USA is stronger than most people think. I think our problem is that Berhalter is so adamant on playing a possession oriented style and playing out of the back when our strength is transitions and overlapping on the flanks when we have numerical advantages. Specifically against Brazil in the 2nd half, Brazil was focused on playing a mid block and winning the ball in the midfield and going on the transition.
100% should have scored that. When you play top20 comp, you have to bury great chances like that, especially when you are the star player in that moment.
When you say Reyna was bad, make sure you emphasize you’re talking about when we were in possession. Out of possession, his defensive work was very very good
"his defensive work was very very good" not really you guys still have big problems in defense, the issue was that Brazil wasn't the same aggressive team as he is in an actual tournament.
@@radielkill I didn’t say we were good defensively as a team did I? I said one specific player, who doesn’t usually do a ton of work defensively, actually did a good job defensively that game. Nobody mentioned anything about the other 10 players on the field or whether or not Brazil was aggressive
Richards shows little confidence or building from the back quality( had one good tackle) I disagree about Musah a bit. Musah had a good start, but clearly quit on a couple plays, 1 leading to a goal & 1 lead to a good counter. Richards worries me the most. We need to build from the back and who do we have coming up that can do that? Scally did show up👏
Good job defending against an onslaught from Brazil. Granted this isnt the same Brazil from before. But its still Brazil. So we showed we don't have to be mousy against a world superpower. It probably helps that we have so many good players at top level in Europe. It's encouraging that we have a history of good goalkeepers. Keller, Friedel, Howard, and now Turner.
Not to take anything away from the result but this Brazil team isn't so impressive to me. Vinicius is a terrific player but I hesitate to say he's at the level of Neymar or quite that tier. And in competitive games thus far for qualifying, they are winless in their last 4 games and sit SIXTH in the 10 team table.
@@alex1vid They mainly lack creativity in the midfield and have a poor defense due to mediocre fullbacks that allow dangerous breaches. They do not have an elite creative midfielder like Kaka.
only positive from this game was that they clearly shook off the colombia loss mentally. wasn't the best game but it didn't look like a team that just got embarrassed.
This Brazil team is weak. There is a reason they are number 6 in Conmebol qualifying for the World Cup at the moment. They’ve lost against Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay and tied against Venezuela. They have amazing players but for some reason they don’t play well together.
I’ve felt the same way about Brazil I feel like they just haven’t been super effective since losing Neymar Jr and no one is doing that playmaking role any justice and it really makes their attack feel toothless 25 shots and how many on target like half??
I agree! Matt can stop balls, but he absolutely sucks with his feet. We pass back to him way to much and every time we do, I shudder. Westin is a consistent disappointment...highly skilled but takes cheap shots and little-to-none, in-your-face aggressive play. Westin loves to jog around and watch opponents set up plays. SMH. Will we EVER break the wall to the next level?
They didn't play the usual berhalter ball of holding possession and the only time they tried to play out the back at the beginning caused them to concede a goal from a bad goal kick.
The US had their forwards on top of their own box. The strategy was to counterattack and set plays. 39% ball possession. If you are happy with defensive soccer that’s fine, but it showed me Brazil was way superior.
"The US should of won this game 4-2🤷🏽♂ Brazil got lucky...PERIOD, THE END, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! The problem is when the USMNT loose to a big team we bounce back every time but the usmnt need to play like they want to win every game especially when playing big teams. Berhalter isn’t the answer, a different coaching system can bring the best out of our players, the quality is there.

You simply don't have the guts (for whatever reason) to admit Berhalter is not the level of coach these kids need. Of course. it's not GGG's fault, as McBride stated in Golazo podcast, we're stuck with him (GGG) as the USSF wokeness has and is directly affecting the USMNT's potential with that stupid equal pay for both coaches. As McBride stated, USSF doesn't have the financial resources to pay for 2 coaches.
Agreed lads - USA finally showed up. This its what it needs to be at this moment with this team. Against the top 8 teams USA are a more of a counting attacking team. 2026 -lets get behind the lads but we are never gonna win it.
2:26 This is one of the biggest knocks against Greg. Historicly he has always liked playing from the back so I think that is what he wants to do. However Matt is terrible with his feet Matt either needs to use his hands or kick the ball as hard as he can down field and the USMT plan would be to press in tradition not slow development from the back and greg is either telling them to play that way or he is not telling Matt he needs to stop playing that way.
