Diagnosing Electrical Gremlins and Upgrading the Brakes on my 1966 Ford Bronco! Dual Reservoir!

- My 1966 Ford Bronco half cab has been sitting neglected since last summer and I've got a shelf full of parts to install on it so lets see if we can resolve some of the issues we found with it on our first test drive and maybe even make an upgrade or 2 along the way! I don't really want to let this thing go but if someone thinks it's worth $20,000 and has the cash. It could be yours! As always, thanks for watching!

The one thing that drives me f***ing nuts is guys who will just hit you up with "What's the lowest you will take?" I have always said cash talks and bullshit walks. If you gotta ask what the lowest someone will take without even looking at it, then you aint even got it in the budget to get a horse and buggy.
If I'm selling a minibike and someone asks "how low will I go?" I say about 2 mph, and it will fall over. If I don't have money, I don't even ask.
I disagree. It's called negotiating a deal. It would be stupid not to negotiate for a better deal, even if you got the money to pay full asking price. Most people who ask the question "what's the lowest you'll take" is either cutting to the chase, or don't want to make a lower offer in fear of offending the seller. It's just a negotiation tactic. You can simply say, make me an offer, or I'm not budging from asking price.
@@ironcladranchandforge7292 Asking someone to immediately put all their cards on the table is the opposite of negotiating.
@@kw9849 -- Not necessarily. The seller might give a lower price, but not necessarily the lowest price. Most times it's just a starting place to negotiate further in my experience. By the way, I've owned (or bought) over 86 vehicles in the last 40 years. Well, I lost count at 86. I know it's a lot more. So negotiating the price of a vehicle is something I've done a lot of, LOL......
Standard Answer: "What's the most you will pay?" That helps the IDIOTS understand that I gave them a price, and it's their turn to make an offer, then we can go back and forth as long as it takes to get to DEAL, or a walk away.
Lets see the 64 wagon get going!! Trade you a Yee-Hawl??
I sure miss my station wagon. Wish those would make a comeback.
Monday Morning Mortske and Late Night with Puddin'... Looks like my schedule is booked for the day!
Mortske hates Fords so much he owns about 800 of them.
Remember when he said ya know Jesus was a Ford man he walked everywhere he went lmao
@@keyhook4039 now that's funny shit, right there. LMAO
Great episode, looking forward to more on the bronco. Don't beat yourself up on thinking you're not giving enough content. You're doing two full time jobs and we appreciate everything you produce. Thanks bud!
Thanks for commenting and watching!
I always liked old Broncos, and especially that one. The first engine I tore down was one of those in shop class back in around '75. I think it was the little brother. The 170 or something. Same block. I now drive a '66 Falcon. I laughed when you said you had wiring gremlins. There aren't enough wires for that.
I love that you show real life low-cost wrenching! No sponsor supplied kit of exactly what you need, no extra hands waiting to hold the fuel tank. No fancy brake line bending tool. Keep up the great work!
I like that he acts normal and does not put on a show like some do to try to be funny
Yes.. no sponsor crap trying to sell you something like all the other ones on here ! Just a down to earth guy…
@Travis Smith lol
Duff would like to remind us all that he does all of the heavy lifting on this channel.
Don"t be too hard on us "old guys", Mortske (I'm 84). Sometimes we forget that other folks are busy. I sit here and watch videos because I'm not able to do much else. I used to love fooling around with my cars. Love your videos. Keep up the good work, Buddy.
Just as I was despairing of any good videos this morning Mortske swoops in to save the day. I'm glad I can still count on something in these uncertain times.
I'd like to see more on the Bronco. Bring it back to being a going to town rig without losing the shop.
No need to apologize for this video, I found it highly entertaining and informative. Each video that you produce is very much appreciated and looked forward to. You give new meaning to Monday morning for us. I look forward to seeing more done on this old Bronco.
I appreciate that!
Absolutely!
Could not agree more. I’ve enjoyed you shooting the breeze and drinking beer. Doesn’t matter to me how much you get done. Your videos are always great!
