After hours of research, I went ahead and bought the X Power after this video. The one thing I wish you had included, that all reviewers seem to ignore, is a quick example of the texting screen. Reviewers today are so eager to talk about mega-apps and nuclear launch capabilities and playing Dark Souls 3 in 4K at 120 fps that they neglect to show the phone part of the phone-call quality and texting ease. Other than that, very in-depth. It gave me that little push I needed to commit.
Looking for an Extremely long lasting battery life, and a great price? The LG X Power might be right up your alley! In this video we will do a full review of this device to help you to decide if this is your next phone, share your thoughts, comments, questions, and concerns and enjoy the video :)
Nick is there much of a difference between this model and the one from Cricket Wireless? Just ordered one from Cricket since its my provider but I believe it said it was quad core, and 5mp rear camera. I think quad should be decent enough
Thanks for the reply buddy, I still have the Moto G (Gen1) from 3 years a go and the only reason I needed to upgrade is because the aftermarket batteries are crap, I was running so low on memory that I had to remove stock apps in order to have space to update the most needed and basic every day aps.... So I thought the LG has gigantic battery, probably outperforms the gen 1 Moto G + I can expand the memory bank and the cost is $90 at my provider so I grabbed it. If I was happy with 3-4 year old model phone then the LG should do fine + it has the most things I need expandable memory + long lasting battery.... Already ordered case for it and 32 gb micro SD slot, if it last 4 years till the battery craps out I'll be happy camper. Mainly I use the phone to talking so hopefully it doesn't lack the most basic function, listening to music on sound cloud at the gym and browsing + checking email. It should outperform the Moto G (gen1) which I was happy with it anyways but it just no memory room in it and I cannot find original stock battery for it, even if I did find stock battery that is good the lack of memory would of made me upgrade the phone :( I definitely can not justify spending $700 on a phone, but the Power X for $90 looked a phone that will last me 4+ years and that's very acceptable.
Thank you for the review Nick. I just ordered these phones today for my family and myself and I know that they are not the BEST of the BEST, however, for a smartphone and the price I do not think that we are getting a bad deal. I purchase covers because I did see where someone wrote a review and said that his cover shattered without it being dropped or anything, he was pulling it out of his pocket. We previously had the Samsung Gallaxy 6S and initially was going to get the Samsung Gallaxy J3, however, our Sprint salesman talked me into the LG X Power and said that it was a better phone than the J3 and 6S. I guess time will tell. Loved your dog and appreciate you going the distance with the good, the bad and ugly. Nice video. Great work.
Nice review, I am interested in two things I didn't hear about: 1. Expandable memory partitioning? Some budget phones don't have a memory partitioning feature, which prevents one from downloading apps to the expanded memory. 2. Readability in direct sunlight? Does the screen get bright enough to read in direct sunlight? Many flagship phones (old an new) also have this problem, but it's always good to know and gives a good measure of the brightness of the screen. Also, I do actually prefer the plastic (actually polymer) construction, it makes for a more durable phone. The relatively high rigidity of aluminum housings make it so more energy is dispersed into the screen during an impact, making it easier to shatter it.
I have only watched this video and I am super impressed. The only comment I want to make is the speed that you use to display what you are talking about. You young that know all the nicks and crannies of electronics need to slow the presentation for us older types. You obviously know your subject. I am at a point with my x power that I am replacing it with a new one. I came looking for an explanation of home to copy all the info to be transferred to the new phone. I would like to know all about my phone and it takes time...at 72 I don't have a ton left. I am also want to experience virtual reality with this phone. I have purchased the headgear. What is a good app to have a fine experience?
This is a very good and fair review. I had this phone and returned it to Virgin Mobile because the price went down $50 a couple of days after I had it and they couldn't refund the difference - it had to be returned. Anyway, now that the phone is $80 from Virgin Mobile, I'm considering buying it again and watched the review.
I just got my LG X Power for free from boost mobile for switching from T-Mobile. The awesome thing about the boost mobile version is that it's got the 8 core 1.8ghz processor and all other carriers Lg X power have only a 4 core 1.2ghz processor. The only thing is it's got the 8mp camera while the ones with the slower processors have the 13mp camera, but i will take the faster processor anytime over the better camera. Plus i just ran a benchmark and got a score of 42833 on my phone which is just amazing for a budget phone, a friend of mine has the Cricket version Lg X Power with the weaker processor and he only got 22642 score, so boost mobile version phones score double compared to the other versions of this phone. I am very happy with this phone and i love the $50 dollar unlimited data plan too.
After all the updates since this video....Camera photos not bland looking and no over exposure? App load instantly + great multitasking? speakers as better if not better than iPhone or S7? Nougat 7.0 or 7.1.1 right now? Battery life screen on time at least 5 hours? Will it last easily the whole day?
Great review mate. I was wondering if you could comment on wifi connectivity. Any issues with that in your experience? My current phone is really lame and old and doesn't connect to wifi anymore. I am thinking of switching from Virgin to Boost cause this phones only $60-80 rn. Any other thoughts that you had in the past 5 or so weeks? I think the camera is pretty great for the price of the phone. The front video is impressive imo but the rear video is a bit of a let down compared to the front camera performance. Anyway thanks for the review.
Blurry Face Sorry nobody answered you. Wifi connection is very solid with this phone. It connects right away to my home network when I return snd the Cricket Wifi Manager connects it automatically to ATT hotspots.
I had this phone, it was really good. It would sometimes freeze but it was rare. LTE speeds (Boost mobile) were excellent because this phone had the LTE Plus bands. It is very economic too. I broke it and my deductible was very fair
hey nick quick question why do you think lg or boost make you use google messenger and google pictures but not put lg's stick message app or calendar etc?
I'm extremely interested in this phone, and there's a deal on an unlocked model, but my only hangup is that the last lg phone I owned(G3)was almost unbearable as far as color and contrast. Everything else was okay for the most part but the screen just let me down everytime I turned it on and I ended up replacing it soon as I could. I want the incredible battery life, but I cant help but wonder what good a neverending battery is if I dont enjoy using the phone lol. Would you say the screen saturation-wise is an improvement over the g3?
The problem you mentioned with the screen, does that mean it's no good outside? The phone I have it terrible outside. I can't see anything and I want to upgrade.
got his phone with Xfinity, they make you buy a phone to get a Sim. will be putting the Sim in my phone . can't complain since I get cheap Verizon unlimited service for 45 a month
Great vid. Im using its little brother (Tribute HD) (X Style). You should check that one out. Its super thin at 6.9mm and light. Its a nice phone but as expected the battery is sub par. Other than that its pretty snappy. I havent had any signifcant lag on it. Im actually liking the LG UI. BTW both phones use TFT not ISP displays. Some websites get it wrong...but still very good TFT displays. I might grab an Xpower since its now only 79.99 at Boost :P
Battery is large... But run Waze for a few hours with a bright screen and it's toast.... Mic and noise cancellation have issues which can render the phone a lemon....
happy with phone so far but somehow i changed the swipe setting. now i now to use 2 fingers and/or highlight icon and click 2ce on it. how do i reset back to swipe with one finger.
This phone is not the best in sunlight but I would not say terrible, most phones cannot handle extreme sunlight though unless we are talking about premium gadgets like Samsung Galaxy S8 for example!
I was about to pick up this phone but damn it if the Speaker isn't among the worst I have heard on a smartphone (and rear facing to boot). After having a Moto G4 Play as my daily driver I can't go back to rear facing speakers.
Bought the phone dude - thanks! Now I can't find any voicemail icon or TEXT icon -- WTF?!? Figured out a work around but nothing in apps appears to be there to represent these features (I also installed the HOME app to make it more user friendly like the LG Volt2 I had. These are ESSENTIAL buttons - HELP!
You can buy the LG X Power 2 at HSN for $139.99, it was on sale last week for $129.99 By TracFone with 1500 minutes/1.5 gig of Data/1500 Texts for a year www.hsn.com/products/lg-55-16gb-tracfone-with-13mp-camera-and-1500-minutes/10074165
Jessica Johnson u can get on Xfinity mobile. 6 bucks/mo for phone, 12 bucks for a gig of data, no line access fees. So you'd be at around $20 bucks per month before tax.
Will I notice any improvement over my LG Volt? Yes I am getting an upgrade! But beings that I am 67 years and had a party line when I was 5 years old, and we got a dial system in 1960, had B&W TV with 4 channels....Now in your estimation, will I be disappointed? Really?? Ha Ha!
2:25 8cores? 1.81GHz max?? What version is the phone? U.S version? I live in Greece an the same phone is a 4core 1.3GHz max... ( www.skroutz.gr/s/9751440/LG-X-Power-16GB.html#sku-info )
I have this phone. If you just need a phone to be a phone, this is great. Gaming is okay on easier run games, but do not even think about running a high end game. Also, front facing camera is pretty bad. I keep reader mode on all the time because the screen looks very blue.
No, it does not. Having been using it for more than a year, no such problems, while it being my primary device. It does get a bit warm, while charging but nothing to get bothered and please note that, I'm saying a bit warm, not hot. Hope this helps!!

