Thankfully you rescued Mary's pieces from the house before the fire department could destroy them forever! And a family has a home, too. You put so much karma and goodness out in the world, I really hope you get it all back in this sale.
i knew nothing about Mary until i started watching you, which the house reno was also the first time i started watching..well done Alex, you put your heart and soul into everything about Mary
I collect crystal balls and I have some stands. I also use bottle caps, napkin rings or plain band rings to set them on. Better than letting them roll off the shelf.
It was fate that you ended up in Mary's house all her art may have been lost forever especially the scraps of paper she wrote on for sure would have been tossed out! Thank you. Watching the auction is giving me warm tears😍🥰🥰
I could fell your stress level moving up during the Picasso bidding. You keep your channel interesting by taking us along on the adventures and the auction is also very informative
I love your videos! I watched all of the Potter house videos! Loved the beautiful things Mary left behind. She must have been a beautiful soul. What the renters did to that house after all that work made me want to cry! Your second make over was a breath of fresh air! I pray you find better tenants this time! Back ground checks are key! Never take the word of a former land lord. Check utility companies, credit, and addresses where they lived before. I went and talked to their previous neighbors before I rented to see what kind of people they were. You wouldn't believe the stories I heard sometimes! I sold my rental before I moved out of state. I pray you find someone worthy of that beautiful home! God bless y'all! 🙏
Just found the book you wrote about Mary and it’s amazing all of this interest created around this artist due to you. So wonderful and so happy to see her honored. You sharing some proceeds from her pottery with her family to me is wrong. They didn’t care enough about her pottery to do what is right from a family which is to take care of her house and belongings.
Alex, I have been watching your adventures for a few weeks now. I thoroughly enjoy each of them. Your meeting with your newly found sister brought something to my mind. Sometimes I can see someone and their physical characteristics remind me of someone else. A couple of months ago I was watching Joshua Phillip on his Podcast almost daily; he is an investigative reporter for The Epoch Times. It recently dawned on me that the two of you share an uncanny resemblance. Check it out and you or Melissa can tell me if either of you agree. Best wishes!
To think that Mary's family was about to give her house with all that art in it to the fire department to burn down.. No wonder she passed on pretty much the moment she knew her house and legacy would be taken care of. She was at peace.
I’m thinking that since Mary was 104 her family was not of the right age to tackle the house. Maybe great grandchildren would have wanted to? But so happy her house is restored
@@abitofwhimsie Yeah, true, but still having it burned do seems incredibly cruel to be and as we saw there were other options. To even consider that.. damn.
Didn't catch the live, but still the most interest hour and a half I've spent in a long time. Thanks Alex, and best of luck with the build. Can't wait to see the vids of it. :: Soooo many Seans in your life. LOL :: I think Mary's mark is very clever. Yes it's an M for Mary, but if you turn it on it's side it's also a B for Borgstrom.
Nail biting and exciting! I know we're looking at the sellers point of view but nice that some people got some good deals on items they can cherish, spread the recycled/collected Love!
For the concert posters the item number gives a false impression of date--like a 2020 Bill Evans Concert Poster, or a 2019 Beatles Concert Poster. I say put an estimated date, e.g., 1970s, 1980s, etc. IMO.
I feel your emotion with Mary's items sold.I started watching you when you bought Mary's house, it was quite a journey. Hope you get what you need for your addition!
It’s because of you and your belief in a dream that Mary’s art is unearthed and getting so valuable again. That parakeet in the wire pyramid was someone’s beloved pet that they couldn’t let go of, once it passed away.
Did you consider selling the Picasso privately to a collector via fine art agent? I'm concerned an auction in Edmonton might not have the ability to let wealthy buyers for it know it was up for sale. So stressful to watch the auction even in replay! I see the answer now, for fast turn around.
I thought Kastner ships to wherever items are sold to,even though they’re based out of Edmonton. So any of Alex’s viewing population can potentially purchase whatever goes through Kastner, and whoever else is looking through their site.
As of 12/10/2020 is the shell of the building going up, I would have assumed that it would start going up in the Spring of 2021 because of the cold winters we have in North Dakota, assuming Alberta has similar winters.
If there a historical plaque or anything on the Potter's House? I seem to recall you were pursuing a historical designation, I was wondering if it every went through.
I'm just catching up with past videos. I collect 18th scale diecast cars. Alex, do you remember how much you sold the Rolls Royce diecast for ? It is in the video around 1:20:43 , when you were showing the Peruvian Whistling jug. Thanks.
The African drum ceremony seems to be the definite cut-off point between boyhood and manhood (ahem). And, I imagine, there was a party involved for the new youngest men in the community.
Just on the Picasso you didn’t need to send it to a bigger auction house your auction house needed to do a better job advertising the piece to international bidders. However so long as you are happy that’s all that matters
Hey, Alex. You've mentioned the Mary Borgstrom signature on the pottery. As a logo artist, have you noticed it is both an M and a B? I have commented before, but I think it gets lost in the throngs of fans. :)
One of the neat things he found in the house was a sketch page with a variety of idea versions of her MB mark, along with the final version. He also found the mark stamps, that she used to impress her mark into the wet clay.
Sue Calvert my paternal grandma was a Calvert who married a Hays. . I was adopted so I didn’t meet the family. Kind of neat to run across the name. Hope I didn’t bother you
No problem with Alex close up. You're a good looking boy. Even an old bird like me can enjoy a bit of eye candy.
I agree completely. You didn't thought I was looking for the antiques... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thankfully you rescued Mary's pieces from the house before the fire department could destroy them forever! And a family has a home, too. You put so much karma and goodness out in the world, I really hope you get it all back in this sale.
What I love most is how much respect you show to the things you sell. You deserve every bit of profit you make on these items.
i knew nothing about Mary until i started watching you, which the house reno was also the first time i started watching..well done Alex, you put your heart and soul into everything about Mary

