I just thought of disco Elysium How The tie was a character, Just visualize Troy Baker carrying around the wine glass and the wine glasses is talking to him at the show.
Apparently they started an open bar at like 1 pm and the show started around 6. So bro was probably pretty tipsy at the start of this and it just devolved from there
I live in England. Between the cold, damp, and how early it gets dark here in winter, I promise you they were all drinking from around noon onward. There's no way they weren't. Every "professional" event is like this in England in November. lmao it's amazing (and disastrous)
The dumbest screw up during this event that i haven't seen anyone else mention is that that they couldn't even get the in-house video setup right. None of the videos were designed for the aspect ratio of that screen and they seem to have set the display to "fill width" rather than "fit screen", so everything has a chunk cut off the top and bottom, frequently cutting text in half, including the splash logo for the whole bloody event 😂 If the A/V team can't even figure out how to set their main display up properly (it's literally a single obvious setting anyone could have fixed at any time), it's no surprise how much of a mess the livestream was 🤷
Nolan and Troy had a UA-cam channel together and something happened and Troy dipped and unfollowed him on everything Travis(Troy’s bestie) from critical roll still holds love for Nolan and still follows him. It happened right around the time troy was cut from the running for the live action Joel role. After the spilt up troy did an interview kinda sh!t talking actors that take a bit part in the cinema/live action version of a character that a voice actor originated. Something that Nolan had just done at the time for the uncharted movie. Little did Troy know he was going to do that himself for last of us. These are the facts do with that as you will
I remember watching some of the Nolan/Troy videos and being a little put off by it. They had decent chemistry but if you watch their TLOU ''lets play'' it's so embarrassingly preplanned and staged by corporate meddling as like an advertisement of the game or some shit that it makes me question how scripted the rest of their stuff was. I can't put my finger on any one thing but if you listen to a podcast or a lets play of actual people who like hanging out and then watch Nolan/Troy do it then you'll pick up on differences immediately.
@@Legacy0901 I think a lot of it was differences in what they wanted the show to actually be, Troy seemed like he wanted a professional interview experience where he brought in guests that worked on the games and got a commentary with them, Nolan seemed like he just wanted to play games and joke around and be really casual with it.
I think they had amazing chemistry, they were always bouncing off of each other well. We saw them for the adorkable nerds they were. They both had fantastic incite into the eras they lived in and differing levels of spotlight in the entertainment industry. Sometimes egos get bruised, and it feels too shameful to say you are sorry for your words or actions. I don’t believe that Nolan wasn’t willing to shift the focus from the games because he did try changing the format of retro replay after Troy left to try keeping it afloat. I have never heard Nolan take potshots at Troy in media unless they were sitting next to each other both laughing about it.
The problem with Troy is he seems overly sensitive about everything. He takes every criticism he hears about a game he’s in or something he’s doing as a personal attack.
@@RunningBlade2184 true this is also around the time that he found out his most famous character was 🦵 🪣 . So emotions were high and his ego was taking hits a lover the place.
Thank you and Paige for this, oh geez Edit: the "oh geez" was for Troy Further edit: Appreciate the magic touches of video editing on the supercut, DatAsuna. Saying it here because I'm viewing this before the standalone
From my understanding the golden joystick awards are hosted as a dinner and award ceremony traditionally which would explain the noise and clinking but also since there is no doubt a free bar there would be a lot of glasses on the tables. Its a big slip up for attempting something close to the game awards but its a very small event hosted in the UK so were definitely underprepared and unexpected to be seen as a major award ceremony.
I dont know who he is (i really dont...) and watching this whole thing pained me. Ever since the incredibly misplaced and STUPID magazine joke i knew i was just gonna watch it for the sweep and tune out the rest... im glad I did.
I saw someone saw that Troy was the back up host so that might be why it felt so weird and bad. But I also can't find any source that confirms that so who knows

He was seconds away from combining the tie with the wine glass, creating a spirit bomb, and tossing it into the crowd

Troy Baker desperately trying to hold back some Gamer Words.
Not the racist ones, it’s important we acknowledge that. He did the best he could here.

It looks like it’s being held in a hotel function hall

boy does that sound like an issue that someone should have figured out before they actually tried to run the videos.
@@DemonFireRainBoy, I really hope someone got fired for that blunder
Troy, sun-bro, sippin’ on that estus.
I feel so bad for Troy. Wonderful edit, Datasuna!
Watching this makes me SO excited to see who tries to storm the stage this year at Geoff's show.
"Please welcome.... (squints at teleprompter)
Oh it's me!??"
This was amazing! Watching it live with them was such a treat.
I'm barely past the 6 minute mark slamming my personal PAIN button
Holy shit DatAsuna how are you so fucking on point with the edits, that was hilarious

Troy Baker came here with his "I really wish I wasn't here right now" button this is Jamie Kennedy at E3 levels of "God, I hope he's okay."

Geoff is gonna get a manslaughter charge this year if anyone tries to come on stage who isn’t invited
My god you gingers are treasures
When the Bard had to miss the game so now the Fighter has to take over as party Face. lol
The moment he made that magazine... joke?... I decided to enjoy his unraveling.

He seems nice
This was well done DA, painful trainwreck for the people running the show but strangely ...enjoyable?