Nick Ackerman You're gonna find yourself
I've likely read and watched 50 phone reviews today and found yours the most informative and easy to understand. Thanks !
+Al Bowman Thank you for sharing that feedback, happy this was very easy to understand for you! Appreciate the positive reply :)

Best phone I've owned by far....this proves you don't have to pay a tremendous amount of money for looks and quality
I just bought this phone after this review for 50 dollars it's unbeatable. :)
Awesome review. Great job this was extremely informative!
+Christian Capetillo Thank you very much appreciate that!

Nick, out of the ZTE Warp 7, LG Stylo 2, Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge and LG X Power which phone would you recommend? Thanks.

It's a good thing you had the octa-core. Other reviews used the quad-core edition and deemed performance terrible.
Great video I chose the Stylo 2 because of the weak camera and no gallery for my photos and no removable battery. But it does seem like a good phone.
best video ever you are amazing!!!!!!!!! i subcribed !!!!!!!!!

J. Manuel yes
How do you put the sim-card, and SD-card in and out if it's a non-removable battery?
Tyler Warlord4211 It has a tray on the side that you eject with the included SIM tool.
I watched one UA-cam video that showed this mobile phone is terrible outside in bright sunlight, what are your thoughts on this?
This phone is not the best in sunlight but I would not say terrible, most phones cannot handle extreme sunlight though unless we are talking about premium gadgets like Samsung Galaxy S8 for example!

Go with Cricket Wireless. They use AT&T towers and their cheapest smart phone plan (Unlimited Talk & Text w/ 1 GB Data) is a flat $30/month.
Jessica Johnson u can get on Xfinity mobile. 6 bucks/mo for phone, 12 bucks for a gig of data, no line access fees. So you'd be at around $20 bucks per month before tax.

No, it does not. Having been using it for more than a year, no such problems, while it being my primary device. It does get a bit warm, while charging but nothing to get bothered and please note that, I'm saying a bit warm, not hot.
Hope this helps!!