I agree here. This was actually a good video brother. Do rockers and a tailgate, match them good as you can scuff it and matte clear it.
Duff is literally the HAPPIEST dog I've ever seen - and that includes Cody at Camerata's.
I hate that EVERY used vehicle is missing the cat converter, and half of them have some shady 3rd party title.
CAT's worth more then some of the cars these days. Crazy.
cat's are overrated I am a dog guy🤣 Sorry had to say it.
@@deadmantalkin7505 cats and a full tank is 10k easy lol.
I hate that cats plug up when my piece of shit is pouring oil and coolant into em. If I got into the habit of fixing things that were going bad... I'd have like, 4 nice cars or something...
(Kinda sarcasm, kinda not)
Because if I sell the car to the scrapyard, it’s worth $400. Scrap the cat for $400 first, then scrap the car for $200 now that it’s missing the cat. Just made $600 instead of $400 lol.
And 3rd party title piss me off too. I buy/fix/sell cars/trucks. I refuse to purchase a vehicle if it’s an “open” title without a SOLID explanation. “I bought it to fix and resell” or “it broke down on me before I could register it, now I’m selling it because I cannot afford to fix it” MIGHT pass as acceptable. It would have to be a DAMN good deal to buy with an open title.
Every single vehicle I sell, is registered in my name. Usually because I own/drive them for a while before they get sold off. I hate curbstoners/title jumpers.
Who in their right mind would not play w/wiring? It’s a right of passage to burn up the harness. My 72 C20 has survived 28 years of my constant ignorance while playing w/wiring. You know it’s fun delving into the unknown.
You’re #1 in my book
When I was in high school I worked for a couple hours after school as a janitor. My boss had a bronco and one day I needed a ride home so he dropped me off. I'm here to tell you the gas smell was so bad it would get you drunk. I said what the hell is wrong with it and he said I don't know it's always smelled like that. Well I crawled under it looking around and the entire top I mean the entire top of his gas tank had rusted off. The scariest thing about all this is he smoked cigarettes like a coal train. It's a wonder he didn't blow himself to the moon with that thing.
The first Bronco in orbit. To think he got there decades before Elon Musk did ! Cool Beans!
Sketchy!
@@MortskeRepair Naw... just a good old F O R D
Also, I think we all would definitely love to see a few episodes of you getting this thing lookin' good and running great
Got it!
@@MortskeRepair YEAH... WHAT HE SAID !
Even more ditto
almost 100,000 subscribers...good for you. keep up the great videos.
Thanks Brian!
Mortske, you don't have to apologize for the content! Regardless of the project, you make it entertaining. I would imagine most of us subscribers see the different vehicles as "a work in progress"...like Brent does on his Halfass Kustoms. I personally like to follow the progress to completion. Thanks for the time and effort you (and Duff) put into making the videos. I appreciate and enjoy the content my friend!
I love listening to your videos while I’m working on my junk. Makes me feel like I have a friend with me in the shop. Thanks for the killer content Mortske and Duff.
I'm amazed by your knowledge and your seemingly endless patience, Mortzke. I hate responding to an ad .. and NEVER getting a response because 1,000 other people that can't afford it have exhausted the seller by asking if it's still for sale.
Wholey cow. A 2 hour episode. A shiney beacon of light in an otherwise cloudy world. Thx!!!
The wiring on that Bronco was a nightmare. You've shown a lot of patience. The Duff embossed Hurst shifter is a nice touch. Did'nt know you could get a custom service like that.
Love seeing how excited Duff gets at the beginning of the video. Great dog.
Hot Damn! A new Mortske & Duff to make my Monday. Thank You!
Mortske’s humor and all the cut scenes make this channel great! 😆👌🏻😎
Thanks for the Mortske Monday! Thanks to Chin for the great editing job. Good luck 🐾🍺
Everytime I watch your videos, something gets better every time.
Electrickery hours of endless fun for all the family!
