People are caught up in the theatrics, and the performance. You got churches now that are preaching one thing but are not doing the work. More people are turned off and you can’t blame them one bit. I remember when my cousin got pregnant by the pastor & my family sent her down south to have the baby. I was 10 years old & when she got back, my family tried to make me think she (the baby) was a cousin from down south. I'm 57 now & even then, I knew I wasn't crazy! I had questions about the whispers, but at 11, I was seen and not heard!
You know what’s crazy… I’m from the south and people use to send their pregnant girls up north so when people asked… where’s such and such… they would say, oh she went to stay with my family up North… they needed some help 😒 so if anyone was sent up north we knew they were pregnant and someone else in the family was going to raise their baby

I'm a PK. I grew up in this era of Gospel Music. My Father (Pastor) warned me as a young musician of this threat lurking in the pews. This is a very well-kept secret of the sordid underbelly of the Gospel music industry. And, no one wants to address it unless they're Pentecostal (Praise God), COGIC or NOI. When I got older, he told me that as a young Minister he was approached by a few Men IN THE CLERGY. And, that explained why we left certain congregations in my youth.

My dad actually pastored for a little over 50 years in the Baptist Church and I've witnessed and heard so much detestable stuff in my life while dealing with the clergy and church leaders but let me tell y'all something, I know very well these topics are so taboo and swept under the rug in the so-called black church, it's because in sooo many of these instances that have been brought to light pertaining to the behaviors of the bishops, apostles, pastors and overseers , a lot of the laypeople and members of the church are either directly involved,complicit or have known about the misconduct but because they don't wanna, "put their mouths on the man or woman of God", they turn a blind eye. My grandfather was a Deacon, and I too am a musician. My grandfather used to shield me often as a child, and he would often warn me about being exposed to the dirty secrets that takes place in the church. Although that's where I've gotten my start as a young musician which also was another outlet to keep me off the streets, I've never understood why because of my love for wanting to play/perform. As I've gotten older, he would share stories here and there, with some in graphic detail of what he'd witness. Needless to say that now in my 50's, I totally understand. Though he's no longer here with us, I thank him to this day.
I'll never forget when Eddie Long made that video talking about his weight loss was from working out and a vegan diet. I wish he had just been honest. Most people already knew what it was.

I visited the church where James Cleveland was the pastor in Los Angeles. I couldn't believe my eyes as to how he conducted service! ( I have nothing against gay), but his whole church was gay! Ushers, choir, deacons, associate ministers, mother board, armor barriers even the teens! James Cleveland had full control of the whole service and he sweated a lot (kind of made me wonder if he was a junkie needing a fix). When he stepped into the church walking to the pulpit he was followed by an entourage of men of all different ages (even young boys along with a few women who looked masculine. He had his way of telling the church to "shh shh shh be quiet!" The controll that he had over the church was very strange to me and I never visited ever again! The choir was one of the best and I will always enjoy his gospel songs.

The Black church is full of too much hype, emotionalism, and materialism. I grew up in an urban Black church as a child. The music was good, the preacher could hoop, and the choir was dynamic. However, in that church I never heard a message on salvation.
This is why I'm glad to have knowledge of self and I raise my children with the ancient spiritual information and knowledge so they are fully aware early and would never have to be exposed to the foulness of the black church and it's many predatorial members! I got two Suns and just think what if it had been one of them following so called church leaders because they're black, preach the Lords gospel and have a large congregation or following therefor blindly putting their trust and faith in them because they were vulnerable enough to do so. I completely agree with you. I am happy that you brought up this topic. That is the reason why I always ensure to protect my son by not leaving him with anyone. It doesn't matter how famous or successful a person may be. Initially, my son thought I was being overprotective, but as he grew up, he realized the importance of my actions and now thanks me daily for being so cautious. I wish all parents could do the same and stop protecting predators instead of the victims.

This is right on point. Me and my family grew up in a church organization in South Carolina. We come to find out that the head bishop was stealing the member’s money and sleeping with young boys in the church. The people didn’t wanna believe it at first but when the bishop died, everything came to the light and a lot of churches under the organization left. These type of things need to be spoke about in the church. It’s too many people suffering in the church because they are being paid to keep quiet or they are sent away.
As an aside, It absolutely irks me when I listen to (or read) a news report about an 18 or 19 year old black male suspect being referred to as “the man” while a white male suspect of the same age is referred to as “the teenager.” It can’t get more obvious than that.

We've had incidents like these happen right here in Jacksonville, Florida. Over the years since the 70s that I know of from reliable people. What these young men said I believe them because he was saying the same type of rhetoric to the congregation there! " You have to praise your daddy!" Ummm, no my daddy is not in this church. No man in any church is my daddy. Now if you have earned my respect and that title, I will address you as Pastor or Rev. But I don't praise man, I praise God!

I visited the church where James Cleveland was the pastor in Los Angeles. I couldn't believe my eyes as to how he conducted service! ( I have nothing against gay), but his whole church was gay! Ushers, choir, deacons, associate ministers, mother board, armor barriers even the teens! James Cleveland had full control of the whole service and he sweated a lot (kind of made me wonder if he was a junkie needing a fix). When he stepped into the church walking to the pulpit he was followed by an entourage of men of all different ages (even young boys along with a few women who looked masculine. He had his way of telling the church to "shh shh shh be quiet!" The controll that he had over the church was very strange to me and I never visited ever again! The choir was one of the best and I will always enjoy his gospel songs.
He also started a gospel convention GMWA which fostered a similar environment

The Black church is full of too much hype, emotionalism, and materialism. I grew up in an urban Black church as a child. The music was good, the preacher could hoop, and the choir was dynamic. However, in that church I never heard a message on salvation.

I completely agree with you. I am happy that you brought up this topic. That is the reason why I always ensure to protect my son by not leaving him with anyone. It doesn't matter how famous or successful a person may be. Initially, my son thought I was being overprotective, but as he grew up, he realized the importance of my actions and now thanks me daily for being so cautious. I wish all parents could do the same and stop protecting predators instead of the victims.

I used to watch Eddie Long on the word network. I used to tell my friend that something was sexually fluid about him . My friend texted me years later when the allegations came out. The wives know they stay for the prestige and money meanwhile lives are destroyed. I've seen a few abuses in the church and I don't put no man pastor on a pedestal.

I also remember seeing an article on King James where it showed young boys at home in his pool. So people have covered things up for years.And I'm a PK grew up in church.Churches need to stand for right.

This is right on point. Me and my family grew up in a church organization in South Carolina. We come to find out that the head bishop was stealing the member’s money and sleeping with young boys in the church. The people didn’t wanna believe it at first but when the bishop died, everything came to the light and a lot of churches under the organization left. These type of things need to be spoke about in the church. It’s too many people suffering in the church because they are being paid to keep quiet or they are sent away.
This is why I dont do religion anymore. I could never wrap my mind around how much abuse of all types are so prevalent amongst Christians.
As an aside, It absolutely irks me when I listen to (or read) a news report about an 18 or 19 year old black male suspect being referred to as “the man” while a white male suspect of the same age is referred to as “the teenager.” It can’t get more obvious than that.

I have had a few incidents like this happened to me in my late teen early 20's but the street & self-defense side of me handled it violently with the backing of my parents that kept silent back then swept under the rug (I'm 55 do the math lol) I didn't have to come out back then due to the way I handled it but 80% of the congregation new

We've had incidents like these happen right here in Jacksonville, Florida. Over the years since the 70s that I know of from reliable people.
