The Vesa Toskala joke took me out 😂 well played sir
The Flames have good pieces but ultimately I feel losing half of the 2022 Flames killed them
The flames have become a foster home.
Oilers put them in a rebuild lol
half? nonono, the lost all but 4, and 2 are goalies rolf. the team turned to DUST

Agreed 👍
I was a fan of Marky when he was on the Canucks. If he comes to the Devils, I'm getting his jersey. Even if he doesn't do well. I like Markstrom. I hope he gets a cup no matter where he goes.
Markstrom is really regretting not signing in Edmonton when he had the chance
The Toskala comment is evil and Im here for it
I had a good chuckle from that one
I laughed, then cried a bit, then laughed some more. Leaf fan PTSD, IYKYK.
Leafs haven't had a goalie in his prime since Potvin
@@iamNotHereB Cujo? or was he before Potvin?
@shawnwharry952 cujo was after but after his prime.
Markstrom has 2-3 good years left in him. They’re a borderline playoff team right now. Tough to call which way they should go.
they absolutely trade him for high picks or high + prospect. build your team from the ground up and the flames will be in a good spot in 2-3 years
they are not a borderline playoff team with half the pieces sold off. markstrom is the only one left.
@ScottStenlund-ys8iq Huberdeau is hot garbage. Please don't group him in with Kadri.
@ScottStenlund-ys8iq 35 but still plays at a very high level on a bad team. Put him on the devils or Avs? He will thrive. Anyone trading for him will absolutely get 2-3 good years out of him. I'd throw a high pick or 2 at him for a win now team like either of those 2.
We all remember toskaloss it wasn’t that long ago
I have friends who are Leafs fans who would be very excited at the prospect of having Markstrom playing for them. And, they have some high value assets to offer in return since the “core four need to be broken up” anyways (their words, not mine). Could be some very interesting discussion between those GMs going on right now in preparation for the July 1st open market frenzy.
The redwings should make a husso package for him,...
Man as an Oilers fan, I really wish Markstrom had signed in Edmonton. A Markstrom-Skinner combo would make me feel a lot more comfortable.
Flames interested in Campbell?
Zero percent chance the flames destroyed their team to get rid of all that talent to teams that are stronger against Edmonton. It didn't work out, but that was the attempt.
@@MrGamman3yt good call
As an aves fan ive been wanting them to pick up markstrom so baf
Vesa Toskala gave me a Chuckle, nice one
As a flames fan I feel like Markstrom will be traded probably to the devils due to the fact that Calgary has Dustin wolf coming up with a ton of potential as well as the fact that they are practically in a rebuild. I love Marstrom as our goalie but I feel like it would be for the best if he was traded elsewhere
As a goalie and FLames fan, wolf is under 6' and way light. My kid looks the same size. I really want him to do well, but chips are very stacked against him. Backup at best. Zero chance of Soros popping out here. Small is speed on ice, not in net.
The Oilers ended this man's whole career
i think he has like ptsd against mcdavid cuz he never started when they faced the oilers
Red wings need to add a goalie this offseason. It would require the wings moving on with Berggren probably if they went with Markstrom.
Which of the 3 goalies do we keep? Lyon stole our hearts but husso was just as solid until he was injured
@@scummydummyimo the Red Wings should keep Lyon & send Husso to Calgary if the Flames are open to that scenario.
While that would be nice i dont think its necessary. For me there are a few things that they should do:
- Trade Reimer
- Trade Husso
- Lyon as starter
- Bring Cossa up for a backup position early in the season
- Make room for Berggren
- Resign Raymond and Seider (Kane if they can)
- Bring up Edvinsson
- Trade Petry and Holl
- Trade for defenseman over the off-season
- Make an absolute steal of a draft pick that no one will see coming
@@leviklynstra8975 100% on this one man. we dont need more goalies. Need to focus on Cossa and Augustine. Need to bolster D. Man i hope Kane stays
yzerman built team with an elite goaltender would just be unreal
This Yzerman built team is very unimpressive. Full of mediocrity and some good talent.