I lost track counting how many valuable tips and lessons you provided in this video. Just keep on doing what you do best...and don't change anything.
Cheers!
Thanks!
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
This type. of content is very helpful for the ones just trying get get a project back on the road. I'm sure many get discouraged by the shows that do high budget restorations. I've done quite a few low budget "fix what's there" "scuff & shoot "cars over the years. That's the original spirit of the car hobby. Don't be discouraged. Thanks for the great content .
Thanks John!
I am a fan of the Bronco project. I vote to keep it coming. Thanks for the entertainment.
Our pleasure!
I would totally watch a series of videos about the restoration of this beauty! :)
I am pretty sure by the smile on Duff's snout, he loves that Bronco! Duff and I want to see you do a full transformation on that Bronco. Lots of parts and even more time but it will be worth it in the end.
I don’t understand a lot of the car jargon you throw out there, but that’s not why I watch. You are knowledgeable and experienced, and you clearly work incredibly hard. The things you can get done after work throughout the week is far more than most people have the motivation to do in a couple months (or longer). As long as you still enjoy fixing these old cars, I’ll enjoy watching you do so. Please just don’t burn out trying the make the viewers happy.
Much appreciated!
I've never have sold a vehicle because I'm usually the last owner. I do sympathize with you over time-wasters thought. Again, I thank you for another excellent show. But one thing bothers me. One day Duff is gonna answer you back and you're gonna drop a heavy tool on your foot so be prepared. Keep up your fine work.
Mortske, no apologies needed. Your content is always good. For example, you haven't had an engine fire in some time, and I was sure that was about to change when the fuel was spraying out of it while you were trying to reconnect the line. Never a dull moment. Remember, it doesn't matter how you get it done, as long as you're havin fun
We were trying real hard!
Almost 2 hours of video seems like plenty of content to me, I don’t know how you manage to do it. Keep up the great work.
Those old Broncos are highly collectible right now, Great brake work, and Duff is doing Quality Control, checking your work,,,Cool
That truck is great. Another good video, keep up the great work.I would love to have one of these babies.
Oh hell yes i love this build!
Simple machines, simple mechanics anyone can do!
This one could have been a pay-per-view, with the battle of the fuel tank strap drama. Good job Mortske,
Can't all be piss and glory. Anyone who ever wrenched a project can relate to your predicament. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see more of the bronco
That flare tool is pretty freakin' fancy!
Lots of parts, lots of steps, but (like you said) if you do that kind of work alot.
I like how there is no battery or air line hooked to it.
I love your positive attitude about the pinched wire. At least it helped uncover other things that needed fixing.
Cracking show as always, cheers Duff and his thumed partner in crime.
Discovered you recently and enjoy the videos. I am the son of a Ford Mechanic and raced of Ford Fiesta back in the day. I was one of those prententious road racers. Retired from that a few years back and became a goat farmer, as people do. Sort of the natural progression, but I digress. I tend to be pretty cheap with my cars and it has been years since I bought anything new. That also means, when something gets sold, it usually is not a high-buck sale so that seems to attract some quality citizens. I tend to put an add together that is pretty honest (to a fault) and complete, so when the guy (usually a guy, isn't it?) does not bother to read the add, that really pisses me off. Also, the guy that just messages you a low ball offer without even taking the time to come and look at it. If I do not ignore them, and the question is what is your best price, I will double my asking price. When they react, I tell them, well that is MY best price. Again, enjoy what you are doing. Take care!
Great work! I like how persistent you were with the brakes and wiring. Those old Broncos are unobtainum!
All your videos are great. Don't apologise for awesome work. You certainly make my life better.
Thanks!
Loving the non obligatory weekly content! Thanks for all your hard work and editing!
I didn't know you cared about brakes!
Much appreciated!
It’s not just you, the brake lines are well bent and looks good! Good work! 👍
Thanks Bruce!
Love watching you work on the Bronco. Keep up the good work. Hope to see it in Mint condition some day.
