Zverev plays way better when he s the underdog rather than when he s supposed to win. Those first round struggles really did not lead anybody to believe he could deliver such a shocker. Great match from him
If he really plays better when he is the underdog then why is this his first ever top 5 win in a grand slam 😂😂 If I remember right Zverev constantly reaches deep stages in grand slams only to lose to better/higher ranked players.
@@reynjokernah he's just making shit up, Zverev was playing well in previous rounds, it's just that Klein and Norrie really pushed themselves and maybe Carlos would not make it through them.
Be Honest: Quite A Few Of Those Who Have Written Here Didn't Believe Zverev Could Do It. That Was A Very Good Performance. Alex Has Such Quality Inside.
@@reynjoker if you compare the level he played at in the first rounds compared to this one - you ll see the difference. It's not that he is winning a lot when he s the underdog - he just tends to play his best more often when he is not expected to win. Take the Olympics f.e. it's just less pressure. He said that himself btw
@@reynjoker He maybe would have beaten Nadal in French Open 2022 if he didn't get injured. While he lost the first set I think he was the better player on that day.
Zverev's serving was insane today, 85% first serve and they weren't slow either.
200km/h average speed
Not a fast Hardcourt either, if this was the atp final court he wouldn’t have dropped a service game or set
Medvedev would counter that easily I hope Medvedev Djokovic final.
Да Зверев удивил, что даже Карлос ничего не смог поделать...просто зверем был сегодня, вот если так сыграет против медведя у него будут неплохие шансы обыграть его!))
@@pauljohnson6019не дай Бог...!))
Zverev played beautifully today - really improved his forehand!
Zverev Played Courageously Because He Needed To. That Was The Tactic. He Managed A 95% Success Rate At The Net And A Topquote With The Service.
Actually finding Kyrgios commentating so entertaining, he intuitively knows what’s happening that split second before the other commentators react and his enthusiasm elevates the viewer’s excitement!
The first two sets were just mindblowing by Zverev. I literally couldnt believe what I was seeing.
and how quickly the bookmakers’ rates on Alcaraz changed from 1.2 to 21
Reminded me of the first two sets of the US Open final against Thiem when he outplayed him in every phase of the game.
First ever top five win in a major. Thats crazy for such a great player
Hmm? Could? Could it be, that Varlos was over greatifyed? Over commercialized? pempered & forced to let the public like him? Let's face it, other big tennis players came & went, as well as other plyers wer slow comers, but SUCHA came through like a czunamy!!
The backhand from zverez is something out of this world..and when he served like he did..almost impossible to win tonight!
the issue he has is the BH to BH rallies against Meddy are in meddys favour as it is the more solid shot, Zverev has to pray his FH is solid and he continues to serve well, Meddy in 4 IMO.
@@ciaranselva dont agree. Zverev has the best backhand on tour. I just hope he takes Pushvedev out.
When we all thought Zverev would choke he did prove us wrong! Well done man well
Done!!! 😅
So true. I thought he done for after that third set, but this was phenomenal. A match for the ages!
I am really surprised that Zverev came back after he lost the 3rd set. The momentum was clearly on Carlos‘ side. So even if I am more a Alcaraz fan, I have to say well done Sascha!👏🏻
Yeah Carlos shouldn't have played the drop shot on that break point.
What momentum??? Alcatrash was two sets down and facing exit.
@@katerinapatiniotis5598Definitely. Yes, he is a good player, a really great one, but why always this exaggeratings? Zverev was way better today.
Sasha has never lost a match when he was 2 sets up except for against Thiem what are you on "he's thrown away these kind of matches before"
@@anrijsc1037 He literally lost the us open final from 2-0 up
zverev played so good!!!! Happy that he is back
As a fan of Alcaraz, i have to say undoubtedly Sasha game was insane today. Contgrats.
💕 Love Zverev's humility. Never chest-thumping nor flexing his muscles conducting the crowd. Alcaraz had attitude when he walked into this match. How humbling. Well done Sasha.
that was his first ever top 5 win in a major. wow. thats insane. i hope this is his breakthrough for many more of such wins.
