I felt the same. Many people have reasons for how they interact outside of familial norms. I have a friend who has trauma surrounding treatment after her mother died which started with her first name and then being 'told off'. We have developed patterns that make her laugh but would shock normal people. When she has visited me and it's time for her to go I tell her to f off. She cracks up and goes home and I don't have to deal with someone taking 30-60 minutes to complete this process.

She couldve cut contact, but they would still harass her, especially with police visits. Also they did talk to a lawyer but it would be hard to do so in their position (to report). Its not straightforward, with such allegations, they would have to take serious precautions. And unfortunately, MANY side with victims, real or not. Their messages could be seen as proof even though it wasnt abuse, and it doesnt help that the law wouldnt be on their side. Sister could easily fight that in court and she wouldve won. As for workplace, thats a difficult decision. It would only attracy negative attention legally and what they needed most was to just disconnect from it entirely. Work wasnt at fault for taking precautionary measures, it was unfortunate that it was over a lie though. From the sounds of that first story, the husband's life was ruined because of something he didn't even want to be involved in initially. From some of the wording, OP basically pressured her husband into participating in her kinks. And with her understanding of the law where they lived, if she did pressure him into agreeing to it she did so knowing that legal ramifications were an ever-present possibly: probably not for her, but definitely for him because he was the dominant partner during play. First story: Sister needs to be drilled with questions like “Do you think there is a chance we are doing this for sexual gratification?” If she denies, then she’s wrong and you sue her for defamation. If she says yes, then you drill on the gap on her logic, ask her why she’s so convinced it’s abuse when she’s admitted there is a possibility this is for sexual gratification and not abuse. There are plenty of possibilities, she could have cut off contact with her family a long time ago, reported them for the lies they spread, even to her husband's workplace, and yet she sat by and watched until it was no longer bearable for her husband. Yeah, I really have no idea why he not only wants to distance himself from the situation but also from her.
She couldve cut contact, but they would still harass her, especially with police visits. Also they did talk to a lawyer but it would be hard to do so in their position (to report). Its not straightforward, with such allegations, they would have to take serious precautions. And unfortunately, MANY side with victims, real or not. Their messages could be seen as proof even though it wasnt abuse, and it doesnt help that the law wouldnt be on their side. Sister could easily fight that in court and she wouldve won. As for workplace, thats a difficult decision. It would only attracy negative attention legally and what they needed most was to just disconnect from it entirely. Work wasnt at fault for taking precautionary measures, it was unfortunate that it was over a lie though.
