THANK YOU for telling people about getting different pads. The stock pads are horrible. Welcome to awesomness. I've had these for almost a year now. I switch between these and the Shp9500 for gaming. I just recently bought the Portapros and I have to say the price to performance is just stupid good. I only use the astro mixamp so i can plug these kind of headphones into it for the ps4. I've learned i don't like fake SS. Its just sounds echoey and like im listening through a tin can. I haven't found a single pair of headphones that sound good with the fake SS. but that's just me. Great review! Glad you finally found these. SHP9500 soubd as good if not better than these with a little less bass than these.
You're totally right! I have the HD668Bs I first hooked up with a Zalman mic (due to budget contraints) and they were amazing, and the flexibility of unhooking them so easily (as you say) and then using the short cable for iPhone (or whatever) was just perfect. I love Superlux, they are just great for us budget/money conscious gamers. Your review sums up their flexibility and great sound signature perfectly. I swapped the original ear cushions for VORCOOL earpads and again just perfect. WHY pay top dollar when you can get top sound and flexibility with these Superlux headphones. Amazing budget headphones for gamers! I added the ModMic 5 later (after the Zalman) when more money was available to me and again these just added to a perfect setup. You review as mentioned sums up the HDs perfectly. On a budget, get these, you won't regret it.
I've used this headset for ~5 years and I can fully recommend it. Not only is it affordable and quite light on your head, but also sounds good and is even quite durable. God only knows I've dropped them to hard floor MANY times during all these years and it still works like a new.
I've been using this headset for over 5 years now (or 4 idk) and I can't go back. They broke last month and I didn't even think about buying different ones.
Thanks to you, I got these and they feel like a cheat code! Found them locally for $20 use them on my PS4. They're not that loud but the clarity and openness makes it so easy to feel the my surroundings and immerse myself in the game. Unfortunately, there is little to no bass response so its hard to "feel" the game but once you put these on, you won't go back. I used to use closed-back headphones for gaming with a mic setup but now I'm going to be using these as my go-tos.
I just replaced my steelseries arctis pros with these in my gaming setup... I modded the headphones a bit more. I removed the wings and replaced them with a detachable self adjusting headband, added brainwavz XL pads in micro suede and went with the v-moda boom Pro mic. All in all the headset cost is £77. Its insane. I have been using them with my steelseries gamedac so I still have all the eq functionality on ps4 as well as chat mix features and the option to add gain. But they work equally well on my pc with a free eq programme. I can now play on WAY lower volume with more clarity in the details. Its gotta be better for my ears in the long run. Highly recommend these.
Instead of the modmic, I actually use the blue snowball mic on my ps4. And I have this headphone plugged into my $70 DAC/amp and now my setup is complete. You should try the SMSL SD793 DAC/amp. It's a good bang for your buck desktop amp.
Keep in mind that this 3.5mm male jack that's sticking out may break after some use. The one on my Superlux HD 681 EVO is starting to break and probably doesn't have much life left in it. To be fair, I've had them for over 2 years but I haven't used them every day during that period.
Hi there, nice and informativ video man, thx a lot. Yesterday I heard me through a lot of headphones (phil collins - easy lover, over and over again to get those little differences) and the hd668b, where in my top3. After comparing I didn't like those AKGs K701 or 702 (for me, very much too high, nearly not noticing the E-Bass line) or Beyerdynamics 880 Pro, 990 Pro (for me, not clear enough, a bit dull, especially with the E-Bass line from the song) not very much. Unfortunatly i couldn't compare those superlux to Philips Fidelio X2 or the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X. So, my big question here, if u don't mind, where u ever able to compare those 3? Or do u have any thoughts about it? thx ps.: I want headphones for music and gaming via a Fiio E10K Olympus
Hello, I have a question: What if I transfer the speakers of my Superlux hd668b headphone to a wireless gaming headset, will I get the same good sound? Do you advise me? I have a gaming headset with many features, but the sound is not good
I was able to snatch the audio technica ad700x in like new condition for $55. Is that a pretty good deal? Also do you think an astro mixamp (only like $30-$40 on ebay) would be a wise addition, as I like to be able to adjust between game/voice volume rather than one general volume slider like ps4 offers. The mixamp also allows you to output 7.1 surround sound if you wish, but I don't know what that will end up sounding like using non astro headphones. The next thing I plan on getting is the modmic 4.0 unidirectional with a mute switch, and since those come with multiple magnet thingies, I can try them out with my m50x as well, so I can have 2 headsets. Mixamp also works with any headphone/headset that uses a 3.5 mm jack.
