It's what we call, "a solution looking for a problem"... Back in my younger days, THE wire stripper to have for your bench was a thermal wire stripper... They were rather expensive which is why not many people had them... I've made my own portable one using an 18650 battery and a piece of nichrome wire of an appropriate length... Another method is taking a length of braided fishing line (about 80-lb rating), make a loop over the wire where you want to remove the insulation, and then move the wire back and forth... It either abrades the insulation or generates enough friction to soften the insulation... It doesn't work as well on the higher temperature (teflon?) wires though... It's pretty good for removing the outer plastic insulation on coax and not damaging the braided shield... I've visited Australia once so far... Our ship hit port in Perth and like most of the other sailors, I don't think I made it past the first bar I encountered... That would have been over 4 decades ago... Damn, when I say it that way, it makes me feel old... The early '80s seem like *yesterday*, not over 40 years ago... :(
Knipex Flat Cable stripper works well for LSF otherwise i score the outer sheath and bend until it breaks clean through before pulling it off, depends on the cable though.
Im legit glad that you made this video weve all seen the vids with the solder cup and the twist and strip and dip and everything seems so perfect youve shown me more than enough to never want these anywhere near my wires or fingees
Too expensive. Not enough sizes, you have to clean it, it requires learning the proper finesse with a drill for each cable. I also have to carry and swap that attachment out. Not for me.
I agree, Anyone heard the term "keep it simple stupid" ? Striping wires is not rocket science, it's a neat expensive toy but not practical when you have a lot of work to do.
I use similar tool on larger cable like 250kcmil and larger . Makes life a lot easier, cleaner and more consistent finish, especially if your going to crimp on lugs or splicing the bigger stuff
I have never used lsf but it looks really similar to UF wire which is direct burial wire for for USA and I just run a knife down the middle and rip it apart
That's really expensive for just the dies. DeWalt makes 20V MAX XR cable stripper that includes the drill motor as does Milwaukee. These are great for heavy gauge wire.
For 200 USD you can buy one of these top notch cable strippers instead: - Ideal Ergo Elite - Facom 985762 - Weidmüller Multi Stripax - Knipex 12 12 06 (or Rennsteig) - Jokari Quadro Plus
That LSF cable is direct burial underground cable, we call UF cable in the states - it is a BITCH to strip bc it’s not a hollow outer sheath, so you have to run your blade between two of the wires and then use the ground as a pull cord to rip as far back on the insulation as you need.
LSF is low smoke & fume we don't use it underground only internals alot of Ireland and the UK are moving to LSOH which is low smoke zero halogen. Just as much of a bitch to strip bit even less black smoke if it burns.
You can not burry lsf cable direct in the ground 🤣 I work with it almost every day in the UK it's also easy to strip with side cutters. Low smoke fumes it stands for so in the event of a fire it's not helping to burn the house down like your paper Romex
Glad that I didn't buy a set of these. I had a feeling that all of the the positive reviews on those strippers were mostly fake. Thanks for the review.
I feel like you could have all the cables stripped by the time you set up the drill and clean it out etc. it does seem useful but I couldn’t see most people using them
Yeah, deal with that on a ladder or cramped space or just on a workbench looks like a major PITA. Knipix plier, cutter, stripper, done. I can make the wheeez sound with my mouth.
Don’t run a stanly down it more likely to cut the cores use a pair of crop snip the middle of the shelving and pull earth back , typically lsf dosent have eart shearing on it
Yeah... that lsf... or whatever it's called here in the states... is awful to work with. I'm no sparky by trade, but did wire up a barn with the stuff recently, waaay tougher to work with than romex. Also, I'm not sure on the $ conversion, but I just got 1 of those strippers here for $15 US. For that price, I think they're worth it for a guy like myself who doesn't need it all day everyday. I also got the wire twister that both twists the wires together and also puts on caps. Kinda nice, easy on the fingers. Just my 2c.
Bro, you've got to remove the stripper from the connector before cleaning it. Next, you need to learn how to use it well. It works flawlessly USA and Europe. Are you a good electrician?
Hey mate. There’s no instructions and I use it the way it’s shown on their videos. If you could send through a video of how you do it I would be grateful. Sales@addictedtotools.com Cheers
😂 doesn’t look like it’ll save any time - especially with the mess it makes! Oh hang on…sparkies don’t clean up anyway. So maybe it won’t take longer, but won’t save time either by the looks!
Hey mate. This is how they shown to be use. They have a 1/4” shank made for an impact. A drill driver wouldn’t change outcome. Why would I use an “actual” drill?
So many people in here opposed to this. And the reason why is all the union boys that don’t want anything that would reduce time and bill the customer less
100%is from China , they use different stander of cable and they all single core . I’m really surprised with the price , it could be 20 AUD if you know the website names TAOBAO
Cable stripper or wire stripper? that is the question... The most useless tool set ever. Looks like those shity products that we can see it on comercial TV-shows. By the way, australians did not discover yet the automatic wire strippers? because, i saw on internet, americans also didn' t.
It's what we call, "a solution looking for a problem"...

