Deathwing knights: no ranged weapon, we need them into combat asap, can't afford to fail charge rolls, put a captain in there. Deathwing terminator squad: doesn't need the reroll charge rolls, put a damage multiplier leader in there. Inner circle companion: I worry about losing expensive models with 3+ save, add protection leader, or apothecary or make it a Azrael bunker.
Like a captain in Gravis armor, or does it matter? Still a bit new to tabletop 40k, and decided to go w. Dark Angels after diving into the Lion's recent bits of lore, and from the heresy.
@@poh1126 Check what leaders can go in what units. In terminator units, the generic leaders usually are called "X in terminator armour" Neither of the 3 units I mentioned can have leaders in gravis armour.
great video. loving the easy to follow ideas on who to attach and what they do. currently painting my first inner circle companion tester, and this video also made me realise I can actually use the freebie knight and make him into an ancient with the banner from the command squad box! score!
My favorite units are the Deathwing Knights and the Inner Circle Companions. I love the Dark Angels theme for their flavored units. The hoods and robes, the very loose attachement to Arthurian Legend(God save King Arthur), they were my favorite in Flavor behind the Templars. And those terminator updates just sealed the deal for me.
I honestly love a brick of 10 Deathwing Terminators with a captain. Drop them in turn 1 with 3 inch deepstrike. Shoot some units. Then when the opponent retaliates, you pay 1 CP for AoC and then the free Strat for -1 to wound. They then become insanely Tanky. Then the opponent's waste a huge amount of firepower and achieve barely anything. You push them back and dominate the board. Done this multiple times and it's great
Bro this is just what I've been looking for. I'm coming from Necrons and Guard and don't know anything about Space Marines but I'm starting a DA army, so just needed to know what the "go-to" units are and what synergises well. Thank you!
@6PlusPlusGaming Great video overall shame a lot of the dark angels characters have some terrible rules Balial and Lazaus are just so much poorer than the generic counterparts
@@6PlusPlusGaming least I could do. I’ve been collecting and painting for about a year now. Recently decided to learn the game. This video really clarifies some of the things I seem to struggle wrapping my brain around. I’ve watched it 3 or 4 times now and I get something from it every time. Thanks again!
Finishing my first 6 IC companions. Sat them next to Asmodai with all the smoke and swords…. Right, six more, yes six more then. Guess that’s that. 12 should fit my list, sure… makes total sense in some world
Truthfully wish I knew what to do with DW Terminators. Since we lost the command squad and the hammer/shield option. Seems you either add more Knights or go with Assault Terminators. I liked your suggestion with Belial but still seems like points better spent elsewhere
Don't sleep on Ezekiel. With 10 Assault Intercessors, roughly 50 chainsword attacks. Plus, his Mind Wipe ability has precision on the focused version. I used it to snipe a Necron character (cant recall which) out of my brothers Lychguard block. He also gives the deathwing keyword to them. 50 chainsword attacks against your oath target on vowed objective, +1 to wound, reroll wounds.
Depends if you are in Gladius or Inner Circle task force. Useful in both if not wanting to spend CP on Honour the chapter in Gladius or not fighting on an objective in Inner Circle. Very much of value! -Scrivo
Do you think I’d get any lip if I convert a terminator for my apothecary model? Would that be GW legal? I hate for my deathwing command squad bits to go to waste!
All the other battleshock abilities seem to be -1 to that’s where my confusion is! They are in a lovely place! Can’t wait to cover more on them 😇 -scrivo
How about Belial with assualt terminators, with oath, can fish for 6s, then precision thunder hammer attacks with devastating wounds? Feel like it could be a handy way to get characters smacked down
I'm actually beginning to think Belial might be useful as a lone character to cause pressure on your opponent's backfield. He has some really choice abilities to take out chaff.
Dont know when the changes all went in to effect since this video was made 4 months ago but lion el johnson is 285 points not 300. Azrael went up to 1150
I go with the lieutenant which gives them lethal hits. Makes it a little easier to get some wounds into vehicles and high toughness stuff if you need to have them do some armour damage too. Azrael with intercessors for territory control.
In my local league he's been great with 6x Inner circle Companions, they smash but die if caught in the open (they lived in an Impulsor until they went out to party). Sure the Librarian or Azrael is better for them, but giving them full rerolls to hit is nice! -Scrivo
Love Azrael with 10 Sterngaurds in inner circle, and if the other player has threatening melee, just park the Lion next to them ready to heroic intervene.
Also I like taking 5 Knights and a 10 man terminators, have a captain and a librarian and be flexible with who goes where. If there's a lot of psychic on the board, he can join the Knights to ensure their tankiness, if there isn't, he can go with the 10 man to give them sustained. Captain goes in the one the librarian isn't in.
Lion not being deathwing and him, and the "deathwing" vehicles; dreadnoughts, land raiders, and impulsors not having any benefits in inner circle is a tad annoying.
Good shout, another tick in the box for Gladius. When I get to a guide on Inner Circle it’ll be useful to note! It being limited to Deathwing Infantry is a little frustrating 🥹 -Scrivo
Watching this while painting my DKT so has to be them as my fav model

I’ve been having success with Belial accompanying a Terminator Ancient with Deathwing Assualt leading a unit of Deathwing Terminators
Excellent choice of background music

Really cool, cheers

Belial doesn't have sweep profile or a -1 battle shock in fight phase he can reflect blows for mortal wounds
Oh god, a copy paste error. Proves that I don’t really know him. Good spot!

Gladius, I’ve toyed With Inner Circle but I struggled to get into combat if my opponent was good with threat ranges.
wait how can he move thru walls ???
They added in the last balance dataslate that imperium primarchs can walk through ruins like Infantry :) -Scrivo

Why can lion el go through walls? Monster no walls but what?
They put an errata in the last balance dataslate, imperium primarchs and bellissarius cawl can move through ruins like infantry and beasts now.
Enjoy your ravenwing command squad while your can the will get the same treatment that the deathwing command squad got come 11th

I’ve had mixed results with Sternguard with Az, but those games weren’t the right matchups to test I think!

Yeah true, maybe I´m wrong, but I heard they took it from him
From index to codex they took away -1 to wound. Still has deep strike and fights first in the abilities section.