This review, made me buy these. I cannot BELIEVE these cost the $43 that I paid for them. I replaced the Arctis Pro w/o the Gamedac, which cost $179.99. Those were good, but made my head hurt. Honestly, the HD668B, may outperform them, overall and for way, less. The only bad thing about HD668B is the orginal ear cushions are HORRIBLE. They do have a balanced sound out the box with those ear cushions. Still, I replaced them with some velour ear cushions by Brainwayvz.
Also i would like to add that i think there is better headphone for that price, the isk hf2010 is much better then this hd668b. put brainwav earpads on the isk hf2010 and you will be so happy.
I watched this video with these :D I have tired many headsets. but none of them matched the quality of sound and everything that these give you for this price. They are like the Lamborghini's of headphones if you know what i mean.
1) velour pads are crucial for them Imo, makes them bright, open and amazing for music and serious gaming (positioning, footsteps etc). Leather pads give them too strong bass and darkness. 2). out of the box they need serious clamp force fix. Don`t be affraid to bend top arch, plastic may crack a little but inside are strong metal rods. Just make them comfortable.
I got my 668 B a couple days ago, and yes, the earpads are horrible, beyond horrible, my ears start to hurt after just 30 minutes, a headache after 2, the Pads are almost rockhard, super slim, didn't think about earpads because reviews on the website where I ordered them described them as comfortable, now I know these people can not possibly have ears. I already ordered replacement earpads from the same shop, they were marked as 681 Earpads but they fit the 668 B just fine since it is the same form.
Hey, you convinced me mate! I tried a 681 and it felt great right away. I will buy this one instead. I have a question, I got an Asus Maximus Hero mobo that came with Supreme Fx audio chip and I didn't like the sound I am getting with it. Too much software (Sonic Studio) distortion in the sounds output. Which cheap sound card do you recommend me to buy to get along with this 668 headphone? Thanks a lot!
The question, is this loose enough for the ear? because I am deaf with a cochlear implant on my right ear and I don't like tight around my ear cuz it can damage both cochlear and my ear
Im looking for a headphone for gaming but I don't know what to get. I'm trying to stay under the budget of 150$ and at the same time trying to get a pair of headphones which are comfortable to me (I wear glasses). Is the superlux a good option?
I've been using this headset for over 3 years. I love them. I recommend you change pads before you even try them on with the original ones as mentioned in the video. I also changed the original cable to a "semi-professional" audio cable. I wanted to get the modmic back then but it was out of my budget at the time, but I will probably get it soon. PS: the top head cushions are absolute garbage in my opinion so I did some DIY magic to make them comfier.
Do you know that 668bs are size adjustable? Few people know this actually. You must use a little bit of force. You can change their size quite a bit. And for the highs and bass use eq. Now I have fidelios x2 and 668bs don't fall far behind.
I just bought Astro A50 Gen 3's not two days ago, and they're okay. Not bad, good even, but I have realised I really can't stand the reverb/phasing/is-that-an-aeroplane-flying-high-overhead sound that goes along with the virtual surround they produce and just use the stereo setting instead. I'm definitely starting to question my purchase after seeing this review! Thanks JTL, (seriously) I'll check these out.