We played well overall, much more connected than against Columbia. That said, its in games like these against the powerhouse teams that you really miss Adams and Dest. We missed Tyler's ability to run all day and cover up for any mistakes and any gaps in the middle, and you miss Dest's offensive support and pure talent. I thought Jedi continued to show that he's good to a certain point, against certain teams, but against the best in the world, I'd rather have a healthy Dest on the left and Scally stays on the right
Alexi smh, smh… ofc it is not easy to get scored on when you are playing with 10 defensive players the second half. Meanwhile the opposing team is attacking with 4 players and still generating shots on goal. USMNT got plenty to worry about. And lets not forget. Brazil just came off a thrilling match against Mexico. Which surely left them gassed. Lets be fair 🤔
"Gassed" with a tournament around the corner and swapped lineups - the BETTER lineup facing the US? "Thrilling" 3-2- LOSS for Mexico featuring easily one of the worst Mexican AND Brazil sides I've seen in my lifetime? I mean this Brazil side sits in 6th in 10 team CONMEBOL now, winless in its last 4. But bigger, never thought I'd see an (I assume) FMF fan call a loss 'thrilling'. Gees how they've fallen.. even the fanbase.
Berhalter has to put together a string of games where they look good before we start giving him any kudos. What is that now, two games out of 5 1/2 years? Cmon, BJ was apart of more good games than this coach! Stop rewarding Berhalter for less than mediocre coaching
The 3 CONCACAF teams probably aren't as bad as they were in their first friendly game. However, once Copa America begins, in the absolute best of circumstances, i.e, with lots of luck favouring them, I still can't see any of them being able to make the Copa America final. Now all that said, what are my MINIMUM expectations for my team, Canada? 1. Be competitive against Chile and Peru. 2. Don't lose to Argentina by more than 3 goals. 3. Score a goal in the tournament. 4. Get at least 1 draw after the 3 group stage matches. If any of one of those conditions are broken I will likely walk away feeling disappointed with CanMT's overall achievements at Copa America 2024. What are my MINIMUM expectations for the 5 other CONCACAF teams? - MEXICO: (i) Looking competitive in ALL their 3 group matches - if they don't advance, OR, (ii) Advancing to QFs. - US: (i) Must advance to QFs otherwise it's a disappointment -JAMAICA: Same expectations as MEXICO. - PANAMA: (i) Look competitive against Bolivia and look competitive in either one of their Uruguay & US group matches. COSTA RICA: (i) Look competitive against Paraguay and look competitive in either one of their Brazil & Colombia group matches.
The VAR was a couple of usmnt fans. There's no way you can call that foul on one side the brazil player got the ball and pulishit kicked him after he got the ball then turn around and go to VAR on the other side and take back the yellow card that was clearly a foul. Denial of a goal
What I saw was that if we don't give away the ball at the back line and send the ball to the forwards we got a chance to destroy any team in the world. Let's go!
😂😂 *USMNT were playing with the refs on their side. That foul or should i say dive that lead to pulisic freekick couldn't be reviewed because it was outside the box but somehow a similar foul that favored Brazil outside the box was reviewed AFTER being called and overturned which refs are not allowed to do but it was obvious the ref didn't want usmnt to lose... not to mention how they parked the bus after that 1-1.*
The US should play like they did in the second half against superior teams just park the bus and play on the counter. There’s no shame in it Iceland and Greece have had some success with that tactic.
importan lesson in football: never take conclusions based on a friendly match, If USNT plays Brazil in the tournement they'll probably would be destroyed
I'm fair, I still want Berhalter out. One game doesn't change that. He's not been good enough, he isn't good enough, he will never be a good enough coach.
I'm Brazilian and I'm not here trying to discredit USA win, but me and a lot of Brazilians agreed that this Brazilian team is the worst team we ever had...
What did you say about Matt Turner a few days ago? I'm tired of these people talking about this and that without being held accountable while him and other players have to mentally suffer from these 'criticisms'. So unjust. Shame on you.
Win a World Cup is the goal? How about put 2 solid performances together in a row? This team takes every opportunity it gets to play poorly, if they don’t sense urgency they play lazy and get smacked. Winning a World Cup requires 7 or so games in a row playing at a level better than last night. SEVEN! This team has no sense of urgency and thinks they can stroll at times. Until they string together many solid performances together in a row they are a bad team. Look everywhere in this sport, nearly any team club or country can play well for one game at a time. Get better, become winners! Not just good players. Only winners win.
