In Chicago the mayor is a Democrat. The police Superintendent is appointed by city leadership. The DA is a Democrat.. The AG is a Democrat. 46 of 50 Aldermen are Democrats. Four are Independents. The issue in Chicago is not racial, it is cultural. They are also the fault of the Democratic Party.
The most recent Republican mayor of Chicago served from 1927-1931.
Please, let's not forget the approximately 2470 black Americans who have been murdered, in Chicago, since George Floyd was killed.

I see it every day, I talk with property managers and building engineering all over Southern California for my own work and I see workers leaving in droves because of increased living costs and decreasing quality of life. These cities are failing and the only thing holding them up are taxes and government handouts

My first thought was: It could cost the same, but in the city in the other state some official reported, it's over 10k, and took 9k from it, and nobody checks it.
That's how a lot of corruption here in europe works. Viktor Orban made billions with that, taking EU money for infrastructure projects in hungary, and giving the projects and billions to a company that belongs to a close friend, and nobody cares, that Orban and his friend suddenly become billionaires in just a few years.
The same on a smaller scale, like with woke projects, with painting flags on streets, could happen in those cities. It can be done ez and it's hard to prove. I think, every person with a functioning brain knows, Orban is corrupt and criminal, but nobody can do anything about it, and he is a very public figure, a lot of people hate him, so stealing public money in american cities would be even easier, especially if you have woke projects, or you have some woke event, and the catering service or the drag queens get a bit more than they should. I wouldn't be surprised if people in charge take money from the public 🤷♂️
