Can't authors buy X number of pre-orders of their own book though a corporate shell to get on bestseller list and inflate numbers? I know it wouldn't be free because your still paying some cost in shipping or distribution. But you could re-sell them or buy them back for a dollar.

Should have the same effect, but I don't think audiobook sales affect all of the best seller lists. Sometimes they're split out