I like all your videos. Brakes, electrical, suspension, pressure washing, and cooling system repair. Keep um coming.
Thanks, will do!
I’d watch a series on fixing up the old bronco billy. The will it run’s are good, but seeing the odd project get done, or at least doner is nice once in awhile too.
Yeah, it would be good to hear the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey used to say.
I think this video is FINE, your high standards speak well of you, though. I was tickled to see you on a shop tour - all work and no play, etc. Thanks for making such consistently good content, always worth a watch!
Hi Mortske and Duff. Great stuff as always. The wiring didn't look too good, but you got there in the end. Duff enjoyed himself when he went for a ride. Again thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Cheers Chris.
Mate, a '67 Bronco is my dream car but living here in Australia, not a ton of them even exist. I would love to see everything you do with this car because it's an absolute gem.
Awesome! Electrical troubleshooting is always useful.
It sure is!
Thanks for another good video! This is like... 30 weeks in a row or something now. Making Mondays less shitty
Would love to see more of the Bronco. As far as things that drive me nuts, people who have unrealistic ideas of what they think the car setting in the woods behind their house (that they are never going to touch) is worth. Ask them how much they're looking to get and they price it like it's a completed nut and bolt restoration.
Im ready for more Bronco content. Bring that. I've had mostly positive buying experiences from FB marketplace and craigslist in the past. Selling is another matter. Love it when people start off asking if you'll take 50% of your asking price or start by telling you that your product is a pos and they can get better for cheaper all day long.
Definitely would like to see a scuff and shoot. No need to go all out, would way too expensive. Great project, would like to see it again. Projects or will it starts, doesn't matter. Keeps me entertained while I save up for parts.
I think this is a great video, you could not have gotten all that done without Duff! The worst part of buying and selling is dealing with people.
That's why I have a dog instead!
I have a 1995 F150 with only 29000 miles And I’ve got a lot accomplished on it from these videos so thank you I appreciate everything you do and I’m sure everyone else does
Nice! Thanks Garrett!
I'd really enjoy seeing you get this back to looking gooder and painted up.
Great episode, love the long ones! Duff dog is a great companion, and my son who watches with me loves Duff!
awesome!
Yes, more vids of the Bronco, please! It's a cool vehicle!
Watching you not drop that tank reminded me of working by myself in the shop with a transmission on my chest on the creeper and not able to move so I rolled it off of me and on to the floor gently. I did balance it on the floor jack going back in though. Your content is exceptional. Can't wait for the next one. Thank You!
Fun times
I like the troubleshooting / problem solving, and comedy of the added clips , plus there are tips and tricks that can be learned. Puddins channel has similar qualities. Also you and Duff .... Video after video with all those attributes leads us to an evolving character that we become familiar with.
Glad you enjoy em!
Thank You Mortske, Duff and Chin!! The content on this channel is all ways the best!!
Our pleasure!
Your videos are educational and entertaining.
I'll watch every one,as long as you are enjoying making them.
Much appreciated John!
Need to see a whole rebuild series on this bronco!
I love the long videos like this there so entertaining and educational to young people like me
Glad to hear it Jordan!
I like your channel and how you address the safety items on the vehicles. The young guys need to know that the brakes , steering, etc are not glamorous but need to be repaired adequately. Showing how to split the brake lines for a dual master is very usefull and not too difficult after you show us how. I still see classics in shows with single Master cylinders. A necessary mod in my book.
Hey Duff my dog likes stinky critters too!
Right on
Ah, Mortske! It was still good content. And MamaCard really needed you to cheer me up today. Found out my Son-in-law has a pituitary tumor & been crying my eyes out with worry. Thanks for helping me through the night.
I hope all is well Carole!
don't apologize for anything, great content and great episode. love the old bronco and would be cool to see it back in its prime.
You don't need to apologize for working on the Bronco. I really liked what you have done and I am looking forward to seeing more on it.
Perfect video, fixing up the old Bronco and showing us how to save a few bucks and hours along the way!