Bro I now you want the US to be better but cut it out with the world cup winner, we are not going to see the US win a world cup, wake up from your delusion
Yeaa, the United States was powerful and they hold down Brazil like Brazil is nothing. This is the United States we need not with average Columbia that they are better than but made a mistake losing 5 goals to 1
I never wanted GGG hired, did no want him rehired and the only thing to change my mind would wins vs Uraguay and a knockout stage win. Columbia nor Brazil is barometer to keep him or not. We have to eventually turn a corner to playing a better brand of soccer, we have to eventually stop the kids are young excuse and that has to happen before 2026. These pacified and scripted questions in press conferences has to stop. Treat Greg with same energy you treated Klinsmann and yeah I would have fired him after CR as well. I thought team played much better vs Brazil.
Alexi, you are relentlessly forgiving of Berhalter. He is consistently out coached and inflexible in tactics. He - and all of us - need to be very realistic about the players we have and how to play against different teams. We need to be less predictable and more creative. And it seems like players are scared under Berhalter to take risks. We are not tier 1 and sometimes not even tier 2. And that should be our near term goal with this group - to be a top tier 2 team.
The blindess of this evaluation... This is the worst Brazil in ages, has lost several games to other south american rivals this wc qualifiers. They won't make it to semis. Neither team. Keep living in your bubble, lalas

So does rodgryo
Pulisic misses a lot of sitters
100% should have scored that. When you play top20 comp, you have to bury great chances like that, especially when you are the star player in that moment.
The pride team played well, Brazil 🇧🇷 looked like a average team not a powerhouse
Scally did show up👏
Musah has a very low motor and had poor first touches multiple times. Cannot overrate him because of one shot (that didn’t even go in)
Good job defending against an onslaught from Brazil.
Friendlies allow coaches to see areas of improvement and make adjustments to strengthen those areas. We need them friendlies
You guys read this present day Brazil team wrong. Your real challenge was Colombia. You will dream to go against Brazil then Colombia.
Brasil would be a completely different team in a competetive game!
Colombia beat Varzil in a qualifying conmebol game made them look bad
Nope. They have a weak defense.
@@alex1vid They mainly lack creativity in the midfield and have a poor defense due to mediocre fullbacks that allow dangerous breaches. They do not have an elite creative midfielder like Kaka.
@@alex1vidDo you know that the Brazil from the qualifiers was coached by another trainer right?
only positive from this game was that they clearly shook off the colombia loss mentally. wasn't the best game but it didn't look like a team that just got embarrassed.
This Brazil team is weak. There is a reason they are number 6 in Conmebol qualifying for the World Cup at the moment. They’ve lost against Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay and tied against Venezuela. They have amazing players but for some reason they don’t play well together.
USA was much better too
This is how the playoffs are:
1 Argentina 🇦🇷
2 Uruguay 🇺🇾
3 Colombia 🇨🇴
They are the best in Conmebol currently (they are on another level)
I’ve felt the same way about Brazil I feel like they just haven’t been super effective since losing Neymar Jr and no one is doing that playmaking role any justice and it really makes their attack feel toothless 25 shots and how many on target like half??
USA is a good team. They play with identity and will surprise.
The moment the United States does something other than lose the World start making excuses lol.
It is not the best brazil
however there has been an improvement
Fire Berhalter
SMH. Will we EVER break the wall to the next level?
the us still have huge problems coming out of the back , they will be coincide lots of goals
This was a winnable game that again we did not get. Standard of play and finishing has to be better
These boys shook off that L, and turned their entire game up some notches...and it showed the entire match, from start to finish. The US men looked rested, faster, focused, and locked in! I feel great as an American fan going into COPA; and mark it Alexi...I called it a year ago; after their 3rd straight Nations League...US and this special generation of players, will be in a semi in Copa...and will get their revenge when IT COUNTS...against Colombia!" I'm an American, so I will always cheer and go to bat for our team...win or lose. But I've been a die-hard Brazilian fan; since I was 16...and I'm 45 now, so I hate I hate I hate...when they play each other. But in this case, the US NEEDED this, Brazil didn't...and they know them and a world-class roster; will be just fine. So for that reason, I was happy to see US draw and not get absolutely decimated!"
