One of the most impactful ways I take care of myself is to SLEEP. It makes a noticeable difference in my irritability/patience. I’m more the mom I want to be when I’m well-rested.
One way I practice self care is by taking August off every year from all my volunteer jobs. Then I feel like I am ready to serve again come September. I also totally get the pressure to have a "real job" etc. I work 20 hours a week to help pay bills but I am mostly a stay at home Mum (kids are at school while I work). I agree that women take on too much.
Self love putting you first is different to self care. We must look after ourselves but it's hard to balance. I feel guilt just for going to a gym with a children's creche so I can get some exercise but it's so good for me mindset and body wise and God uses me hugely there to speak to people not in faith. As for pressure... I feel pressure from every angle. Earning enough to survive, being a good mum, seeing family Enough. I don't have much support network so it all is a huge burden. Im having to learn to be a home maker and mum and worker. simplifying in it all is exactly it. Honour God in where he has us!!! I think psychology can air on humanistic approaches which oppose Christs teachings but it's a good conversation to bring to Christianity.
Exercise is so important to help us feel good and be healthy. When you feel guilty you can remind yourself that your kids need a healthy mom too! Praying right now that God would give you peace and rest in your spirit instead of feeling pressure or overwhelm. He will lead and guide you. 🙏❤️

Glad you mentioned this because it can be an easily forgotten form of self-care!
Love seeing this reaction video on your channel and the perspective Dr. Amen shared. His content has definitely been helping me lately.
Thank you friend! I’m glad Dr. Amen has been helpful to you! He is very informative and encouraging.

That’s such a great idea to take a break from volunteering to reset before the fall starts. What kind of volunteering do you do Melinda?
I help run the toddler room at kids church plus I work in my child's classroom at school.
@@melindaedgington9925 I love that you do that! Those are great ways to volunteer.
