FORT RITCHIE ABANDONED | IMPORTANT HISTORY NOW IN RUINS

- Today I’m going to be showing you all around Fort Ritchie. In this video I will be showing most of what is abandoned of the fort. Not completely abandoned due to over the years of making a mixed use for development and lawsuits have recently hindered planning for the property. Fort Ritchie once known as camp Richie was founded in 1926 for the Maryland national guard. In 1942 the US Army activated the military intelligence training center (MITC) training about 20,000 intelligent troops such as the Ritchie boys. Closed in 1998 under the base realignment and closure commission.
😲 Oh my word... I came for the _WT?P Fam Raid,_ but your opening clip has my eyes glued to the screen!! Very well done, bro... kudos!!! 👏👏👏❤️‼️
Thank you Sherry! I appreciate it. :)
Hey sweet friend! This was great! Thank you for sharing. This was a great place to check out 🥰
Thank you! This was a good one that took a lot for me to do. :)
I wasn't based there, but as a staff car driver I did frequently dropped off military brass in the underground facility in the mountain. I was lucky the Colonel that was assigned to the 1965 Chevy Impala 4 dr. had an aftermarket air conditioner installed. I got such dirty looks at the Pentagon sitting cool as a cucumber as others were sweating to death. I would generally drop them off and come back at a prescribed time. I would find the mess hall , Those large rooms with the ceiling falling down, looks a lot different now but that was beautiful back in 1971 when I was there. Thanks for filming this, safe travels !
This is sad to me. I was stationed here in 1969-70. Met my husband there. Worked at Site R. It was a beautiful post. Visited about 10 years ago. The chapel was still intact.
New to the Chanel look forward to watching more thanks for sharing .Great explore those tunnels look creepy .
Thank you for watching and welcome to the channel. More to come. :)
Was this the premier I was a part of miss the beginning so I gave it a rewatch great work 💓
Thank you my friend! Appreciate it :)
@@PastLifeExplorer Your welcome nothing but love. Love Yourself Love Others Do You Be You And Live A Little and Gimma A Kiss 💋
Thanks for documenting the remains of Fort Ritchie. It is by far one of the most important legacies of the U.S. military during WWII that still exists (mostly). Fort Ritchie will be changing in the near future, so it's important that videos like this one are created and exist forever.
Thank you! That is the exact reason I do this. :)
Hey PLE sorry I missed the premiere I have my grandson but I went back and watched it luv it was really good so sad it just abandoned..I loved it❤️
It’s all good. We all get busy. Thank you and I appreciate it LJ :)

Hi, im new to ur channel. Loved the video. Im always curious about what the inside of abandoned buildings look like and this one was interesting, because of the History of them. Great job.
Thank you and welcome to the channel. Love exploring and doing this to show. :)
Heard it's your birthday...
Happy Birthday!!!!
Hope you have a blessed year!!!!
Haha! The gang wanted to pull a big joke on me and make it into a birthday week. I make up others birthdays and tag them in it. So they got me back. Haha. But thanks for the early birthday
A long creepy tunnel is always scary! Dont blame you at all for running back. I dont think I I could've gone half way. Liked how your so gentle with opening doors, most people barge into them like a swat team.
Yeah. It was creepy that it goes really far in. I had opened a door once and the whole door had disintegrated. That was wild
This is so awesome. I have so many good memories here as a child, I lived there with my father, who was an officer in the military and I had so many adventures and was able to meet Jimmy Carter who went to the small chapel on the post and I also went inside Site R for Thanksgiving, which is a giant, underground installation with a door as thick as a house. There was a great snowstorm there in the 70s were it snowed several feet and I lived in snow caves and jumped off of our house into giant snow drifts for weeks. So many memories that have impacted my life I would love to live out my days they’re so beautiful what a great place to live…
Awesome childhood memories !
Glad you’ve enjoyed and it’s brought back good memories. It’s cleaning up now. Looking quite nice. Glad I had the opportunity to document this when it was looking more abandoned so we can all compare now. 🙂
Thanks 😄
The underground ally's are for emergency bombardment and those metal round holes are for bunkers underground ..that place is awesomeness.
New here to your channel.
Well done plus history with a scare .👍🏼👍🏼
Im in Ontario Canada
Thank you for further clarification on that. I was really wondering. I need to find out more about it. You got it right! History with a scare
Bro that was a crazy exploration by yourself. Previous drug vault was a cool find. Man good thing you had plenty of lighting and were lying attention with those holes. Stay safe out there man and I’ll be back for more.
Thank you! You are awesome! I’ll be your new friend as well. :)
@@PastLifeExplorer I appreciate that, but are you sure? I mean geez I should do grammar and spell check on my comments before sending haha!!! I love explorations and have a few on a playlist and a ton of dropped pins on my Google Maps that will make it into videos in 2021. Bare with me, I’m learning on what to film and what to edit into a urbex explore.

That would be a good idea. Thank you
The underground tunnels remain above the underground water aqueducts. They also provided a means of transport and maintenance for the base during it's time of operation.