Me too!
@@marcos.1481 french open 2022 he defeated carlitos in the quarters 3-1 sets didnt he
@@riotinto3903Carlos wasn't top 5 then. It was Zverevs first top 10 win though.
Zverev's good but his game's pretty limited. He did raise his game against Norrie and Alcaraz too but let's see if he can keep it up
Even if the last one, great achievement
Sasha played so well across the entire match, even When Carlos lifted his level it wasn't enough. Great match to watch!
What a great feeling to see Zverev rip the crowd's mouth with this stunning performance!
Yessss!!!! Who would have thought that... I am sooo happy, that Sascha did it against Carlos!!!!
Not first time ,,,Zverev did it also, in the near past, take out Alcaraz on clay slam,,,,,,not time long ago
today alcaraz looked off mentally .. gave his service games away so easily so many errors he usually doesnt hit .. but hes young cant expect him to be perfect every game hes still so far ahead for his age he will only learn from this .. and zverev wow fully deserved .. serving like a maniac too strong from the baseline executed his game plan perfectly .. as a alcaraz fan it hurts but fully deserved victory for sascha well done 👏👏
He usually hits a lot of errors. He’s actually dubbed as the UE-machine.
he is just weak and overrated thats it. nowhere near Novak level.
He was off today
@@novakgoatovicwhy did nole lose against alacaraz in wimbledon?
@@novakgoatovic if you would be so sure of that you wouldnt feel the need to comment such nonsense here .. your insecure .. 20 yr old alcaraz is levels above 20 yr old novak and you know that yourself .. novak himself has the upmost respect for alcaraz and said he never played a player like him .. try to learn from your idol a little bit and stop spreading insecure nonsense
Its almost unbelievable that this guy didn't won a slam yet. That only shows how good Big 3 was.
It's his fault that lost to Austrian guy
No fist pumps from Zverev like he usually does. He stayed focused on the game and he won.
Hat's off to Zverev!!...That was a career defining victory today!! 😃👏👏👏👏👏 As for Alcaraz you've really gotta wonder WTF he was either trying, or not trying to do for the majority of this match, because he was absolutely shocking!! 😳😳 Credit to him however for at least turning what was about to become a complete rout into a contest, at the end of the 3rd, and most of the 4th sets! 👍
Zverev was playing very well!!
Он был в недоумении просто...неожидал что немец будет так хорошо играть...и с этими ударами по линии немца не смог справится!))
The level of the top ATP players is simply amazing.
Congratulations to Sasha, he deserved the semi-final. Alcaraz faced easy opponents as the tournament progressed, and at the very first serious match Carlitos fell apart.
Its funny that people are complaining, that Zverev only won because Alcaraz was only at 30% of his game. Well it always takes too. Every time when Carlos begin to push himself and was about to start a run, Zverev outplayed him and took away the hope. It was a stunning performance and the only thing which brought Alcaraz back in game were Zverev`s nerves.
no.
@@farhatk6054 yes!
One might argue that the only thing that gave Zverev easy 2:0 lead were Alcaraz's own nerves. He has to learn to calm down and play smart when his usual aggressive game is not working (or maybe absent is the better word). I guess he felt he should be playing much better after the great performance against Kecmanovic. But every match is different, he obviously didn't feel the ball well today, but he should have given himself a chance to slowly build up his level while keeping it physical for Zverev. Instead of that he was getting more and more frustrated by his own errors. The comeback in the third set was a bit of a miracle after playing so poorly, but he already gave Zverev too much hope and confidence in the first two sets, which he threw away so easily. I am sure he will win matches from 0:2 at slams in the future, but doing it against such an experienced player in the quarters is too much for a 20 year old.
He made 45 or so unforced errors . You know what it means? Your zverev had nothing to do with it. He literally played like sht. Was sending it out even while standing still
@@Nat-oj2uc That's not that many unforced errors for a player as aggressive as Akcaraz playing a good defender and over 4 sets.