Ottawa better be in the conversation too. Fourpisalo cant see the net for another season
I can't imagine Markstrom is a droid that very many are looking for.
I wouldn’t be shocked at all if Treliving or however u spell it linked up w his old buddy in Toronto
Near 35 year old goalie, who honestly, I've never found to be all that impressive. That's not an insult, he's good, I just don't think he's some superstar goalie like his reputation portrays.
Whoever takes a risk on this guy, is not going to be happy. 35 years old is pretty much full speed on the decline, aside from a few outliers.
He seems like a cool cat, so, best of luck to the guy, but ya, his days of being a difference maker, are over.
there is no more Goalie Superstar, there is a bunch of 7-8 that maybe does it a little better than the others but all in all they are all on the same level,no Hasek or Brodeur or Roy to stand above the other.Goalie position today is almost irrelevant and comparing them is like compairing the 50th forward in the league and the 82nd forward in the league.
I totally agree with it. He's a great goalie, makes some crazy big saves, but he's way to inconsistent to have the reputation that he has. Don't get me wrong, he is a wicked goalie, just too inconsistent
Markstrom to Detroit would be insane for Detroit. Keep Husso or Lyon as a backup and let Cossa dominate for a full season in the AHL. Improve the D in front of him and they might end up having a divisional playoff spot instead of just a wild card
The Flames are a tire fire. It's hard to watch this collapse since the Gaudreau/Tkachuk departures. Now with the loss of Hanafin, Lindholm and Zadorov; if MarkyMark is also gone, they might as well go into full rebuild mode and tank to get a bunch of high draft picks. I'm sure it won't be hard to get players to waive their no-trade clauses, but they might have to buy out Huberdeau.
He’s is definitely getting traded to the devils but Calgary is going to have to retain salary or send an additional player back for the number 10 pick. Something like mangiappane and markstrom for the number 10, Holtz, and bahl. We’ll see
Toskala catching strays man lol
Will Vladar fully recover from off season hip surgery?? That's another concern
I would air on the balance of probability suggesting 51% chance a trade happens 49% it doesn't. Truly either is possible... But I reckon the current state of the franchise, and knowing how competitive Markstrom is; will lean towards him wanting out which will be the small percentile that pushes the likelihood of a trade over the edge. I think if Conroy had a candid conversation with Markstrom he would tell him, respectfully, he wants out.
Only way I could see this all being nullified is if the almighty genius of Murray Edwards steps in and (allegedly once again) nullifies any sort of deal. Personally hoping we can make a deal that lands us the Devils #10 pick.
I am so split on where to go. I look forward to Wolf but I don't know if he will fill Markstroms shoes at any point in his career. However like you said, Markstroms value is at an all time high and its now or never with his age I think.
And the flames are now rebuilding. They don't need an elite goalie.
Considering that they're in the mushy middle of the West, I think they should trade him for a Kings Ransom - the goalie market is hot right now(Gibson, Markstrom, Ulmark) with lots of GMs on the hot seat to fix issues between the pipes. Depending on what they get, it could be a win for both teams...
And a 4yr rebuild, to get landon dupont.
As a devils fan I would love to see Ullmark in a Jersey jersey. I think there is no better realistic option at this time and for the coming 2-3 years. Markstrom's surely better than any other goalie they had in the last few years but he's not getting younger and is less constant than Ullmark.
"i think markstrom will be in another jersey next season." then he says 'Markstrom more than likey will be in a calgary jersey next season" make ur mind up
Would love to see him in Detroit next season
Even though I’m a devils fan and I’m biased I see that 10th overall pick being way too enticing for Calgary to pass up. This is a deep draft especially in the top 10 and Calgary has the 9th pick and having the 10th is too good to pass up
What do you mean "like Buffalo?"
They had a prime Linus Ullmark.
As an Avs fan we need a tendy this offseason if we want to go for another cup run it is either we get Ullmark or Markstrom
Their are rumors of Georgiev and Sammy G being traded in order to get ullmark, but I don’t really see that happening, we don’t really need goaltending, the Avs need more depth in their forwards (I am talking about Val and Landy) we don’t know if Landy might come back because of the cartilage in his leg still building up and Val’s condition to be place on stage three of the NHLPA, I feel like trading Georgiev will weaken the Avs chances for a another Stanley Cup, I don’t really know what they will do this offseason though so I’m hoping the Avs can do the right thing.
@@alecfisher2406 Well let’s hope Chris McFarland cooks up some good deals this offseason #avsfaithful