Thanks for honest review 👍
Im legit glad that you made this video weve all seen the vids with the solder cup and the twist and strip and dip and everything seems so perfect youve shown me more than enough to never want these anywhere near my wires or fingees
Thank you for preventing me from making a fairly expensive mistake.
They are quite chip at Amazon in USA - around $20
I'm an apprentice spark from Ireland and I actually like using the LSF cable it feels really sturdy
It seems like there’s a bit of a learning curve and maybe the blades and the depth gauge need to be played around with. Just my thought
Too expensive. Not enough sizes, you have to clean it, it requires learning the proper finesse with a drill for each cable. I also have to carry and swap that attachment out. Not for me.
Good, glad u missing the boat
I agree,
Anyone heard the term "keep it simple stupid" ? Striping wires is not rocket science, it's a neat expensive toy but not practical when you have a lot of work to do.
Crocadile Dundee: That's not a knife. This is a knife 🗡
I use similar tool on larger cable like 250kcmil and larger . Makes life a lot easier, cleaner and more consistent finish, especially if your going to crimp on lugs or splicing the bigger stuff
What tool do you use, i'm currently working on 185mm copper.
@@m30704dewalt makes a good one that comes with multiple dies for stripping large cables. Also has a depth meter
Hell yea the hydraulic impact 10/10 tool it's slept on
The only place I can see these having a use, are the old wires where the insulation is melted on.
I have never used lsf but it looks really similar to UF wire which is direct burial wire for for USA and I just run a knife down the middle and rip it apart
That's really expensive for just the dies. DeWalt makes 20V MAX XR cable stripper that includes the drill motor as does Milwaukee. These are great for heavy gauge wire.
got the same set from temu, in the usa, for 4 bucks.

Amazing im going to try . How much do you think is a reasonable price for the kit ? And where should i purchase
I bought that tool on Temu , but it doesn't cut off the insulation off of 16 and 14 AWG wires.
That LSF cable is direct burial underground cable, we call UF cable in the states - it is a BITCH to strip bc it’s not a hollow outer sheath, so you have to run your blade between two of the wires and then use the ground as a pull cord to rip as far back on the insulation as you need.
Interesting. Thanks for the info mate. Other countries are using it for general installation. Always interesting to see how others do it 👍
LSF is low smoke & fume we don't use it underground only internals alot of Ireland and the UK are moving to LSOH which is low smoke zero halogen. Just as much of a bitch to strip bit even less black smoke if it burns.