If i were to buy these with the zalman mic, would the headphone audio leak into the mic? I am planning to buy these for gaming and frequently use discord to chat with friends.
currently $53.64. Still worth it? I just bought Turtle Beach Stealth 700 for $100and I'm thinking of returning them. They are ok. But honestly I don't care about the Microphone part of it. I don't play online games and I don't want to talk to anybody haha. I play single player games, on my bed and I'd like to be able to enjoy surround sound in games and movies. the thing is I'd like to avoid getting tangled up in wires and accidentally pulling on it if it went all the way to my ps4 and my experience plugging into the DS4 controller is that you can never get enough volume out of it and get occasional clipping... Any thoughts appreciated.
scotter140 I hope you returned them. Haven't seen one negative review on these and I'm a few minutes from ordering them. But definitely spend a few bucks on better pads, if you wanna lay on your bed comfortably then you want your headphones to be comfortable as well, and every reviewer absolutely hates the stock pads( "Garbage" "Terrible" etc.) Go get em lol
Another great video. I have heard of these and I keep hearing nothing but praise for the price point. If I could bring myself to deal with those wires and the headaches of gaming on both consoles. I'm currently using the gen 3 Astro A50s with both base stations. I agree that it is a very pricey measure but Im glad I found out about it through your channel. Looking forward to the Sennheiser hd600 review I have been torn between those and the hd650's for awhile now.
Michael K I've heard alot of people say the 600s are much better than the 650s and vice versa thats gonna be a hard choice! I wish there was a place that I could go to hear the 600s even just once. They are the holy grail of headphones.
themrmikemcd Man me too. I would love to be able to hear both and be able to compare them for myself. Sound is just so subjective so you always want to hear for yourself.
Michael K I wish more people could deal with the wires of headphones because there are so many amazing headphones out there for gaming that have wires and that completely destroy wireless headphones/headsets for sound. like the ones in this video for instance. But hey, everyone has their own needs. Just know there are better more affordable choices with wired.Just beware of upgraditus.....
+Painfully Honest Tech, please answer me.. I bought on gearbest the product SuperLux HD 660, is it good as it seems it is? I like closed headphones..Idk it have 150 impedance and stuff
Do they have better audio than the astro a40s, also i have the razer surround app thing would that be good with this headset this looks good to be honest
Thank you for pointing that out, that they are an open earphones, because I was not sure about that, and I searched and searched and I was not able to find the info Thanks :)
Hey guys, i just bought the superlux hd668b and i was wondering if do we really need to buy the soundcard? Since its not available for shipping in my country so i did not buy them. Edit: this is for mainly gaming on ps4. Do i need soundcard to have better hearing of footsteps?
Have you tried leather ear pads to increase the base? The soundstage might suffer a bit. You can also try the paper towel trick, where you put paper towel behind the stock ear pad liners. You can do one layer or have it folded multiple times. It should tame the treble while increasing the base. Might want to create a little hole into the middle of your makeshift paper towel inserts though
Nice, I just got a new one for free, only need to pay for postage. Yes there are still people out there with this mindset. I was looking for a good used Audio Technica AD500 which has a better cable and cushier padding then the AD500x. Using it on a Steinberg UR22 MK2.
I guess the whole difference in build quality between dedicated gaming headsets and designated audio gear has its roots in the greed of companys wrapping honey around the overall look and feel and less about sound quality in general. All these design aspects and the merch too raise the price lower the quality of parts put into considering high margin. I use my superlux together with a usb condenser mic from auna for all my gaming the MIC-900B is 40 bucks too - ok you need a stand for that mic, grab one from K&M 20+ bucks, another 100$ package :)
How hard is it to replace the ear pads? I've been thinking about getting these and a zalman mic, but not sure how you would hook up the zalman and headphones like these on the ps4. I currently use the hyper x cloud
so what do you mean about the open sound.? Like is it that audible that someone could hear music coming out of them on a train or car? Or does a faint "hard to hear" sound come out?
I am new to open headphones I don't know if it's just me but it seems that whenever I play video games and compare it to my HyperX Cloud Alpha's, the soundstage doesn't seem impressive. Sometimes sound that are further away sound faint with these while it is loud as hell with the Alpha's. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Hi, One question I'm looking headset which can make a stage like 5.1 or 7.1, I assume that I need some mixamp to make it happen with this headset ? Could you recommend something ?
This a little late, but it's called sound stage. Also 7.1 is in what you use, some headphones just say that they can play it. If a pair of headphones say that they have 7.1 it's likely trash.