Wants to win a cup? Should have signed with Edmonton
Flash in the pan season isn't close to real sample size as a contender though.
if the oil signed markstom the butterfly effect could cause them to not be able to sign Hyman.
Rangers
You say he will wear a different jersey
But will he wear a New Jersey too?
Flames need another first rounder. You’re awesome
Wings grabbing marksman doesn’t make all that much sense. You said he wants a cup, the wings in their current state would have a long shot at winning a cup. It’s obviously possible in any situation, but very low chance.
Also, the wings have several elite level goaltenders cooking in the system. I don’t think yzerman pulls the trigger on this one.
Smart to move him. Flames are going absolutely nowhere for a long time
Every time I see a player or goalie slamming their stick around in frustration, I always think "Wow...man child much?". It's like saying, "I'm the only one who cares. I'm the best player on this team and nobody is keeping up. I'm so good that I should be above making mistakes.". It always has been and always will be such a tw@t thing to do. Do these players seriously think their peers aren't feeling the same frustrations? Break your stick in the dressing room in front of your peers...not in front of the world.
Detroit would be a great fit.
thats who u think is the best goalie in nhl history ?? that's mad disrespect to so many better goalies
Hear me out. Jack Campbell and a 3rd for Markstrom
I think LA is dumb enough to go grab this guy right now…
they’re really trying to push Nazem as the face of the franchise. They were handing out signed posters of him and the exit of the dome during reg season
He’s not coming to Colorado. Georgie is our guy in the net for sure, and the playoffs kind of solidified that in my mind. I don’t think Markstrom would want to backup for a goalie who’s not as good.
As a flames fan, Markstom should’ve been gone a long time ago, he’s no Kipper
The flames should have traded him at the deadline. They would have got a good first round draft pick from Jersey.
I feel like Markstrom is second fiddle to Ullmark. Any team interested in Markstrom is going to go to Boston first. Ullmark is younger, lower cap hit for this year, and just a better goalie. The only wrench in it is the 16 team no trade, but I don't think it would be very hard to get Ullmark to waive it.
Saying LA could be interested is legit.
Markstrom for Marner and some picks. Chief says Yes!
Utah or Vegas for the MStrom
Flames are a joke of an organization..trade away all your best players and then call it a 'retooling phase' ...thats not a retooling phase thats just a joke..nobody wants to play there cause there managment is crap
10th overall for Markstrom is way too steep a price.
Is that sarcasm? Van got 6th overall for Corey schinder
He’s 34 unless he’s basically free it’s an easy pass
Elite goaltender? Homegrown late rounder.
Are the Flames going to trade Markstrom to the Canucks just to spite Brad Treliving like they did with Zadorov?
Why would the Canucks want them? They have three strong goalies.
@@MrGamman3yt Aside from the fact that they had serious goalie injury issues during the end of the season and the playoffs, I was kidding.
Trading a 10th overall pick for Markstrom is comedic
it would be 50% retained and prolly the 28th oa pick headed to NJ and even then doubt NJ does it...
But it wastge owners who nixed it wasnt it
I was disappointed when he chose the Flames over the Oilers, but I bet he regrets it now.
why would colorado look for a goalie? Georgiev was good
u know the flames exist? unreal
Trade him to Carolina they’re in need of a solid goalie since David ayres
If the Flames limp into a rebuild again, it'll be a long time suffering. Deal this guy. Waive Huby.
I think they should rebuild now while what few assets they have left have value. This team is historically famous for not doing full tear-down rebuilds and it’s caught up to them now. They are like what San Jose was: in a weird pergatory type of limbo before they completely fall off the rails.
I want some Battle Of Alberta’s again in the playoffs. It’s not going to happen the way the Flames are fumbling through time.
He’s a Devil this month
Has to move.
Reaching for content huh
I'd love to see Dallas acquire Markstrom for a playoff run next season. Oettinger is not and never will be enough, and they refuse to use Scott Wedgewood for some reason.
Wouldn’t have made a difference.
@@oilersridersbluejays I wonder how you came to that totally unbiased conclusion
Not "trade rumors".
NJ GM Tom Fitzgerald BLEW the midseason Markstrom trade at the 11th hour.
It was Calgary ownership who nixed the deal at the 11th hour after Markstrom had agreed to waive his NMC, not Fitzgerald.
Oilers
Markström to Avalanche makes sense after the goaltending issues they have had during the playoffs. If they had Markström in net they would probably be in the finals right now. I don't know if they have the cap space though.
they would be in finals if the defense didnt play like pee-wees most of the season you know to build confidnece and stability...and dont get me start on CoCo chushkin who failed his teammates for the last 700 days and probably more, idiotic hit to Makars head last few game of season, idiotic hit charge on Rantanens head, another hit to Toews head + the turnovers squad Manson-Girard-Walker... Georgiev is clearly not the main problem to solve down there obviously.

