    I really appreciate this video. I like your comparisons. I like your cut shots to show color and size. I’d love some shots of the trees to compare as well. A mention of the trees growth habits if they are different. How high and wide you keep them trimmed vs how many pounds of gallons you are getting a year, guesstimates. Thanks for the video.

    Do you need another plum tree to pollinate the Shiro plum? Or is it self pollinating?

    When does Shiro bloom relative to Shiro? I'm in SE Georgia and am trialing Shiro here grafted into a Chickasaw plum (P. angustifolia) rootstock. (Grafting onto chickasaw adds a lot of disease resistance in our hot and humid climate.) My one-year-old scion broke dormancy really relative to most of my cultivars, so I'm wondering if I should worry about it not blooming with a pollinizer. The University of Georgia published a plum guide which contains a chart comparing the bloom time of our southern plums to Santa Rosa. If I can find out when Shiro blooms relative to Santa Rosa, I should be able to figure out when it will bloom relative to the varieties I've got. Thanks.

    I like to pick the Shiro plum when it's so ripe that it's about to split. That's when you have juices running down your arm and face

    I have two pluerry I just bought, will they pollinate each other or I need a burgundy plum to pollinate you think?

      I would assume they will pollinate each other. However, the more flowers you have going at one time the better your odds of cross pollination.

      I’m in zone 7a (Boise, ID). Last winter it got down to about 10 degrees (same with this winter). These trees survived a winter as low as 0 degrees F though.

    You mentioned that your mother has a Santa Rosa plum…in your opinion which do you prefer based on fruit quality alone, santa rosa or weeping santa rosa?

    • @Boisefruit
      @Boisefruit  2 роки тому

      I haven’t had them side by side, but I can’t tell the difference, very similar.

      @@Boisefruit Ok, thanks for the reply. I’m probably going to add one of the two, any other considerations? Yield, bloom time, tree size etc… Thanks