Never ever seen Zverev as good as this match, it’s from different world well done. Just to say something Alcaraz just pleasure to watch what a joy, an extension to the greatness of the big 3
Carlos had no real chance last night. Amazing performance by zverev. A real dominator, when he is on fire.
The scream level from Alcaraz makes it impossible for me to watch him play. I only hear his roar all the time now 😢
Well done Zverev, he's playing the best tennis of his life.
What a fantastic Game from Zverev 🇩🇪 vs. Alcaraz 🇪🇦 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Contre l'alcatraz c'est jamais facile
Alcaraz no jugó nada bien, aún así merecida victoria de Alexander el cual es a fin de cuentas muy buen jugador 😉, saludos desde España
Nah it was boring except 3d set. Too many mistakes by Alcaraz . Didn't play like top 30 even
@@Nat-oj2uc you're boring and predictable in your negativity against Alex Zverev
@@davidmv207 non ti capisco
Good signs for Norrie too, hopefully.
Well done Zverev. Semi final against Medvedev should be epic. As should Djokovic v Sinner.
Zverev will win quite easy. Sinner Djokovic will be legendary battle I hope
You make 10 minutes highlights but somehow don’t include the deciding break of the match?
ive found the editing of tennis highlights to be a general abomination....
That co comment was in love with Alcaraz. Hopefully he is doing well after such an easy win for Zverev.
Alcaraz hadn't a real opponent until now, Zverev....
Also Zverev beat him 2 months ago in the final tour....so i knew its going to be tough match...well done
Zverev Medvedev?
Something was missing in Alcarz game. His drops his ability to come to the net, hidding harder I don't know. Congratulations to Zverev! It is good for him that he didn't go to a five setter!
Great to see Zverev back at this level. Fantastic!! Alcaraz, glimpse of magic. The future is his…
Обезьянка никогда не будет первым!)
People forget how good Zverev is because he's such a meme. Him and Medvedev have the best HC movement of all time for any tennis player over 6ft 6 and when combined with big serves can be lethal. Funny how it seemed like both guys were getting overtaken by Carlos and Sinner and now they've both dumped Carlos out of slams
Zverev was on fire today. What a great win.
Wonderful display from Zverev! What a clean hitting! So much better than the crippled match he played against Thiem in the US Open final. Common Alexnader, this game can take you far. Being an Alcaraz fan I think Alexander was by far a better player today.
He's FINALLY back to his great Form after his severe injury last year!
I like the punishment for the commentator, his support for Alcaraz is clear. 👋👋👋
I was about to write the same, they're basically openly rooting for Carlos, they sound so disappointed when Zverev delivers great points. Shameful lack of professionalism on their part.
Isn't that kyrgios?
He just bet on Alcaraz's win 😁
yes it's him he was fun to watch and now it's fun to listen to him too...they just hope for a final between the best 2 but sometimes people like sasha won't give u what u want@@marcoscalari3883
@@prikolist0779 Ah well, I'm sure with his wealth it won't matter to him too much.
The shot at 6.08 was so good even the commentator said fuck
Саша был сегодея идеален, его попадания в линию были очень сильными
that's an extraordinary display, especially after an ordinary performance in the previous match, well played zverev. congratulations!!
Let's goooo! Couldn't believe checking in and seeing a 6-1 for the first set
when Sascha forehand works and he comes to the net with confidence: the world class Tennis we witnessed today. Granted: Carlos might not have had this best day - but still great! Wonderful quality. Congrats to Sascha for this BIG step forward. Unbelievable that this is a quarter final and not the final. Sascha is definitely a thread for Novakovic.. He has beaten him a couple of times. Lets see what the semis will bring. A LOT of great Tennis. And Nick K on the mike is a treat.
As one journalist said, Alkaraz is bigger treat then Novak this year...😂
Congratulations to Zverev
Judging just from this clip I am assuming commentators (or just one of them, not sure) are very big fans of Carlos. Screams of joy when Carlos hits a winner and hums of disappointment and generic comments when the same is done by Zverev are very unprofessional from a TV station that exclusively covers AO
Yes. I thought so too.
