Found this channel by chance and it’s great! perfect timing for me, after 35 years as a paramedic in the NHS I’ve realised it’s time to move on with what I’ve got and not worry about the future but embrace it and change the mindset. Thanks Eddy, your an inspiration and have given me the kick up the backside I’ve needed for so long....onwards and upwards😀✊🙏
Total agree with you, when my life went tits up and totally and utterly pear shaped, I Googled agricultural contractors in NZ, got myself a job out there at 47, came back a totally different person, I didn’t really know the people, didn’t know the country really, doing a job in agriculture I had no experience of, had no money, just a return ticket air ticket, I was well out of my comfort zone and on the other side of the world doing it ! Loved it, and it totally transformed my life, but boy I missed my daughters !
So happy I've found this channel, so true! I could listen to this guy all day. Sometimes you have to hear it to realise yourself . Just turned 60 and when I thought it was all over this person has made me see I'm just starting . I feel like I've been pulled out if a dark tunnel !! Thank you!
Nice one Mr. Hope, big concern for me is that a huge chunk of humanity live their life through a keyboard and screen with kids never ever getting outside to play, explore, climb a tree, go for a walk or for me we were free to ramble along the beach making dams in the rock pools, my awakening to my career as an engineer. All the passive people today need a kick up the backside.
I printed out the diagram "From comfort zone to growth", which I think is a really useful way of looking at personal development and where you are on the journey. Thanks for that.
Hey Eddy, you just popped up on my tele this morning. Watched your video on retiring at 50. Wow mate, we have so many parallels. I retired last year at 51. 4 years in the military and 27 years in the Police. Retired on ill health grounds (PTSD, depression and anxiety) My wife, my two young children and myself moved to South West France last year. If interested, I have a video on my channel called PTSD and me. Now that I have found your channel, we look forward to catching up on your videos. Rob and Lisa 👍🇫🇷
Reminds me of a book called The Comfort Crisis I started listening to on Spotify. It encouraged people to take on challenges that were only 50% likely to succeed and also not to talk about them or post them on social media, as these were meant to be deeply personal and not about showing off etc (not suggesting you are showing off, Eddy 🙂). I have always enjoyed pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, whether it is on my mountain bike (I have the scars to prove it!) or in my working life. Sometimes you crash and burn, but that's when you know you are really getting out of the zone and starting to grow.
This video is incredible. I'm only 22, but for as long as I can remember, I've struggled with mental health. I've got Autism, ADHD, EUPD/BPD, and a few others, and this video is so true. I struggle to get out of my "safe space" because I'm scared of everything. But realistically, that's because I've normalized myself to rely on my safe space ONLY. Recently I've been doing therapy and I've been stepping out of my comfort zone and it's helping me immensely. Thank you for bringing awareness to such a difficult challenge for people like me. Also, it's amazing that you're in Kielder Forest. My mum has so many stories from her childhood of holidays she had there. My mum was actually the one who recommended this video to me.
Nice one Eddy... nothing better than getting out into the wild and deliberately placing yourself into 'discomfort'. It helps you appreciate life and all it has to offer. People ask me why I would camp on hilltops in the wind a rain... I ask them why they wouldn't 😂🤷♂️
Love this channel So true Eddy Fortunately I figured this out in my forties But I still have tendency to slip back into laziness Apparently, a load of US Vietnam war vets were asked when they most felt alive … they all said while enduring tough times The sofa wasn’t mentioned once Were born to live and explore
From Australia. I would have to say that one way of pushing yourself out of your comfort zone , would be a bloody nasty divorce where you manage to lose everything just a decade before 60. That should do the trick. And then, the long climb back to sanity. Work, work and work. But i will make it, and so will you. Fight and take some time to watch nature at its beauty.
This comment would have been better on my retirement video as I discuss life changing events. It’s a perfect example of why the planned future is just a figment of one’s imagination

Thanks for the video Eddy, can you or anyone else suggest hardship ideas for a busy professional who is not retired yet?