I thought it was great content! Tracking/fixing wiring is never glamorous but it is essential! That straight 6 sounds fantastic!
Great job Mortske!!
I loved this week's video Mortske!! Nothing wrong with having a life outside of UA-cam crap happens we all understand!
Love that year bronco! Can;t wait to see you paint it! Gonna be a cool ride.
I think the bronco build is frkn rad , only on this channel can you find a duff in the passenger seat and the floor at the same time ,👍 awesome
At the 50 minute mark I find it hilarious to see how intense Duff is in watching you use the Kroil can for the bending tool.....Like he could do that without thumbs... great vid!
😁
Not a ford guy but that bronco could be really good. I’d like to see more on it. I enjoy whatever content you give us. Won’t be long and you’ll hit that 100k. That’s awesome!
Right on
I never go anywhere without my Brittany. I've had one since 1984. And each one had a heart on her somewhere.
Great video, no need to apologize, you and visegripgarage are my top 1 and 2 on UA-cam, keep up the awesome content! Really enjoy watching all you content.
I appreciate that!
I’ve said it before, you always supply good content, no need for apologies, ever. Cheers.
Always a good vision with Mortske
Another round with a fan blade pretty well broke even on this bout ☺️
Had a win with not burning the shop down when the fuel gusher put flammables all over a running motor 👍
Got lucky!
There was nothing good to watch until old Mortske popped up thank God keep up the great work
Thanks Billy!
I'd enjoy tagging along with Duff Dog and you flushing a few pheasants on one of your test drives in a future video! Take your favorite bird gun with y'all of course!
You're doing a great job, hell , Puddin's here every week! Thanks guys.
I enjoy the tips tricks and technology l like build’s restoration upgrades but what I really enjoy admire and appreciate is the struggles perseverance and honesty of what is involved with working older or neglected vehicles
Glad you enjoy them!
Don't ever apologize for taking you time instead of filming for us. Everyone needs time off. Love the Bronco and would love too see more of it. Keep up the great work!
Keep it up with the bronco. Love to see you finish it and show use folks how you do it.
We have all had those weeks working on vehicles. Keep them coming man. Looking forward to seeing more.
Cool rig!! You should definitely keep it and fix it up. I can see you and Duff hunting with this rig.
Excellent video buddy, you’re doing great, love the bronco and hope to see it again soon👍 Keep up the good work!!
Thanks Harald!
Fighting ng to hold the tank up was like watching Indian Jones escape an ancient trap. Your my hero Mort!
I hate snakes!!!
I feel this was a great video you showed a lot of quality work and real world issues of working on these old cars and trucks. The good thing about this video is it shows it is one thing to get a old truck/car started and able to run around the block and it is a whole different world to make it a daily driver. I feel you on the electrical Gremlins I got a old 68 f250 full of cuts and splices. I lucked out and found a complete wire harness for the whole truck out of a wrecked one for a good price. It is one of the new after market ones with new style fuse box but seeing how they even removed my fuse box and stock wire harness for these are impossible to find I figured this was best route. Now I just have to install it all yeah can't wait. Anyways Great work Outstanding content and keep it up. Thanks Dave
Those harnesses are hard to find these days!
Loving the content…more talking! The rambling is what really makes you the most watchable of this type of channel…way better than most!
Thanks for the feedback Adam!
So what going on with the hotrods hidden back in the shop? Keep up the great work yall. HalfAss is also a great channel, thanks for the recommendation. As for content, that's how it goes, its not always easy and simple. This is what we have to deal with in the real world.
Flakey buyers grind my gears
Just hangin out back there
Love watching the videos. I like watching the frustration. We have all been there and these are the things that all of have dealt with working on stuff.
Always look forward to your vids Mortske, always, always entertaining and informative. Cheers.
We'll watch, my dad and I helped my cousin restore a 77 Bronco back in the 90s, it was a fun project to work on.
Would love to see you finish the bronco they are so cool you don't see many of the half cab models.
