Really enjoyed the video. Thanks. I think perhaps the very theatrical Lionheart appeals more to European tastes than American. I'm from England and I rate it very highly.
Very interesting. I do largely agree with your ranking. The Sensual World is the album I listen to the most, more so than Hounds of Love, and I have never been able to get into 50 Words for Snow at all. I seem to be on my own in this world in liking Lionheart over and above The Kick Inside.
Hi Mike. I will never forget seeing Kate on SNL in December 1978 and going to the record store to buy her debut album the next day. I was hooked. Her melodic and harmonic ingenuity at such a young age mesmerized me. I was a big fan of Todd Rundgren, Mike Oldfield, John McLaughlin, PFM, Yes, Jan Akkerman, Terje Rypdal, et al., and here this British gal my age was in musical league with these masters, I thought. Anyway, the main reason for my comment is that, over the decades, Lionheart has remained in my heart as a very special and under-appreciated album. It has a warmth that matches the cover. Very consistent in feel (well, up to the final few tracks, which looked forward somewhat to Never For Ever in style) and to this day I find it a very beautiful and musically-rewarding listen. I wish more Kate fans liked it as much as I do. Another thing I thank Kate for is her introduction to me of the music of Frederick Delius, my favorite classical composer. Love his richly chromatic elusively meandering harmonies, and am not at all surprised that Kate also loved them. Thanks for the video and for reading this admittedly over-long comment. Haha! (By the way, I have been really enjoying your recent videos exploring various jazz and classical languages on guitar - very impressive). Cheers. Jeff
Thank you for the insight Jeff! I will give Lionheart a few more trys and see if it grows on me eventually. Thanks for watching and glad you've been enjoying the guitar videos!
I love your take here. Your list is pretty similar to mine... The Sensual World, I would say it's the most personally resonant album even if I think Hounds of Love is objectively a greater record. I'm glad to see your love for it. I like "Reaching Out" but my favorite song from this album is "Deeper Understanding".
Completely agree about the Sensual World and I have similar conflicting feelings when I compare it to Hounds of Love. Deeper Understanding is another beautiful track from that record. Thank you for listening!
I loved 50 words for snow after 4 or 5 listens and have always been confused why no one else is hearing the gorgeous, mesmerizing record I am but the only other change would be to bump Ariel to S tier. Good ranking video though enjoyed it

I love Reaching Out. It's not my favourite, but I do think it's very moving.

The Red Shoes gets an S from me. Love it. I'd give 50 Words an A/B. Otherwise, I pretty much agree with your ranking.

I really tried with that one but I still haven't had that moment where something clicked. Maybe I Need a few more listens. Thanks for watching!
I may not agree with his ranking (at all), but I appreciate his detailled reasoning.
14:27 You're not that crazy about that song? I think it's very catchy and has Mick Karn's bass in it!
I actually did not know that about Mick Karn! That's wild! Thank you for pointing that out and thanks for listening!
Kick inside is one of the best debuts ever. How is it not top tier?!
I think the 3 S tier albums are a little stronger but I do agree that it is a great debut album
Do Judie Tzuke next!
Never for Ever is one of the greatest albums ever made imo