Ngl u gotta tone it down a bit lol Gregg has a 7% winning percentage vs top 20 teams that aren't Mexico
lol if you’re really Brazil fan than you should know that this is the weakest collective Brazilian team in a long time. They’re mid table in qualifiers losing to everybody and even tying against Venezuela. Tone it down a bit. You should make it out of the group stage because you’re in a terrible group but that’s as far as you go since there’s no shot you’re getting past Brazil or Colombia in the next round. Semis for USA? Lmao please.
@@willgreig4077 --->And there lies the problem, let history stay historic...and talk about the NOW. Whether you want to admit it or not, the US looked like the same engine...when they've played at top form in big games; the last four years. These boys had one bad game, one bruh...one bad game, and now everything this group has accomplished individually and as a team in the last 4 years...suddenly means nothing 🤦🏾♂😤 No sir, this team is special and has PROVEN...they can dominate, show out, and silence haters too. So no, stop hatin' on a great performance against the kings of soccer...and turn up, and show support...when that support is earned. Tone it down, this guy...your hatin' badge is coming in the mail, I know you have room for it; on your Boy Scout vest.
@@imaketherules9316 I'm being realistic 😭 they lost 5-1 like 3 days ago and now TIED Brazil, It's progress but we have 5 years of evidence of inconsistency with GGG hopefully they can actually have positive momentum but u gotta have realistic expectations based on the track record
@@willgreig4077 --->Again, track record and past mean nothing now...not for Greg's job or the interchanging of this mens roster. My views and opinions are based on now and today's AWESOME performance. Using that, and how this group has performed and dug deep to pull out wins in the last four years...I feel confident with my verdict. Could I be wrong, of course...but so what🤷🏽♂ Right now though, for me...I see Colombia putting Brazil out in the quarters, the US putting Colombia out in the semis in a much needed revenge game, and the US losing to Argentina in the final or......or, the US getting that revenge in front of that ruckus home crowd and energy, and knocking out Argentina and rewriting that drubbing the US took by Argentina in the last Copa America.
The problem is when the USMNT loose to a big team we bounce back every time but the usmnt need to play like they want to win every game especially when playing big teams. Berhalter isn’t the answer, a different coaching system can bring the best out of our players, the quality is there.
It's not about being fair lAexis, we are not easily beguiled by a decent performance. Ever since Berhalter was rehired, you have become more of a GGG apologist.
I dont see US beating any elite team without Scully. He is by far the BEST player in that team. I would love to see Scully benched to prove my point.
Agreed lads - USA finally showed up. This its what it needs to be at this moment with this team. Against the top 8 teams
USA are a more of a counting attacking team. 2026 -lets get behind the lads but we are never gonna win it.
2:26 This is one of the biggest knocks against Greg. Historicly he has always liked playing from the back so I think that is what he wants to do. However Matt is terrible with his feet Matt either needs to use his hands or kick the ball as hard as he can down field and the USMT plan would be to press in tradition not slow development from the back and greg is either telling them to play that way or he is not telling Matt he needs to stop playing that way.
lol you feel good about this game? This game was like that Belgium game at the World Cup. Lucky not to lose 6-1
I thought Jedi continued to show that he's good to a certain point, against certain teams, but against the best in the world, I'd rather have a healthy Dest on the left and Scally stays on the right
Misspelled. It's COLOMBIA not Columbia.
It was a good game for the USA after giving up with Columbia 5-1 .It could easily have been Brazil 4-2 except the US Goalie had a great night .
Misspelled. It's COLOMBIA not Columbia.
But in tourney they will have played 3 or 4 games in a row
Brazil had 1 player from both games in the starting 11, and it was Alisson.
Lmfaoo. Tell me you’re Mexican without telling me you’re Mexican 😂
That was their b team wey....and they didn't even play good
Vini rodrygo and raphina ain’t their b team buddy.
GGG out !
Berhalter has to put together a string of games where they look good before we start giving him any kudos. What is that now, two games out of 5 1/2 years? Cmon, BJ was apart of more good games than this coach! Stop rewarding Berhalter for less than mediocre coaching
W Alexi Lalas and Gregg Goathalter 🐐
- MEXICO:
(i) Looking competitive in ALL their 3 group matches - if they don't advance, OR,
(ii) Advancing to QFs.
- US:
(i) Must advance to QFs otherwise it's a disappointment
-JAMAICA: Same expectations as MEXICO.