Judging by their recent trades, the number one question on the Flames mind is "who will Edmonton face in the playoffs next year?" It probably puts the Kings at the top of the list.
Vesa Toskala. You absolutely savage beast, lmao.
Who’s old enough to remember that 200ft end to end goal scored on him vs. NYI? So, so, sooo many beach ball in net memes. Good times.

@ScottStenlund-ys8iq Damn, I’m drawing a total blank on the more recent one. I’m sure it’s on here somewhere. Will look.
The Toskala one is even funnier when you consider it was the only goal he let in and Toronto won the game. Both teams were in their middle of basement dweller eras (February 2008); for perspective: the islanders didn’t draft Tavares for another 1.5 years.

Ya, but he almost knocked the oilers out of the playoffs. You can't tell me that those trades weren't on purpose to hurt the oilers. There wasn't one Eastern team that wanted any of those guys. Come on.

Thank you for non playoff content. That's all I'm going to say :D
Markstrum goes to Toronto
If he wants term, he's not going to get it from Yzerman!
I think Markstrum is going to go on Injured Reserve (not the team, the list) in order for the Flames to free up the salary cap, but also let him train the younger goalies. If the Flames can put it together in the next 2-5 years (bc, let's be real, Markstrom doesn't have a whole bunch of years left in him), they'll pull him back into the ice for another Cup run, and see if they can get him that Cup he's been chasing.
But if he turns into another Carey Price, I think everyone in Calgary will be (justifiably) wanting to burn the NHL HQ office to the ground.
AuGG is inevetible
Marner waives his no trade clause; (assuming the Flames realize that Huberdeau isn’t working out) a deal that includes Marner and some draft capital if the Leafs can swing it. Tre knows Calgary well and knows what they need
Markstrom for Campbell
Hes open to coming back to calgary hes already in calgary
MARKSTROM TO MTL BECAUSE WE HAVE TO MANY DEFENDERS
New Jersey would be cool but I can see him going to the Red Wings.
Trade him while you can get great value for him. I personally don't think Markstrom is the answer. Great regular season goalie.
so naturally, he's going to the Leafs, right?
I'm noticing a lot of the older goalies as they age their reflexes slow down and their stats go down.
after the oilers shattered his confidence in the 2022 playoffs i imagine markstrom would rather not stay in the pacific division
I didn’t get why markstrom didn’t want to go to a new team last year. Head scratcher.
His wife had a baby that also is part of the reason why his performance went down a bit. Look at Cam Talbot the year he had twins.
Markstrom on the Avs would be terrifying.
they have Georgiev who is a god to fans when he wins game but is the scapegoat when defense plays like freaking pee-wees.... the Avs need stability not to play yoyo with a great goaltender.
If Jacob leaves Calgary, that's it for the Flames. They're not gonna have any kind of playoff hopes whatsoever.
🤬🤬🤬🤬
No offence, but I don’t think they really have playoff hopes as it is. This team is going nowhere fast. They need a rebuild.
