... the weight distribution with the engine like that is going to be horrific. not worth. just go through the proper effort of moving or swapping the trans.
Or they can keep that transmission and get a shorter driveshaft so the engine can go back more against the firewall cause they don't need it that far forward and its going to throw off the balance of the car and make it more heavy in the front.
William gates i get that for sure..im restoring a 68 mustang with not much money, obviously parts are needed but not paying anyone to do any work on it.
If you use a 1993-2004 xterra frontier pathfinder 2WD 5 speed transmission its the same transmission you have now but just 4 or 5 inches short to shove the 2jz further back and yes they're just as strong as what you have now.
Seems like you’re creating way more work figuring out the rad/intercooler/mounts/hood, etc. when all you need to do is take the driveshaft out and shorten it 3-4 inches lol. Maybe I’m missing something lol
I thought he explained that it would be less trouble, less fabrication, if the transmission was a direct bolt in . There for that is the basis for setting in the transmission and allowing the engine sit forward. However it forward a bit too much.
Watch JRGo crossed this bridge on his very awesome and entertaining "Rolls Smoke" LS swap that is now playing. And you will notice he had all kinds of highly skilled buddies at his disposal to weld and fabricate and do what it took to mount the transmission. I dare say Tavarus is not fortunate to have tthat nor skilled enough of a car guy to make short work of something so labor intensive. Jared is very very good however.
I've been watching Tavarish since he bought that Aston from Hoovies, really enjoyed all the content since, but you guys together make a good duo ! Funny and entertaining. Well done !
Says : "everything will go fine from here" Realises nothing fits in as planned But then again, the optimism of these guys make this content so fun to watch.
Man be nice to Jared. He's a good man and friend to you, seems very loyal like he'd truly have your back if someone was talking Shiate about you. Those kind of people are rare nowadays brother Fred. You're a good man too Freddy. I love your attitude and kind outlook.
You know..I started watching tavarish ep one of the fire damaged Lamborghini. I enjoyed ever since. HOWEVER, Tavarish and Jared together? So much more enjoyable. Love their dynamic
Florida black bears live mainly in forested habitats, and are common in sand-pine scrub, oak scrub, upland hardwood forests and forested wetlands. Black bears in South Florida are the only American black bear subspecies to live in a subtropical region.
Really digging this channel and Jared’s knowledge of 2J’s is impressive. That being said, I would love to see a build involving Japan’s OTHER inline 6, the Nissan RB.
That’s why I gravitated to hot rodding Chevys many moons ago even if I preferred other brands over the years for daily drivers or specific functions , lots of interchangeable parts among the brand , especially transmissions.
Looks like you guys need a $200 5-spd BMW gearbox and Collins adapter & coolerworx shifter. You can move that sucker back to where you need, replace the front sump with a rear one and you're GOLDEN! Skip building all that complicated nonsense up front.
I wonder if the transmission tunnel would interfere if you shifted the engine back farther? At that point it would be easier to just go cd009. Trying to take notes for my build.
For the Radiator solution, I used a similar front (ahead of core support) setup when I swapped in my RB26. Not to self-promote, but if you check out EP17 of my swap vlog, I show the rad that I went with. It was a C&R Racing dual-pass rad that is approx 13x24, which fills that entire front space perfectly. And SPAL supplies the electric fan and cowl in the kit. Lemme know if you have any additional questions. Here or IG.
Not sure how far behind we are or if there are other plans. If it's possible try swapping the 2JZ engine mounts from side to side. It looks like they might angle back over the original mounting points better.
Side exit fireballs are a badass idea!!! I would run a hood so you can run in the rain if it happens. Remember driving lambo in rain. Also you can mess with the front bar an chop it up and fab around everything
I seen a 1JZ fit in the 300ZX with out much issue and they're about $1000+ cheaper than the 2JZ. You should have got a rear sump for that engine and moved it back. What I love about the 1JZ-300ZX combo is that the 300ZX now has plenty of room under the hood to work, Nissan should have went back to the straight 6 when they came out with the 1990's 300ZX.
This reminds me that I'm still waiting on the Volvo ghini video. Peter is struggling a bit to fit a v10 mid engine front in a Volvo. The gearbox didn't fit in he's late so he cut it off with a angle grinder to shorten the gearbox.
This car is gonna be so badass when it's done, love it! Tbh, I had an unsprung 6-puck clutch in my E36 and daily drove it just fine to be honest. Just gotta be gentle. I put it in because I wanted the clutch to be ready to make 3-400 hp and take whatever abuse I could throw at it... Of course, now that I've actually got enough money saved up to make 300hp, it's probably time to replace the clutch again... Only thing that bothered me was that the pedal is suuuuper heavy but yeah, whatever.
for radiator question i have a idea: if you are going to make it streetable then go with your thoughts, but if not then why not to rock a rear radiator setup, that will clear up front and give room for activities, while shifting weight back which makes car sit straighter not lean towards front
The z32 chassis is a front engine mid Mount set up. Having the engine in the front message up its balance. Short in the drive shaft set the engine back And it might actually handle like it's supposed to.
Why do the dirty jokes on this channel make me laugh so much. 😂😂 I would fit in perfect with Freddie and Jared in the shop with my dry humor. Great work guys !!!
I used to have a 93 300 ZX Twin Turbo 5-speed. I loved that car. It used to go sideways with ease. Anyway, one thing i noticed about that swap, what about the hood? does the motor fit under the hood or are you going to cut it so it fits the motor?
Love that Jared chronically out "Smart Arses" you! You could get a bit more flexibility on where then 2JZ will sit; I believe the upeer pana nd sumpr from the Lexus IS 300 is forward sumped- I know of an IS 300 that some "Stalians put a Toyota V12 into, and it required either a compatible chassis (Toy 5L V12 is available forward sump only and no other pan set will bolt up) or a dry sump (other "Stralians blew that away by CAD- made an upper pan that fit the V12, and shifted the sump enough to fit it into a Supra!). At any rate, a look through a Toyota junkyard might be in your future! Most Toyotas and Nissans under the skin re use the same parts or parts closely derived from what they have used n the past- I suspect there is a bolt in front cross member for Earl (from say an S30 or S31 Z Car) with rear mounted R&P. I may be wrong- I am not as smart as Jared, and unfortunately make as many as three mistakes in a year. This year's New Years resolution is to get that down to two; I think I am going to have to cheat- only counting the bad decisions when I get caught out! There is about an inch and a half, make that 35mm, you can and need to get the 2JZ back. It will simplify much afterward; this swap (no, I don't know the details) has been done before, and on YT. When/If I find it I'll post it too you!
Wrenching every day is better with a partner. I had a 2005 Kia Optishit that started falling apart at 125k miles. Everything under the hood was meant for tiny people to work on. Having a skinnier partner in grime made it a lot easier and more pleasant to take apart and replace damn near everything but the engine.
You can use a Twin Turbo clutch in the NA Trans, You just gotta Grind a little and i do mean just a tad bit at the bottom of the NA trans! And BTW, You Said that backwards, The 6 puck is the DISC and the other is the pressure plate! Not disc!
I love how Tavarish asks a question and Jared instantly goes into full professor mode.
He reeeeeealy understands cars.
Jared is a fantastic addition to this channel.
They're a great couple. Love watching these guys

Just change the transmission and simplify the whole damn project. Still gonna be a sick ride. Love this channel guys.