I have a hd 668 and i must say the ear pads and the head cushion get hard as a rock and extremely unconfortable, im looking for a way to change them for somethinh more confortable.
Yep ditching mine today because I brought a 140 steel series trash ass headset it brought within 6 months and the sound it good but for long gaming it can be uncomfortable trying to fiddle faddle with the headset. Trying a new cheaper setup. While also feeling like shit because I spent so much on a headset
Watching this video while wearing these headphones :) They're great, but for some people they sound too bright, which can be easily fixed with an equalizer.
@@competetodefeat4610 no dude you are wrong. You can improve the sound of the almost all headphones in the market for your taste. Check reddit oratory1990 eq topic.
I know I'm late to this comment threat but I find that using an EQ has become necessary in almost all my listening sessions with any headphones as there's always a couple songs in a playlist that are either more bass or treble heavy depending how it's been mastered. So I fully agree with your comment. A few tiny tweaks with an EQ can make a huge difference
So was you satisfied with the result? I think you mentioned in your review of the Platinum headset that you felt the need to constantly readjust the balance on it. Also there is a sidetone feature on PS headsets, when you can hear your own voice through the headset. I guess it would not be possible with the setup mentioned in this video? This ModMic 5 looks very interesting though regardless, especially with a cardioid mode.
Thank you for the answers! I want to do a similar setup, but with closed headphones I already have. I do have a usb audio that works and I already have a few microphones, but none of them has a mute switch or cardioid mode, so I will probably buy ModMic 5 which looks very promising. Even though there will be no sidetone, which I quite like on my Golds, to be honest.
Can sum1 plzz tell me how to install the vmoda boompros to this. I really want these headphones as my new headsets but I don’t know how to put a mic on
I have the Monophone Modern Retro and just bought the HD668's. The Monoprice is better !! The only reason I bought these is because a friend listen to my Monoprice classics and said the HD668 were better... Yeah right lol. The Monoprice has a much much bigger and open sound and the SQ is about the same.
Alright someone please help, could I attach a 3.5 female to female adapter to the 3.5 mm sticking out of the headset, and then buy the vmoda boom mic for $30 cheaper, and plug it in to the female to female adapter.
Mellow Biped yes it does. Generic driverless usb soundcards works just fine. Just be cautious as some cheaper ones will fail to drive the headphones to optimum level resulting in low audio. The one recommended in this video is one of the best compatible usb card for the PS4.
Sean Ramsey hey sean i just bought the 668b's and was wondering if the sound card is optional? Since the soundcard from the video is not available for shipping to australia so i did not buy it.
yeah love this headset in the uk i bought these for 30 pounds wow ! so got the ear pads for 3 pounds from china . 3 weeks later the pads came . but there are options for 5 bucks on amazon prime which i got also for the sake of time . well for 33 uk pounds i had a good headset i paired it with a snowball for gaming with a heavy stand from maplin for £19 uk pounds . so for £91.98 i had a good desk set up much better than any other set up before and its hard wearing . but ...thats not the best bit ! the best thing is ? i did tell a freind in canada he looked them up and for $9.32 in canada. he bought a pair from amazon a few months ago. he thought i was joking around . when they came and he tried them out . yes he was very surprised . but the after market pads are awesome for long gaming sessions . the best thing is these other popular brand names are good but turtle beach sadly just do not last at this price point . ive had these for 5 months using 5 days a week. an amp might be required but im not desperate to use one. ohms dont matter to me but a sound card will suffice and even a budget pc system will utilise these just fine. dont forget there are sound programs out there to help out with such a budget system . to sum it up. i really like them . yes im convinced . no im not sponsored or talked into giving any info here . but i do enjoy this headset daily . it is worth buying if you do not have a headset . yes it is plastic . but it is metal . theses are not audiophile quality . its the product i use . i do not care for brand names all over my stuff so this is good for that . an alternative is perhaps the steel series with orange rgb lighting cups for comfort and slightly better quality for gaming . priced at around £50 at the moment on ebay new or used with a mic onboard . best regards readers and to you painfully honest tech ;-)) brianpc
I own a PS4 and these headphones. Also, I replaced those awful, stock headphones with some velour ear cushions by Brainwayvz. Then, I bought a 192hz DAC and Converter by Neoteck. Cost $88.10 for all.