Your comments to Mary of her items was so very emotional! You definitely gave her a heartfelt tribute!
Oh my gosh i love watching this. Thank you Alex for letting us watch with you
Mary would be so proud of you, Alex.
Really enjoyed your auction and the run up of clearing the house from England
Way to go Mary!!! You’d be proud at what Alex will be able to creative for his family!!!
It was fate that you ended up in Mary's house all her art may have been lost forever especially the scraps of paper she wrote on for sure would have been tossed out! Thank you. Watching the auction is giving me warm tears😍🥰🥰
Mary's worth is finally recognized for the great potter she was. Thank you Alex !!
I could fell your stress level moving up during the Picasso bidding. You keep your channel interesting by taking us along on the adventures and the auction is also very informative

I'm a proud Canadian Alex, and you just made me cry. Let's all support Canadian artist, esp during this time, music included.
Wooohoooo I won my item! Can’t wait!
Alex, you are so respectful with everyones items. How refreshing. Eye candy as well from an old lady.
Yes! Doing Well! Thank You! And YOUR Self!!!

What makes it even more interesting is your commentary
I just wanted to say thank you for the transparency.
You were so very kind to Mary. It's nice that her work is selling so well for you- it's kinda like she's watching out for you ❤

I enjoy your comments. Just learning how auctions go in Canada.
Thanks Alex, good for you! Wowzer
This is so interesting! I'm watching, about half way through (yes, I'll finish). Happy that you didn't take a loss on the Picasso.
Good going. You are amazing on the skill, you have, in find special & unique treasures, Alex!!
I love these videos💙 I can watch this for hours. Thnx for sharing, love from The Netherlands. 🌷🌷🌷🌷
Looking Forward !! To Watch ing Your Auction! And See What you HAVE ECT.
Thank you for taking us to the auction. It was so interesting!
To think that Mary's family was about to give her house with all that art in it to the fire department to burn down.. No wonder she passed on pretty much the moment she knew her house and legacy would be taken care of. She was at peace.
Omg this is so true, I got goosebumps reading this and thinking about the peace that Alex brought her 💖💖💖
I’m thinking that since Mary was 104 her family was not of the right age to tackle the house. Maybe great grandchildren would have wanted to? But so happy her house is restored
@@abitofwhimsie Yeah, true, but still having it burned do seems incredibly cruel to be and as we saw there were other options. To even consider that.. damn.
I think they should be ashamed of themselves for taking anything from Alex. He did all the work they didn't want to . He saved all that art .
Didn't catch the live, but still the most interest hour and a half I've spent in a long time. Thanks Alex, and best of luck with the build. i enjoy this familys adventures- they seem like good canucks, with good intentions. the world needs more people as these. good luck and god speed.
your story on Mary helped increase the value of her pieces
I counted the total of $47,480.50 as the sale of the Time Clock. Awesome! So happy for you and Melissa!
Excited for you Alex.
Good luck 👍
Nail biting and exciting! I know we're looking at the sellers point of view but nice that some people got some good deals on items they can cherish, spread the recycled/collected Love!
RIP , beautiful Mary ❤
I love the auction vids! So exciting...nail biters!

