Introduction To Voltage Regulator IC's - L7805 IC

In this video we’ll be covering linear IC regulators. In previous videos we create voltage regulators using zener diodes and transistors. As with all modern day electronics, they make everything small nowadays so they come in the form of IC’s.
The L7805 takes a dc voltage of up to 40V and outputs a solid 5V.
These IC’s have a lot more circuitry than the standard circuitry we used before.

Is it possible to get an linear regulator that can make the output voltage greater than input voltage with out going into the world of switching boost converters?
