    We’ve been renting our 28 foot Grand Design for the last two years. We’re in Magnolia Texas. Cleaning the rv, just the inside takes us a good two hours. That’s stripping the beds and washing everything and cleaning the bathroom and wiping down walls and cabinet doors.
    Every third renter we clean the ac filters and do a even deeper cleaning. It’s time consuming. We’ve went to a 3 night minimum and it doesn’t rent as often as it did when we were doing 2 night minimum. It’s just a lot of work for just two nights.

      Good call, so far the 4 night minimum has been working for us.

    Also on the cancellation policy what we’ve had 2 or 3 renters do is they wait until 7 days before it’s supposed to go out and they call us and say they want to move the rental back a month. Then if you let them move the dates back then their able to cancel the rental and it not cost them anything.

      Now that's a bit devious. Luckily we haven't had anyone try this out on us.

    Thanks for the video! Is your net income number for your two RVs or just the grand design?

    • @DriveNorth

      Thank you. These numbers are just for the Grand Design. Still trying to sell our Mallard.

      @@DriveNorth thanks for your reply. Just out of curiosity is Mallard not making money and that is why you sell?

      Yes, 5% discount for a week, 18% discount for a month

    Hi, does the $1500 deposit effect the number of renters or just a way to get that right customer or is this an average deposit? I'm in Southern Maryland and there are about 4 people in this beautiful area that rent. If you know this area, it's idea and I'm looking to get into the business.

    • @DriveNorth
      @DriveNorth  2 роки тому +3

      We didn't get a drop in customers at all when we upped our security deposit. We have noticed that people that rent at this price point tend to have a little more money and seem to take care of their stuff and our RV. I wouldn't want to get into the budget end of RV rental. Best of luck!

    How do you plug your trailer into a 220 outlet?

    • @DriveNorth
      @DriveNorth  2 роки тому

      For household outlets there is an adaptor. Otherwise a 30amp plug in is needed.

    Do you adjust your hitch to their vehicle?

    • @DriveNorth
      @DriveNorth  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, we have them measure the distance from the ground to the top of their receiver and adjust our hitch to that prior to pickup.

      @@DriveNorth Have you ever had an issue where someone's vehicle they plan on using to tow the RV does not have the proper receiver? For example, I would be concerned that someone's vehicle was only equipped with a ball hitch and not capable of using anti-sway bars.

    Is there a limit to the amount of days you may use your own rental per year?

    • @davidba7418
      @davidba7418 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah the limit to use your own trailer is 365 for the year. 😁

    • @DriveNorth
      @DriveNorth  2 роки тому

      No, we plan out our year in advance and then block those days off in the rental platforms.

    I hope you see this and can help me out. I jumped in and got my van on Outdoorsy. My first rental request came in for a 30 day trip to Yosemite. I feel I wasn't prepared. I am not sure what to ask the renter about a trip this long. Is there anyway I could ask you some questions? Give you my email or something? They want to rent in two days. Thanks.

    • @DriveNorth
      @DriveNorth  Рік тому +1

      Wow, that is a big first rental! A lot of our pre trip conversation consists of getting a feel on the renter's prior camping experience, what equipment we provide, towing set up (not applicable for the van I suppose), etc. Validation of all drivers is important, as well as clear expectations of milage, security deposit, and how the systems work. Some people expect there to be an endless supply of water and electricity no matter where they are set up. Go to my website and use the contact form if you want to ask some more specific questions. drivenorthrv.com

      @@DriveNorth Thank you so much. I did not get the rental. So bummed. They gave me 24 hours notice they wanted it. When I pulled it out there was a leak. I got a mechanic to take it in to get me turned around and back on the road by the time the renter wanted it. I thought it was oil and got it to the mechanic to find out it was transmission fluid and the drive over fried my transmission. It had a brand new one but there was a seal not right and caused the leak. Now I lost a $3750 rental and will cost $1800 for the transmission. But the renter contacted me that he had found another camper for his trip. But felt bad I jumped through hoops for him and offered me as a referral for other family that will be needing a long rental soon. Good to know about your website as I get some experience behind me. Thanks for the quick response too. You guys are the best.