I Sure did love watching this action even though I missed the live. It was just totally inspiring
Such beautiful pieces! I sure hope Mary is watching.
Seeing Mary’s art sell was amazing
I feel your emotion with Mary's items sold.I started watching you when you bought Mary's house, it was quite a journey. Hope you get what you need for your addition!
You have nerves of steel! I'd implode from anxiety, LOL!
It’s because of you and your belief in a dream that Mary’s art is unearthed and getting so valuable again.
That parakeet in the wire pyramid was someone’s beloved pet that they couldn’t let go of, once it passed away.
Enjoying watching the auction.
Waiting for updates.. oh. Lunch break..later gator 🐊🐊
It is amazing to see Mary's work going for more than Dali and Picasso.
Merry Christmas 🎄
Enjoy your time with your family ❣️
I loved every minute of this!!!! Bummed I missed part two though!!!!!
Good luck and pray you reach your goal. Enjoyed first part of the auction, but got to go.
Auctions never bore me.
That's how we learn.
the beatles poster was from the new Brighton tower ballroom . in the uk early 60s
Alright! Great job, Keep Going!!
I didn't realize you were displaying the little rolls convertible, I'm glad you like it
The Tower Ballroom is likely to refer to Blackpool Tower Ballroom in NW England which is a popular holiday resort and where I was born
Damn, that Bill Evans poster was a steal. Would have bought it if I knew about it.
Very Rare! Fantastic Piece!

I thought the same thing, sending a Picasso to an Edmonton auction , hmmmmm.
He wanted to turn it around quickly, needing cash for the new shop building.
He said Christie’s takes 50%. Kastner takes a lot less.
I thought Kastner ships to wherever items are sold to,even though they’re based out of Edmonton. So any of Alex’s viewing population can potentially purchase whatever goes through Kastner, and whoever else is looking through their site.

This was cool. Thanks for sharing!
I feel your pain. My student loan sits at $27,800.
If there a historical plaque or anything on the Potter's House? I seem to recall you were pursuing a historical designation, I was wondering if it every went through.
Margaret C. Sullivan yes it has a plaque I think
did you edit it out . > . the puking
I kept expecting the comic relief of you dropping the piece in the reel behind this.
Sooo what was the price Alex paid for Picasso???
Awesomeness Personified is Curiosity Inorported
Well done Buddy.......
I hope you make your goal!
I think this neat I'm learning alot about old stuff.
item 2029..i bet you are glad you didnt knock it on the floor at your house while dusting....well done....Mary would be very pleased for you
I'm just catching up with past videos. I collect 18th scale diecast cars. Alex, do you remember how much you sold the Rolls Royce diecast for ? It is in the video around 1:20:43 , when you were showing the Peruvian Whistling jug. Thanks.
What did you do with towtruck from the store
The Beatles concert was Friday 14 September 1962.
The African drum ceremony seems to be the definite cut-off point between boyhood and manhood (ahem). And, I imagine, there was a party involved for the new youngest men in the community.
Buyer got a huge bargain on that Featherweight sewing machine! I'd have given 150, they usually start at $200 USD
God bless Mary. Hope she really was looking down on you.
Really Nice Piece!!
Sooo cool that you bring your youtube friends with you 👌🏻😍
High polish ,high price . Bless Your memory Mary .
You Have Wonderful Stuff!!!
There's the tip truck from Mary's house! Best ever
What is Kastner's commision? You hoping 70-8000 after commissions
How do you bid
missed my chance for a Dali, not that I had the money. 🤣
Enjoying very much. Audrey
Didn’t see all the auction, hope you did well!
maybe you should have gone to professional art dealers for the 2 early items
I wish I had your energy
I hope you at least got your money back on the Picasso.
The USS Lexington & USS Saratoga were designed as Battle Cruisers but were converted into aircraft carriers.
What % commission do they take from the total, or individual customers stuff??
Just on the Picasso you didn’t need to send it to a bigger auction house your auction house needed to do a better job advertising the piece to international bidders. However so long as you are happy that’s all that matters
Did the comic books make it?
You could offer your renter's of Marry house as a rent to own all you have to do is agree on a price
Congratulations
He also found the mark stamps, that she used to impress her mark into the wet clay.
i enjoy this, and you talking in the background
Hey Alex....
I watched the entire auction part one!!!!
I went to part two and it says "uploader removed".
Any idea what this means....
It sounds fine.
Sue Calvert my paternal grandma was a Calvert who married a Hays. . I was adopted so I didn’t meet the family. Kind of neat to run across the name. Hope I didn’t bother you
Stay on love to watch
Good luck I know you'll do well. Your friend Rose Las Vegas
