- Parkway Plaza is a fresh-uncovered gem of small town shopping. Although its seen better days, it still holds out and provides a place to shop, eat, and see a movie in Madisonville KY.

I’m from Madisonville Ky and there for a brief period of time parkway plaza was a great place late 80’s thru the 90’s. The key fixture was pirates cove the arcade. It was what is now all of the dollar tree store. Also had a record store called sound shop also a toy store. Godfathers pizza and a taco Casa which is now Tommy D’s. It had a pretty good shining moment there for a while with the cove being the pinnacle
There used to be an arcade called Pirate's Cove where the Dollar Tree is now. It was a fantastic arcade. So many great childhood memories. I honestly have no clue how this mall is still open. No matter when you go, this is what it looks like.
I love architecture way too much, especially with malls and skyscrapers.
This video just popped up in my feed, and it is sureal seeing a video about the mall I've been going to since I was a child. Its never been a super busy place but its always served its purpose.
They need some Mom and Pop places to fill the empty spaces. For a mall this empty, a surprising amount of corporate chains are still there.

I live in this town, and I can safely say that a lot of small businesses don't really last too long out here. The town is basically becoming a ghost town in my opinion
I was there opening day. It was a madhouse!
Back then Pier 1 was called Pier 11 and it was in the strip mall.
But when the mall opened stores were packed together tightly. Pet store, t-shirts plus, I can name so many.
The wooden benches and trash cans are original.
Small businesses can’t afford the rent there. You’d think the owners would want the place filled.
What’s sad is with the larger chains gone there isn’t a place to buy non-athletic clothes for kids.
I want to thank you so much for visiting the mall. I noticed that there was a nightclub there. It's been a while since I was there.

That thing that looks like a night club with the blue windows next to the movie actually used to be a YMCA work out center/dance studio.
There’s never been a nightclub in this mall.
You’re probably thinking that Tommy D’s is a nightclub. I imagine it’s more like the restaurant Johnny Rockets.
honsetly seeing this video in my rec sorta worries me. i've not once watched one of your videos, and I live about 30 minutes from this mall. cool video though, if you're ever back in west kentucky, there's a mall in owensburo across from the best buy that's just about abandoned

Don't worry too much. While Parkway Plaza isn't in the best shape, I've seen far worse, and it seems to be hanging in there.

I helped open the Radio Shack in that mall (as assistant manager), in the early '80s.
A dear friend, Ronnie Noel, was Mall manager for a great while.
I live around there, and I love the mall! I always visit the GameStop there, and it’s the first place where I got my hair cut really short for the first time, so it holds a lot of memories
I don't really like the ceiling of the mall because it feels like I'm going to work in the office. With that being said, I like the entrance of the mall. I also like the windows of the pizza place. I love the vintage architecture for the plants. 🧡the BBW, and my favourite architecture has to be the Hallmark store. So cool. The bubblegum stands are so nice, especially with the changing neon lights and the awning. One of my favourite bubble gum stands ever. Overall an ok mall.
The Hallmark store (Readmore) is likely the last surviving original store of the mall. Looks like they significantly improved their entryway since I was a kid in the 80s shopping for books there!

Hey this is my hometown mall. I’ve had a lot of dates and made a lot of memories here. It’s not much but it’s ours.
Hi, im from around there and this mall is fun and nice amazing movie theater but due to mall losing popularity there is only the reasurant and the movie theater and a handful of shops. But overall this mall is fun has all my nice memories and i cant wait to go see new movies there

I bet I’ve driven by this mall over 100 times. I’ve never been in there. I’ve been pulled to the RV dealership in front of the theatres but never stopped. I might just stop in because it looks fairly vibrant.

I have pictures of this place back in the 90’s when I would trick or treat here. It used to be more lively back then with the Pirates Cove arcade.

I remember whet his opened. I was in high school and it was such a big deal. It’s such a depressing dirty stinky place now. So sad to see it like this.
Yeah we are pretty close to this mall so we go here to watch movies and get some stuff although I know this mall is really struggling I mean everything is pretty closed the plants arnt always the best looking and I remember the Lego store next to the dunham I wish I could get it back to how it used to be

I am in Casablanca, Morocco I went to the Marina Shopping Center. It was interesting to see how similar but different a mall is in Northern Africa. I recorded a complete walk through of the mall.