So Impressed and so amazed by Sascha ... he deserves to be back where he owns to be. He was #3 and he's on track to be back with the top top guys. Glad to see him back, it's a privilege to watch such an amazing fight bewteen champions. The future of tennis is in good hands!
Great match. Two amazing athletes.
Insanely high level from Zverev, playing 5 setter almost every single match definitely gave him confidence that he can come back and win it all after that fiasco from third set. Always a good thing to lose few sets in GS so you can actually see where the most improvement is needed and to become mentally stable in high pressure situations like he did, awesome match. Sinner is next on the menu 🎯
Zverev's level of dangerousness skyrockets when he lets his arm loose on the forehand side. Serve and backhand were already very good in the previous rounds, but that was stellar. ATP Finals winning run level!
All the best to Carlito, but really well done from Sascha ..all people saying, Alcaraz was off,not there...reason is that Sascha was better player.period
I have never seen Alcaraz come from behind and win in his matches with Zverev, but Djokovic, no matter who the opponent is, even if he starts badly, he comes back from 2/0 and wins the match against a strong opponent.
How does it feel comparing a living legend with over 18 years of experience to a 20 year old? Would you please remind me what was 20 yo Djokovic doing and how many matches he won against top 10 players being 0:2 on the slams? Thanks.
Yeah your talking bs
Today it was one of the matches of Zverev. I think even Djokovic would have lost today. Absolutely insane performance of Zverev. WOW
Nole will never ever come back from loosing against sinner
@@patrikmarflak6559Djokovic at 20 won a grand slam and many masters titles, having beaten most of the top players at the time including Nadal and Federer. He even had one of the strongest Masters title runs ever at that stage having beaten no. 3 Roddick, no. 2 Nadal and no. 1 Federer in the final itself to win the Montreal open. He was also the youngest player to make the semi finals of every grand slam. He may not have exploded from the scene at such a young age quite like Alcaraz, but he was still a prodigy.
.... das freut mich.... hatte ihn ja die letzten Monate und Jahre ein wenig abgeschrieben...
das freut mich.... das ist ein ernstzunehmendes Zeichen.... wünsche ihm weiteren Erfolg
Never write of Russian who play for Germany hahaha
Zverev has had many disappointments in not delivering, then injury. Hats off to him and would be great for tennis if he got this Slam.
Александр играл уверенно. Удачи в дальнейшем. Браво.😊
I did not expect Zverev to win this one
Нереальный матч от Саши! Мои поздравления!
Zverev like a express train 🚊 😂💪
What a match!
That's it.
I'm backing Zverev for this tournament!
Nah it‘s either gonna be sinner or djokovic, so that semis is gonna decide the tournament
zverevs play was out of this wourld I was so amazed by him
What a great match for Alexander! After Grigor Dimitrov was beaten this man is my new choice for winning the trophy!
6:06 Kyrgios with the "NOOOOOOOO, hehe fuck". Love it
Zverev Played Number 1 Tennis In Almost The First 3 Sets.
Every time Alcaraz speaks about breaking Djokovic record's...he looses next match, some respect to the big 3...
Zverev forearm was like a canon today
*Media on 16 July 2023:* "We enter the Alcaraz Era"
*6 months after:*
Alcaraz lost his No1 spot and won 0 tournament out of 8
Djokovic extended his weeks as No1 and won 1 GS (maybe another major in a few days) 1 Masters 2 M1000
Alcatraz😂😂😂😂😂
Djoker at 20 was nowhere near where Carlos is, and so he himself has the outmost respect for Alcaraz and said he never played anyone like him, so please, shut up, will you?
Ај разгули љаксе 😂
Један је Ноле и само му можете лагано да завидите
Stupid comparison.
