Not sure if Australians would understand, but the little red truck is a classic image of small Midwestern town/rural life here in the States. It's not just one store pumping out red tuck+tree merch, but a lot of stores, because it captures a homely wintery feel in a forested home somewhere. It may not be an aesthetic cherished by people who already live in rural areas, but we big city people love it because it makes us wish we could live in that sort of life. It's like how people love to buy cactus decorations, despite living in a place with no cactus. It connects us to a wide-open land that we wish we could live in. (not me personally, since I live in Arizona, but I have seen the cactus aesthetic reach all the way to places like East Asia). Many people in big cities also love rustic decor in their homes, a decor that simply comes naturally to people living in rural places 😂
Can confirm. Am from the midwest, see the little red truck hauling a Christmas tree every year and decorate with cacti even though I'll never step foot in a desert.
My neighbor does a big light show and so I built a light arrow and made a sign that says "ditto." Plus a simple string of lights. He loves it and we get a kick out of hearing passersby by laugh about it.
My mom was obsessed with the little red truck decorations, and I was not into it lol. But since she's passed, I will be getting a little red truck decoration and turning it into a Christmas memorial decoration, just for her.
My moms christmas Item is stars I just noticed. I decorated our place the other day and there are stars for the walls, the doors, the shelves, more walls, dangling from the ceiling, lighting up in the windows and little star light chains (?). Funnily enough I didn't fully notice it before xD
10:46 I'd say my Christmas icon is probably reindeer. I grew up lowkey obsessed with my grandma's little white reindeer she placed under her tree every year, and I still stare at them when I visit for the holidays lol I hope I can have them one day.
I'm a reindeer Christmas theme person asel. I just love them. They make me happy and it just screens Christmas to me with warm fuzzy happy feelings . Makes me feel like a kid on Christmas 😂
@@MsHisingen I've played a similar game called the chocolate game. You have everyone in a circle with a bar of chocolate on a plate in the middle with a knife and fork, a woolly hat, a scarf and a pair of gloves and a dice. Everyone takes it in turns to roll a 6 and when you do (while the dice carries on being passed around and everyone else is trying to roll a 6) you have to put on the hat, scarf and gloves then use the knife and fork to cut one square of chocolate off to eat. If someone rolls a 6 at any time you're trying to put it all on, they have their go to put it all on and get a square of chocolate cut off. You spend more time trying to roll a 6 and get it all on than you do eating the chocolate 😂
There's a house in my neighborhood that just throws a string of lights around a tree in their yard and puts up a sign that says "we tried!" And it's honestly the effort I'd put into decorating the outdoors.
My friend had a bday party for her son and similar to the box and oven mitts...she used miles of bubble wrap and taped the SHITE out 20 small gifts and rolled it up/ taped it all along the inside of the bubble wrap. The kids sat in a circle and we put on music... who ever had the ball when the music stopped got 30 seconds to tear into the tape and bubble wrap to grab as much stuff as they could. It took a good 20 minutes for them to get through this 3.5ft diameter ball and get all the toys. They could only use their hands. No pushing with their feet or balancing it on their body. Hands only on the floor. It was pretty cute :)

The little red truck is a very common decor motif in the US.
