Glad you got it fixed but it's not a short, just a bad connection. Fortunately you had the type of pins that are split and you could open them up to make a tight connection but as they age it will probably happen again and eventually the plugs will have to be replaced. Good luck!
I got mine that way when i bought the boat, i ended up testing voltage the wat to the head to the wires that go to the motor, opened up the motor and it was full of corrosion because a peace of line was stuck on the prop shaft. Cleaned it all up good spread it really good with corrosion X ( I love that stuff) and haven't had a problem with the motor since owning the boat the last 4 years.

Can you get these type of replacement plugs anywhere?
My trolling motor is the same as yours, but when I plug mine in, it keeps on spinning on its own to the right side?
Mine is a new Terrova copilot and it turns on, turns left and right but the prop doesn’t spin. Any ideas?