I have this and use it for my PS4. I replaced the original ear cushions with some velour ear cushions from Brainwayvz. I saw a difference in sound and comfort.
Why can't one of these gaming headsets just have a USB studio quality mic in it. I have a Samson go mic it's tiny and it sounds amazing for what it is. 10 times better than any headset.
I completely agree.....I love these and you can't beat them for the price
***** you and me both. Between these and the Philips SHP9500 it makes other companies that charge $200-$300 for gaming headsets look like idiots
theJTL agreed
Maybe samson SR850 ?
Yes you can beat them for similar price try Superlux HD-330 + Beyerdynamic velor pads

JP hows the blue snow ball for chat? Also couldn't you plug these into ds4 3.5 mm?
Justin Pullin , it's USB only and the ps4 will recognize it as a desktop microphone. Sounds great.
JP is it possible to mute it? Or would I just have to unplug it from the USB?
Justin Pullin , I just unplug it. I sit close to my ps4 btw so it's just arm's reach.
I've done this same thing.. 668B, SD793II, Blue Snowball.
Keep in mind that this 3.5mm male jack that's sticking out may break after some use. The one on my Superlux HD 681 EVO is starting to break and probably doesn't have much life left in it. To be fair, I've had them for over 2 years but I haven't used them every day during that period.

But definitely spend a few bucks on better pads, if you wanna lay on your bed comfortably then you want your headphones to be comfortable as well, and every reviewer absolutely hates the stock pads( "Garbage" "Terrible" etc.)
Go get em lol
Thanks
+Painfully Honest Tech, please answer me.. I bought on gearbest the product SuperLux HD 660, is it good as it seems it is?
I like closed headphones..Idk it have 150 impedance and stuff
What kind of audio cable should I get with these? 3.5mm male to male?
Does it still worth it to go for this setup instead of a Coolmaster MH751 headset ?
Yeah its worth it
@@OneJutsuMan You think even more than a SHP9500 or a cloud alpha ?
@@LingatsuDesign yeah and look at more superlux headphones. They have a lot
SuperLux HD 668B vs CREATIVE AURVANA LIVE? any suggestion?
thank you
What's your opinion on the Superlux HD681B ?
Is a amp/dac needed to use these headphones with the PS4? Or will a soundcard like the one suggested suffice?
Do they have better audio than the astro a40s, also i have the razer surround app thing would that be good with this headset this looks good to be honest
What would you recommend to replace these in 2018???
does the mic pick up the sound from the headphones?
In my country we only have the superlux hd 330 available
are they any good in comparison to the hd 668b?
I cant find the ear cups u bought. Can someone plz link it to me
Thank you for pointing that out,
that they are an open earphones, because I was not sure about that, and I searched and searched and I was not able to find the info
Thanks :)
Hey guys, i just bought the superlux hd668b and i was wondering if do we really need to buy the soundcard? Since its not available for shipping in my country so i did not buy them.
Edit: this is for mainly gaming on ps4. Do i need soundcard to have better hearing of footsteps?
bro bro from what I understand, if you want to add a mic, then yes. Otherwise, just use the sound d output on your PS4 controller or console.
I love these headsets ... If they have more base they would be perfect🤩 my only regret is it to me years to listen to your advice and buy these..
Superlux HD668B + Zalman mic or hyperx cloud stinger? headset up to 45 pounds...
a little bit late response but i think its a really easy question. superlux all the way.
What is this setup like for the likes of player unkowns battlefield where it is essential to be able to hear the position of an opponent player?
Yeah
Amazing Review! Thanks for it!
Nice, I just got a new one for free, only need to pay for postage. Yes there are still people out there with this mindset. I was looking for a good used Audio Technica AD500 which has a better cable and cushier padding then the AD500x. Using it on a Steinberg UR22 MK2.
Can plug that on ps4 the sound card witouth mic? Just the headphones? Or also can be plug on the TV and get the audio of the console?
