I've found 38 up 37 down to be the best for my 91 airframes. Haven't tested bigger airframes due to price but my setup gives a good mix of low and slow authority and high riffle roll rate.
@joehuntrc5027 I felt they slowed down as the speed increased. Having well sealed hinge gaps would also help. The video I recorded comparing the 2 showed me the 38 was faster than 40 or more
I showed up right as Alvin was leaving, but he waited for me to get a little video. I tried a few degrees of aileron throw from 36-44 degrees. It didn't rifle roll faster at 44 degrees, but it did 3D faster. And, it didn't roll slower at 44 degrees.
This plane is 10 years old, plus. Small ailerons, rolls very slow. I'm not noticing a big difference in roll rate in the 35-45 degree deflection range at high speed. But, definitely at low speed. My modern planes roll lightning fast at 44 degrees. I need to test them at 38. But, they are blistering at 44. At high speed. The fastest is the EF 114 Slick, followed by the SW 116 Edge. Blazing fast rifle roll rates at 44 degrees deflection. Still need more info. But, the aileron size definitely trumps all, which is not exactly rocket science. haha
AMAZING

How were your rifle rolls affected with more aileron deflection?

@@joehuntrc5027 - Well, Joe you know my opinion I’m not into “urgent extreme” , but a laid-back 3D flying… Big thanks to Alvin, btw.
I’m not impressed with the 38/37 rates on my bigger planes. They’re slower planes than 50-70cc and it just roll like crap.