Zverev did a good job today. Very focused. Impressive! He has a greater reach due to his tall body, however that’s not the only reason. Alcaraz played not even bad. He now has the maturity to reach out for the grand slam title
It was one of the best performances I saw from Sascha yet. Absolutely astonishing, he could keep this level even when I recognized he started to have problems with his physical state, especially his feet. That’s why I have doubts he can win this tournament, he just put to much effort in the earlier stages.
Djokovic and Zverev shown that consistent solid play is more effective than erratic spectacular play.
I agree Zverrev was the best today. But I don’t agree your reply. How many years on tour, and how many grand slams for Zverrev?
Shut up. I just saw the highlights and Carlos didn't play well today. I barely saw good dropshots or cannon forehand, which he usually do. Carlos at the highest level only have Novak as a true rival
@@franciscoperezfernandez3367 We can no longer say it was an accident. It is the 9th consecutive hard tournament that he loses with 8 different players. I would also put Sinner.
and? @@PythonicMindset do you expect him to win all GS being 20 years old? Of course there are also good players, and everyone can lose against a top10...And as I said, Zverev was incredible today. All respecto to him
@@franciscoperezfernandez3367 yes, I expect him to win at least 2 tournaments out of 9, we are already talking about a player who is ranked 2nd in the world and has already won 2 GS. Expectations are high after you manage to beat Djokovik at GS.
Why were the commentators backing Alcaraz so shamelessly?? All quiet until he started playing well, those shrieks during the third set tiebreaks were some next level fanboying
Because they don't like abusers?
Good Match from Sascha, hope he can win the his first slam ,he desevereds to win 🇩🇪👍😊
Zverev at his peak can really beat anybody although his match with Medvedev is gonna be so competitive regardless.
Impresionante Game. Alcaraz a pesar que perdió, he played very well!
Could be a career-defining win for Zverev. To turn the tide back in his favour like that against an Alcaraz who was totally locked-in after taking that break in the 3rd, is EPIC.
Zverev looked so good! %85 first serves in, and an average of 205kmh! Wow! Didn't get too rattled by Carlos in the 3rd either
Great audio from eurosport, with that crowd's cheers before point ends lol

Wahnsinn! Hervorragende Leistung von Zverev.
Zverevs best performance ever
Best performance in this tournament for sure. Maybe in grand slams too. But "Ever"... Hard to say. His olympic title run and this two ATP Tour Finals were of equal level. Carlos also helped at lot with all his errors in the first two sets.
Beating Djokovic at his best in Olympics was definitely a huge performance, needs a mention here.
Not the best but def up there. Just off the top of my head I can count his performance against Nadal in RG in 2022 and his 2021 ATP Finals against Novak were even better.

Zverev is the best
Zverev outplayed the grunter left, right and centre, he was breaking him at will. Alcaraz was lucky not to go home with straight 1, 3 and 3 L.
damn, salty. Get well mate (zverev grunts just as much)
@@user-kp2ts3qo4pimp alcaraz grunts louder and more consistent😂 but thats not the point. Sascha played well throughout the whole match. Alcaraz was bad in the first two sets. Too many errors. These first two sets could have been similar to set 3 and 4
@@user-kp2ts3qo4p Mate, Vamositos is one of the most terrible grunters after Nadal. He also have terrible late grunts that should be called as hindrance when he hits some backhands. Dude is not salty, he is just real. Alcaraz bad days are pretty bad. Big 3 could almost win against anyone in any form when they are on their bad days. Carlos struggles a lot if his low percentage shots don't make it.
@@user-kp2ts3qo4pAlcaraz is quite literally one of the worst grunters I've ever heard. He also audibly grunts well after his actual shot motion which shows it's more of a distraction tactic than genuine.
Yeah the grunting is an issue
When Sasha is in days like this, he is undefeatable
On Wimbledon will be even more pressure on Carlos, he’s defending it
Always fascinating when a player who seems so thoroughly in awe of another player, comprehensively outplays them.
Best Game i ever have seen from Zverev 💪🏼
SF Olympics Djoković was better.
As a fan of Djokovic, seeing the fans heavily on Alcaraz's side, I had to root for Sasha, and boy, he did not disappoint.
