My CZ chain has 34k km and still rocking no issues
Wrll done, Usyk. The undisputed
🇬🇧
So you applied loctite to front sprocket only to let it dry and then tighten the nut spreading it?
I think it might be better to install the nut temporarily without loctite and only apply it when you are ready to give it its final tightening
Hi, the set time is around 10-15 minutes for the treadlocker, you have that time window to tighten or readjust the nut. Thanks for your notes ✌🏻👍🏻
Nice video. Thank you mate. Can you tell me your opinion about the SuperSprox Orange? I´m about to change Chain (DID-525 ZVM-X) and sprockets of my 2010 Super Duke 990 and I found the SuperSprox, but I´m not sure if it is a good choice.
Hey, thanks. So far so good, not a single issue with it. It is a good brand with good quality if you want some bling, go for the stealth/colored one. JT is also a good choice. My friend with an RSV -Factory 1000 (V2) also uses Supersprox stealth gold at the rear and JT at the front with a DID chain (I think it is a 530, hefty one).
@@Mr.Bearded.Mechanic Thank you a lot for your prompt answer. I'll buy the 525 Supersprox Kit (front/rear) and the DID chain. Here in Brazil, it is very difficult to find out Super Duke 990 parts and accessories.
Hey man just some advice I would see about rebranding your channel given that there's another motorcycle mechanic on youtube with the same name as you and he's quite popular and it'd be a shame for such good videos to go unloved just because of a shared name. Good info mate!
Hey. Yeah, from the first time when people commented about some Craig and make fun of my channel I did not know whom are they talking about. After some search l found out that there is a guy who has the same channel name as mine. I also found out that he and I joined to youtube in 2007, I was a bit quicker by 1 month. I put some money to the channel and the name over the years but my, and Craig's sake I changed my name to Mr. Bearded Mechanic. Hope the youtube algorithm will kind to me
Nice Video! 👍👌
Did you notice any improvement in the riding when changing the front sprocket?
Thanks, yes I can now use a better rev range in town. Before that 2nd gear was too high, 3rd gear was too low (the bike sometimes surged). This setup gives a 7% rev increase to be more specific. For example a specific speed before needed 3000 rpm, not it needs 3210 rpm.
Really great stuff, thank you. I am getting ready to tackle this myself. Totally forgot to get a locking washer, do you recall the one you got? Was there a reason to bend the washer? Is that why it's considered "locking"?
Thanks. Yes, the locking washer is essential to ensure the front sprocket nut remains tightened. You can reuse the one that you have. Just clock it 45-90° on the spline to use a non-bent part of it.✌🏻
@@Mr.Bearded.Mechanic Thank you sir, I just looked and mine's crimped only on one side, doesn't look as abused. I don't have as much anxiety reusing it. The nut's a 30mm isn't it? Also have you found and easy way to clean the drain pipe from the gas tank, mine usually gets clogged every season
@@siribiriz The nut is 27 mm.
For the tank drain pipe, I think use a thin aluminium wire or a pick to poke any dirt from the end. Or try to pinch and roll between your finger and the end section of the hose to loose up the dirt inside. You can also open the fill cap, cover the hole with some rag in your hand, and spray brake cleaner in the drain hole to see if it can drain (brake cleaner evaporates quickly in the open air, so it won't harm anything, even if you put some on the gas tank). Try it on a cold engine, hot header, and brake cleaner combo that can cause a fire.
Once I almost flooded my gas tank with water when I opened the filling cap after pressure washing the bike. Thankfully I had a microfibre cloth in my hand and immediately put on the inlet so the majority of the water was soaked up.
@@Mr.Bearded.Mechanic Cheers, ride safe. I appreciate all of this information.
👍
Is that sprocket lighter?
Supersprox website says 30-50% lighter than the OEM/steel one. I would say it is about 30% lighter, by feel.
How many kilometers did your chain last?
12 000 km✌🏻
It would probably last another 10k km but I could no longer stand the chirping, and growling noise of the rollers and the never-ending chain adjustment. ✌🏻
@@Mr.Bearded.Mechanic Try this next time, take the rear sprocket off, rotate it one slot, and put it back on.
This will most probably fix the uneven tight spots on your chain.
Edit your videos bro
Nobody wants to watch 5 minute pin grinding
Thanks
Also you do not have to grind the pins on a 790. Just remove the left foot peg and the chain comes off like a necklace.... 😅😅😅😂😂😂
