I value well considered analyses, like once again this video. Certainly will keep my subscription to your channel! As for what Checo really needs to do from now on, that's something so obvious even when keeping in mind that as far as I can see Perez has never been a real quali-killer, but an expert on recovery races, it will still be expected of him by everyone. he has the most positions gained 1st half of 2023 (yep, nr 1 on this topic) with 59 overtakes! The theory regarding Yuki vs Daniel is very interesting, though I don't forsee either of them in the 2nd RB in 2024. Surely Jakobi will have made sure that Checo's contract is very tight and solid. Horner I find intriguing with his statements. Sometimes crystal clear, sometimes reading between the lines required, sometimes feeling diplomatic and political and sometimes perfect fit for an episode of DtS....
Thank you 😊 That means a lot to me, and I really do appreciate your subscription! Haha yes, I 100% agree with comments regarding Horner. He’s very good at saying a lot, but saying nothing at the same time! I think he likes playing with the press, and being in the spotlight, something that he’s used to, being married to Spice Girl. Yes, Perez has never been known for his 1 lap speed. Even before Red Bull, he was always known for his race pace, and in particular looking after the tyres for much longer than others. It’ll be interesting to see how all 3 do for the rest of the season
@@andychatsf1I'm counting the days now for Zandvoort to commence! That town is only 20 minutes from where I live!! I wonder if Verstappen will stay at the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam again, that's only 20 minutes walk for me hahaha.. I doubt it though. I need a paddock pass!!!

@@andychatsf1 I cried out of despair and it also was a bit tongue in cheek tbh!! There is no way I can afford a paddock pass (they go for 1100 euro and more) so I dropped the question to RBR and CH and of course I will not get it haha. Prices for the GP are ridiculous indeed!! I'm afraid I'll be watching from home, but I'm not really heart broken for it.. It has advantages after all ..
not sure why F1 looks down on US motorsport, but it's obvious they do with the lack of super licence points etc... but yeah Andretti would be good for F1!
I enjoyed your analysis! I wonder why so many analysts think Yuki is so good! I like and agree with your Mick Schumaucher comparison. Let's see what Ricciardo does after the mid season break. I give him 2 races to learn and adjust to the Alphi Tauri car and do some Alpha Tauri simulator work!
Thank you! & yes, I’m glad you agree because I was wondering also! I was starting to doubt myself haha I’ve read quotes from Horner saying it only took 11laps to convince them Riccardo’s still got it, so we’ll see how it does. It adds a little more intrigue to the races, which is good
Does anyone know if Perez is contracted to Red Bull Racing specifically or just Red Bull? Wondering if they can play musical chairs with him like they did the other drivers signed to Red Bull and not a specific team.
I suppose they could do if they want, the question is.. would Perez want to? The other drivers in the past were still new to F1. Perez is a husband with a family etc
Nothing officially out there, but reading in-between the lines if he keeps performing he'll be with AT up until Honda stop supporting them at the end of 2025
Perez doesn't need a new contract for next year, he's already contracted to drive the RB20. What he needs to do is make it uneconomic for Red Bull to eat his contract and associated sponsorships.
Perez will be next to Max. Ricciardo will be leading TorroRosso. Perez did so much in 2021 and 2022 to prove his worth. This year he is 2nd in the championship easily, and has already a couple of wins. He is exactly what RB needs, plus he's proven quantity. Kobayashi2.0 isnt nearly good enougj for RB and Ric.. i dont feel he is a guaranteed improvement over Perez. Im quite confident he'll be next to Max in 2024. Also Perez doesnt need a 'new contract' for 2024, he is already signed as fsr as im aware.