I guess the whole difference in build quality between dedicated gaming headsets and designated audio gear has its roots in the greed of companys wrapping honey around the overall look and feel and less about sound quality in general. All these design aspects and the merch too raise the price lower the quality of parts put into considering high margin. I use my superlux together with a usb condenser mic from auna for all my gaming the MIC-900B is 40 bucks too - ok you need a stand for that mic, grab one from K&M 20+ bucks, another 100$ package :)
A review of the Superlux HMD-660E would be nice :)
How hard is it to replace the ear pads? I've been thinking about getting these and a zalman mic, but not sure how you would hook up the zalman and headphones like these on the ps4. I currently use the hyper x cloud
Justin Pullin replacing the pads is a pain in the ass the first time you do it, but it's a cinch after you do it the first time
You need a y cable that has mic and headset
does the Superlux HD668B kill hyperx cloud alpha????
yes specially for the soundstage and overall sound
Are these better sounding than my sennheiser hd 4.50 btnc? Just curious because otherwise ima just stay with them
They sound very different, you can't compare them.
should i get this or hyperx cloud core? i can get one of them for 50$
so what do you mean about the open sound.? Like is it that audible that someone could hear music coming out of them on a train or car? Or does a faint "hard to hear" sound come out?
solidfire737 these are semi open, so you will have moderate sound leakage but will also be able to hear outside sounds
+Pearl Vesper Thanks for replying.... In the end i just bought Skullcandy Hesh 2 and they sound soooo goood!
Get an AMP to plug it into to provide it more power
have you tried the Samson SR850 ? it looks really similar and it cost $10+ less
What has more bass?
Does chat audio work okay with this setup on ps4...is there a way to adjust chat volume, as in through the consoles settings?
Hi, One question I'm looking headset which can make a stage like 5.1 or 7.1, I assume that I need some mixamp to make it happen with this headset ? Could you recommend something ?
This a little late, but it's called sound stage. Also 7.1 is in what you use, some headphones just say that they can play it. If a pair of headphones say that they have 7.1 it's likely trash.
How would you say these compare to the HD681 and HD681 Evo?
these Superlux HD668B are better for gaming
I have a hd 668 and i must say the ear pads and the head cushion get hard as a rock and extremely unconfortable, im looking for a way to change them for somethinh more confortable.
Hope i made a good deal, just have to get the valour pads from another country. Just ordered the 668B for $29,-
question does anyone know if its a echoey mic on full volume ? ive had bad experiences with echoey mics
If I'm using these for gaming, should I go for these or the SAMSON Sr850s?
Woulder if that setup would work for the Xbox One..?
Does the Xbox controller limit the amount of volume that can come out from a headset?
Yep ditching mine today because I brought a 140 steel series trash ass headset it brought within 6 months and the sound it good but for long gaming it can be uncomfortable trying to fiddle faddle with the headset.
Trying a new cheaper setup. While also feeling like shit because I spent so much on a headset
Nice one! Got the 668b and wont give them back. You have to add velour pads tho.
They are unbelievably, great. I replaced my ear cushions with some replica airweave cushions that Steelseries uses.
Dangit. You’ve got me thinking of trying this but I can’t find these for $39 I stock. Ordered from B&H with hopes they come in stock soon.
have u tried the superlux hd669? is it good?
are they better than the hyperx cloud 2 ?
almost identical as cloud alpha, a bit more power hungry
yes, a little bit because of semi-open, means better soundstage..
Watching this video while wearing these headphones :) They're great, but for some people they sound too bright, which can be easily fixed with an equalizer.
Taavi Ladev how?
If you need an EQ that's a flaw in the speakers or headset, period.
A few tiny tweaks with an EQ can make a huge difference
what sponge are you using at 668b if you can?
Sony headsets always have buttons to adjust sound/chat balance. How do you adjust the balance on this setup?
Does this setup for PS4 provide mic monitoring?
Are these headphones compatible with Xbox 360?