- PANAMA:
(i) Look competitive against Bolivia and look competitive in either one of their Uruguay & US group matches.
COSTA RICA:
(i) Look competitive against Paraguay and look competitive in either one of their Brazil & Colombia group matches.
The VAR was a couple of usmnt fans. There's no way you can call that foul on one side the brazil player got the ball and pulishit kicked him after he got the ball then turn around and go to VAR on the other side and take back the yellow card that was clearly a foul. Denial of a goal
no foul he got the ball, stop crying, its not little girls playing the game
What I saw was that if we don't give away the ball at the back line and send the ball to the forwards we got a chance to destroy any team in the world. Let's go!
USA vs Brazil for Paternal custody of Mexico
Can't really judge teams by friendly games. Wait until the tournament starts then you'll see the teams perform at their max.
Same with us
😂😂 *USMNT were playing with the refs on their side.
Im being very fair with Berlhalter , because Im judging his 5 years on the job not just one game. He needs to go
Real ones that watched the game know it was USLGBTQ + refs and VAR vs Brazil 😂🤷♂️
It was a fair game, USA isnt stronger than Brazil, but they managed to tie it.
importan lesson in football: never take conclusions based on a friendly match, If USNT plays Brazil in the tournement they'll probably would be destroyed
Doubt it. Brazil has a weak defense and mediocre midfield.
Until ALL the players including the GK are comfortable with the ball at their feet we will be a second tier team
The US game is always dificult for Brazil... I remenber 94, 2009
USA played a lot better in this game, however we need to recognize that Brazil didn’t play well. We will see what happens in Copa.
I still think Greg Berhalter should not have gotten the job again
I'm fair, I still want Berhalter out. One game doesn't change that. He's not been good enough, he isn't good enough, he will never be a good enough coach.
I'm Brazilian and I'm not here trying to discredit USA win, but me and a lot of Brazilians agreed that this Brazilian team is the worst team we ever had...
What did you say about Matt Turner a few days ago?
I'm tired of these people talking about this and that without being held accountable while him and other players have to mentally suffer from these 'criticisms'. So unjust. Shame on you.
Good result, better effort by the team but no progres made with Gregg second cycle with this team, sorry.
In competitive game, you guys are not beating brazil😂
Streich Field
Kudos to Gregg but he's still not the guy for the World Cup
Oh now be does an instant reaction video 🙄🙄🙄

Bro I now you want the US to be better but cut it out with the world cup winner, we are not going to see the US win a world cup, wake up from your delusion
Yeaa, the United States was powerful and they hold down Brazil like Brazil is nothing. This is the United States we need not with average Columbia that they are better than but made a mistake losing 5 goals to 1
Misspelled. It's COLOMBIA not Columbia.
Misspelled. It's COLOMBIA not Columbia.
Semi final or final in the Copa or Gregg should be gone.

Your wife is 1000% correct - it's a freaking friendly!! US soccer fans are pathetic.
Bet you thought USA would get crushed though 🤡 cope
Alexi, you are relentlessly forgiving of Berhalter. He is consistently out coached and inflexible in tactics. He - and all of us - need to be very realistic about the players we have and how to play against different teams. We need to be less predictable and more creative. And it seems like players are scared under Berhalter to take risks. We are not tier 1 and sometimes not even tier 2. And that should be our near term goal with this group - to be a top tier 2 team.
Richards is just not good enough. He looks silly next to Ream.
He played well last night. Get a clue
The blindess of this evaluation... This is the worst Brazil in ages, has lost several games to other south american rivals this wc qualifiers. They won't make it to semis. Neither team. Keep living in your bubble, lalas

Weah was dreadful. Musah was entirely mediocre other than the one little shot. McKennie was the third best player by far. This type of middling commentary is why no one takes American soccer seriously
Same of the same stuff…the only people who think that USMNT is good are USMNT fans. This is not a very good team that gets the odd good result. These two commentators are fans…nauseating! Especially Alexi Lalas!! In his mind, USMNT just won the WC!!
Brazil was trash today. Like they were not even interested pr motivated to do anything. They seemed as uncreative and dull as the US. Aweful display overall. If they play like this they wont get far.

Trying late in the game in front of the goal area the ticky tack tiny passes by the USA will not be sustainable in the competition .Clear the ball OK.
The foul that lead to the USA goal was not a foul. USA got lucky GreGG paid the refs to keep his job.