You seem to rate Ricciardo a lot. Prime Ricciardo destroys Gasly? I really don't think so. Beats him? Maybe, by a small margin (not sure though), but destroys him no. Gasly is a huge talent, but born in the same generation as Verstappen, Leclerc, Russell, Ocon, Albon, Norris. That's a lot of great drivers. And I'm not even talking about the younger ones like Piastri, Tsunoda, Lawson, Drugovich, Pourchaire, Schumacher, etc. Ricciardo was lucky to be born in the 1988-1995 generation, one of the poorest in talent maybe ever. 8 years, and you have in these years Ricciardo, Perez, Bottas, Vergne, Bianchi, Sainz, Magnussen, Kvyat, Frijns, da Costa, Latifi, de Vries, Alguersuari. There are some very good drivers of course, but no world class drivers. So he had an easier way into F1, and was less disturbed for several years by some new prodigies coming into F1. Had Gasly been given the time at Red Bull, who knows where he'd be? Ricciardo was lucky in 2014 to find a car that suits him and not Seb (because I doubt someone seriously thinks that Ricciardo is faster than prime Seb), but then he was beaten by Kvyat. (Kvyat is good but is not Vettel either) Ricciardo wasn't the one fired for the sole reason that he was more marketable and that Kvyat bad race gave RB an excuse to fire him because they had to sign Verstappen otherwise they would have lost him due to contract issues. Danny Ric could have been fired in early 2016. Ricciardo is obviously a fast driver, and a good driver overall, but he's nowhere near Verstappen, and even though he may be better than Tsunoda (but Tsunoda isn't as bad as you suggest, last year he wasn't that far off Gasly while in his 2nd season), I don't think he's the solution for Red Bull. I think Red Bull has a good half season to see what Danny Ric can do, and maybe he can do a better job than Perez, although Perez has a higher ceiling than Ricciardo and always has, and if Perez wakes up, he'll be ok. Then Red Bull should fire Ricciardo, and replace him with Lawson (or Iwasa maybe if he has a fantastic end of season, though I think Lawson's a better choice right now). Tsunoda+Lawson in 2024 at AT, and then if Tsunoda hasn't gotten even better, replace him by a youngester (Iwasa, Hauger, Hadjar, Crawford, who knows who will be in the best position 1 year from now)
Yeah, I do.. maybe it’s my memory playing with me, but I do rate prime Riccardo as one of the best. Maybe I went a bit far with my words over Gasly, but I do remember how The Hulk was still very highly rated until Riccardo was his teammate, and then that season basically ended the hype around Hulkenburg. But we’ll see what the future holds, and who AT go for next season. This move is an extra layer of intrigue… oh, someone else mentioned Palou as an option, that’s a name not listed on your list. It’ll be interesting for sure to see what happens Thanks for stopping by! Sorry it took a while to reply!
Ricciardo was really good and he did beat Hulk, but he didn't crush him. 54 to 37 in 2019. The number of points doesn't tell everything but it was close. And Ricciardo was one of the best in the 2014-2018 period, yes it's true. But I think, and that's just my opinion, that he's part of a quite weak generation. If you look at the 1988-1995 generation of drivers (I always consider a generation of drivers as being 8-9 years, or half a career), you see that it wasn't fantastic. You have Ricciardo, Perez, Bottas, Vergne, Bianchi Sainz, Magnussen, da Costa, Frijns, de Vries. Nothing great. Some are very very good, but no elite driver. The extraordinary 1996-2003 generation, and especially 1996-1999 with Albon, Ocon, Gasly, Verstappen, Leclerc, Russell, Norris weren't there yet except for Max. But Kimi, Massa, Button or Alonso were already passed their prime or in a bad team for Alonso. I think he had a window of opportunity to shine and he took it, just like Bottas who ended up at Mercedes because there weren't many great but experienced relatively young drivers. But as I said, it's just how I analyze the situation. Maybe he was truly better than Vettel and beat him because of talent alone and not because Vettel's style didn't match the new cars of 2014 @@andychatsf1
I've got a different theory; RBR is going to overhaul the AT team. They want to make ik a 'sister' team instead of 'junior' team. With significant better results. So they are evaluating their drivers; DeVries never had the trust nor the chance, he should never have signed up there; Lawson wasn't in the picture because the quality of the car would destroy his F1 career before it would ever start. Yuki is a Honda driver, and they went with AM from 2024 onward so that is Yuki out. As soon as they have that shitbox somewhat running Lawson will get his shot next to Dan.
