    Exactly. I wish I would have known to change all of these when I changed my belt. having to change them now because the 5th gear seal is leaking. I chose to carefully split and replace the race instead of pulling it.

    Best video on UA-cam about these seals. Just did them all on my 97 Electra glide. Many thanks for posting the video

    It's common for the inner races to stick tight enough to break pullers, and the fix for that is to (after doing a good job with painters tape and plastic to mask the tranmission) carefully slit the inner race WITHOUT nicking the shaft then split it with a NARROW SHARP cold chisel. A Jims or Baker bearing solves the silly inner race problem for good.

    thank you so much on this topic... i have a 1990 FXRP and have a oil leaking problem that is on going for years and replaced this seal a few times. i never knew or saw the O-RING behined the bearing race and that seal on the shaft behined the race too ... i will look for that too...

      You’re welcome! Good luck. I just knew there wasn’t really much info on it. I should have shown it in better detail but I remember I was WAY tired.

    Some parts books don’t show the quad seal oring because the early ones didn’t use it. It’s one of those Harley things.

    Dude ... thank you very much for this video, I'm about to work on a huge leak on my 1994 FLSTN that appears to be from the main shaft seal, but since I will get it opened up, might as well change them too ... thank you man! ... by the way ... may I please ask how many miles this bike had on when it started this leak? ... thank you again and take care,

      Aris Goorji no problem. I can’t tell you how many miles are on it because before she got at the odometer and everything was changed but I’m pretty sure there’s a lot of miles on it. Probably over 50,000.

      Quad seal 11165 I believe. That’s what I’m seeing on Ronnies microfiche.

    Great video....ran into same problem with manual not showing seals. Did you use special tool to install 5th gear or quad seals?

    • @99Z155
      @99Z155  4 роки тому +1

      Dave B the only special tools I remember using was the pulley nut removal tool and a puller for the bearing race on the tranny shaft. Heated it slightly. To install new race I used canned air upside down to cool the shaft and a piece of pipe to drive the race on.

    awesome video man it deffinately helped, but how did you get the 5th gear seal out?

    • @99Z155
      @99Z155  3 роки тому +2

      I used a hardened pick and a heavy hand. Idk how you’re really supposed to do it.
