hard for...I just hate the thought of that. I sleep on quality satin, it works great for me. I've heard good reviews about bamboo too. I don't think the results differ much, but it's cheaper and cruelty free. @GenaMarie  2 роки тому

      Boar bristle brushes come from the hairs of boars, an animal. They create the most tension on the hair, which creates good clumps. However, they can also cause breakage for fine hair or damaged hair due to the rough texture and the tension. For those that don't want to use products sourced from animals and/or want a potentially less damaging brush, a vegan bristle brush like the Brioegeo one is made from synthetic material but has a similar design.
