    The mantis is great for drills that you might only want to run once or twice due to the relatively high round count. The Travis Haley cadence accelerator is one of my favorites. For a two stage trigger, i also like practicing going between hammered pairs where i just ignore the first wall and then slowing down and breaking a pair off the wall.

  • @rabidtarg
    @rabidtarg 6 місяців тому +3

    I really do think that the best thing the Mantis helps with is that first shot. Practicing leading with your eyes and getting that first shot without having the spend about three days deciding where to aim. I'm a total noob shooter, and I need to start using my Mantis... four kids running around makes that difficult!

      It’s also very good for getting you comfortable with your firearm. We’ve seen it work the most for exactly what you mentioned, it’s a fast way to get use to transitions

    Serious comment: Hey guys, I've recently started my real firearms journey about a year ago. Before that, I was into airguns and airsoft. A lot of the manual of arms translates perfectly over, along with target acquisition and transition skils. The only difference is recoil control, as even blowback airguns can only simulate so much of the recoil.
    Instead of Mantis, I just use my airguns to dry fire training at home, and it helps with many of the skills Mason mentioned here. The biggest thing that it helped me with is trigger control and the "flinch", especially with the 1911. I got significant improvements just from those sessions at home.
    Thabks for sharing this with us!

    • @DeskPop
      @DeskPop  6 місяців тому +1

      The flinch is no joke! Sometimes your eyes just close from shooting; it’s super important to distinguish that blink from a flinch. Glad you found a way to practice not pulling!!

    IMO dry fire is over rated with reference to rifle/carbine shooting. Fundamentals, intent and purpose in your live fire and not “just having fun” will go a long way. Dry fire and drawing with pistol I do agree helps a lot.
    Gun games with friends also help. Like where well aimed fire is the point… a lot of my friends and I will line up, and each shoot at a target, if you miss you get 1 redo, otherwise your out, everyone whose not out then backs up from the target further and repeat etc. this is fun in a friendly competitive way that puts stress on you also and you all improve. Do this often and before you know it you’ll be making pistol shots WAAAAAY further back consistently and reliably than you think. (Like 100 yard pistol will become, not that difficult pretty quick)