Romex has an uninsulated ground and UF wire just insulates the ground for direct burial also cool to learn about lsf👍
Another solution for a problem that never existed lol
Glad that I didn't buy a set of these. I had a feeling that all of the the positive reviews on those strippers were mostly fake. Thanks for the review.
Wow! Yea,thats too expensive and it doesn't work that great Dome folks have money to burn unfortunately, thats not me. Great vid!!
If they had 16mm mains cables sized, might be worth if doing a heap of underground wiring. Until then, ill stick with my channel locks haha
Good point. I might get some 10mm and try that
@@AddictedtoTools how did it go with the 10mm?
It’s on Amazon for 46 bucks USD the entire set plus wire nut twister
I feel like you could have all the cables stripped by the time you set up the drill and clean it out etc. it does seem useful but I couldn’t see most people using them
I definitely agree.
And as you mentioned the price range is a lot for what it’s worth.
It’s about $40 in USA right now on Amazon not worth it 😅
Interested to see if the 6 or 10mm in an orange circ would strip better being a bit more rigid?
Klein done!
So glad I'm not buying a new house with all these dumb tools messing up stuff up for the homeowner to fix at a later date.
Dude it's hard enough to get Sparkies to grab a broom when it's a solid end section , without the cookie crumbs effect
😂 shrapnel everywhere now
I was going to write a smart arse comment about sparkies being messy pigs but you beat me too it👍
is it running in the correct direction???
Yes
holy smokes they super expensive, where I'm from they are around 30 USD in amazon.
i feel like with practice it would work great
No thank you. I dont think I'll ever give up my Knipex Forged wire strippers. They are too great.
what's the brand and model of your pliers?
I just buy one set today they cost me $49 im gonna try them
Hey, can you tell me what site you got them from, please
LSF looks like the Grey under ground cable
you also need that twister drill attachment to go full tiktok electrician! those things whole purpose is to look good on video and nothing else.
This... Looks like something i'd end up chucking acorss the room.
that tool should be illegal
When I do plug and switch, or splicing, I have no need to strip that long.
Try some 10 or 16 mm earth building wire
Please try the gedore insulated screwdrivers
I’ve wanted to jump on to them for ages. Hard to get in aus. I’ll definitely keep an eye out
i still wonder why you didnt just take of the stripping part and blow it out over just leaving it on the bit
Remove the blade? This would be extremely unpractical
Very expensive fishing sinkers.
Yeah, deal with that on a ladder or cramped space or just on a workbench looks like a major PITA.
Knipix plier, cutter, stripper, done. I can make the wheeez sound with my mouth.
Do those knipex have a wider head on it?l compared to the yellow and red handle? 13 86 200
They sure do. That’s one reason I wasn’t a fan of the others. The head is a lot closer to your normal linesman’s
Have to run a stanly knife down the lsf it adds and extra hour to doing a fuse board worst cable there is!!
I could imagine! I just saw that England has now started to use it also.
We've had LSF in England for ages now. We use it mainly for wiring in schools and blocks of flats. Talk of it becoming mandatory across the board 🙄
Don’t run a stanly down it more likely to cut the cores use a pair of crop snip the middle of the shelving and pull earth back , typically lsf dosent have eart shearing on it
@@kameronarmstrong1208 all cable in Ireland has earth sheathing long before lsf came in. if you lightly score it you won’t nic any of the inner cores

Meant for solid and 12 awg
Hey mate, that’s incorrect. You can go to the website or even talk with the owner as I did
Lol when I seen you try to strip the British cable I know it wasn't going to work
Bro, you've got to remove the stripper from the connector before cleaning it. Next, you need to learn how to use it well. It works flawlessly USA and Europe. Are you a good electrician?

Plier still dabest and faster
I've always used pliers and always will use pliers
This thing is starting with gauge 12, making the most common sizes 14 and 16 useless.
New to the channel
Hey Michael, cheers for dropping in
Has anyone the product code for the the new knipex shears?
Just saw that and went looking. 13 72 200
Where buy this tools in indonesian
Pass
Do you happen to have any UK cable? I have some short scrap pieces I could probably get over to you?
I'll trust my cable knife over that thing anyday and its blade is chewed the hell up
It works on enameled 6 mm wire ?
there are different sizes you know.
Yep. And this is made for this size cable. I showed the kit in the video….
Whens the f set video coming out
$16 on Amazon.
give it to the apprentice, watch him struggle
Yeah I wouldn't use those...
are those sunnies from back to the future 2? 😝
I’m from the future

Too much cost. Crazy.
Maybe try using an actual drill instead of an impact.

Wouldn’t it be because it’s rubbish and expensive?
just removed it from my amazon cart half way watching your clip ...
By the time you chuck that device in your drill, my wire will be stripped and my Klein tool will be back in my bag…..
Get your money back haha
Not worth it. I could have had the job done by the time you were done 6 wires lol
Nearly makes me want to down grade to a sparky. Nah

It takes longer to do the than the cutters.. how lazy can you get. I can see if your doing commercial with 100 wires but wow.
found this for the ISF cable around 4.35 ua-cam.com/video/qFWK57Yzefc/v-deo.html
Cheers mate. I just watched the whole thing. Interesting that they are now starting to use it there. Thanks for the link

@@AddictedtoTools bro jus messing wit u..the results are a L though

Wtf is this crap 😂 what a waste of money
The brick work behind you is atrocious. It doesn’t line up at that cold joint.
Yep. Thats what happens when people diy and don’t care. Thats over 20yrs old and all rendered over now.

nonsense 😂 Maybe for something wayy bigger.