Can sum1 plzz tell me how to install the vmoda boompros to this. I really want these headphones as my new headsets but I don’t know how to put a mic on
Buy a 3.5mm female to female
connector
shelly0ne thank you for this tip but I already did it😂
I have the Monophone Modern Retro and just bought the HD668's. The Monoprice is better !! The only reason I bought these is because a friend listen to my Monoprice classics and said the HD668 were better... Yeah right lol. The Monoprice has a much much bigger and open sound and the SQ is about the same.
any advice on which case to buy for this the 668b ?
Does it come with a 1/4th inch adapter?
I have the Superlux HD681 with some XL Brainwavze ear pads, so good although the pads where more coin than the phones themselves 🤣
Alright someone please help, could I attach a 3.5 female to female adapter to the 3.5 mm sticking out of the headset, and then buy the vmoda boom mic for $30 cheaper, and plug it in to the female to female adapter.
Stevie G yes but your mic will be dangling awkwardly below your headset
Beni Rabinowitz I settled for the Phillips Fidelio X2HR with the boom pro instead, thank you though
can i use the vmod a boom micpro instead of the mod mic?
No one else replied, but yes.
You'll just need a female-to-female aux adapter to hook the V-moda to it. Should only cost a couple extra dollars.
Is this better than Superlux Hd 681???
PS: I want some Bass
Sean Eredia Yes, especially for bass. The 681s are known for overly loud treble and slightly weaker bass compared to these
Thanks for this review
So the headset and mic DO work through the adapter on PS4?
Mellow Biped yes it does. Generic driverless usb soundcards works just fine. Just be cautious as some cheaper ones will fail to drive the headphones to optimum level resulting in low audio. The one recommended in this video is one of the best compatible usb card for the PS4.
Sean Ramsey hey sean i just bought the 668b's and was wondering if the sound card is optional? Since the soundcard from the video is not available for shipping to australia so i did not buy it.
This will work for an Xbox one?
Works on ps4?
yeah love this headset in the uk i bought these for 30 pounds wow !
so got the ear pads for 3 pounds from china . 3 weeks later the pads came .
but there are options for 5 bucks on amazon prime which i got also for the sake of time .
well for 33 uk pounds i had a good headset i paired it with a snowball for gaming with a heavy stand from maplin for £19 uk pounds .
so for £91.98 i had a good desk set up much better than any other set up before and its hard wearing .
but ...thats not the best bit !
the best thing is ?
i did tell a freind in canada he looked them up and for $9.32 in canada.
he bought a pair from amazon a few months ago.
he thought i was joking around .
when they came and he tried them out .
yes he was very surprised .
but the after market pads are awesome for long gaming sessions .
the best thing is these other popular brand names are good but turtle beach sadly just do not last at this price point .
ive had these for 5 months using 5 days a week.
an amp might be required but im not desperate to use one.
ohms dont matter to me but a sound card will suffice and even a budget pc system will utilise these just fine.
dont forget there are sound programs out there to help out with such a budget system .
to sum it up.
i really like them .
yes im convinced .
no im not sponsored or talked into giving any info here .
but i do enjoy this headset daily .
it is worth buying if you do not have a headset .
yes it is plastic .
but it is metal .
theses are not audiophile quality .
its the product i use .
i do not care for brand names all over my stuff so this is good for that .
an alternative is perhaps the steel series with orange rgb lighting cups for comfort and slightly better quality for gaming .
priced at around £50 at the moment on ebay new or used with a mic onboard .
best regards readers and to you painfully honest tech ;-))

Would this setup work with the ps4?
I own a PS4 and these headphones. Also, I replaced those awful, stock headphones with some velour ear cushions by Brainwayvz. Then, I bought a 192hz DAC and Converter by Neoteck. Cost $88.10 for all.
@@1Dub79 and how exactly did the conversor work for you? I'm trying to improve my Superlux HD 661 performance, I'd like to increase volume
Ey, can somebody give me link to the ear cushions ? please
Cause i want to buy them :D
What pads should I get for these headphones?
I have this and use it for my PS4. I replaced the original ear cushions with some velour ear cushions from Brainwayvz. I saw a difference in sound and comfort.
Why can't one of these gaming headsets just have a USB studio quality mic in it. I have a Samson go mic it's tiny and it sounds amazing for what it is. 10 times better than any headset.
