One of the most detailed installation videos ever. I wish you showed us a little more about how you link your home alarm to the lock. Once again, thanks for the video.
Thank you so much for your demonstration. My little advice to everyone is DO NOT use the Duracell batteries, it's gonna leak (well known) and fuck up your device, use Energizer instead.
From what I saw so far you can arrange it to lock automatically after leaving the house. Also , when you arrive at the door it opens automatically. Thought you might want to add it to your presentation. Thank you for the video. Cheers ! Obviously subscribed.
FYI you used the wrong adapter for the bolt. Use the orange one if the bolt is vertical or horizontal. If the bolt is in between use the blue. If you take it off and put the orange one in your wyze latch will be level.
I tought this product was a bit more "invasive" as other smartlocks but im impressed by its simplicity, gotta congratulate wyze for their user friendly design
Good review. Very very similar to August. The biggest difference is that August uses a magnet to detect if the door is closed, open or ajar. Their website doesn't say how they detect it exactly. Do you find it accurate several months in after your review?
This will be one of my first purchases when I move out to my apartment. I have a two story apartment I’m moving into and I’m Definitely one of those type of people to not remember if I locked the door or not but am also the one to now want to get up and look. This will also come in handy if I’m upstairs and a friend comes over I don’t have to rush down stairs to let them In.
@@DoItYourselfDad While that is unfortunately true, you can still set it up to see when someone enters your home with a key. And photo the person entering.
Yea I’m having trouble with those two screws inside the battery case…the lock turns and everything but those dang screws don’t want to catch!. Alright, so after further looking, I am indeed missing the screw posts for the pre-threaded screws in the battery compartment
Thanks always love videos like these and always love the new technology things that they come out with? There is this light bulb that you can put out side and it has a 360 degrees camera and you can see and talk to the person at your door? Not sure of the name I want to say it's called blue fish?😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.
Awesome video, ive been waiting for this to come out as it offers some solid features for a great price, I hope it holds up. How does this integrate with Simplisafe?
You definitely could, the only issue would be the paint wearing down on the actual lever, but repainting that every year so wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
@@DoItYourselfDad But IFTTT doesn't have simplisafe integration. It appears that there is simplisafe/nest integration, and nest is supported on IFTTT. Did you use that or some other phantom integration?
what if someone leaves the door open.. you'll get a notification that the door is unlocked, but not that is open.. so, you would "lock" the door from abroad, but the door will still be wide open.
@@DoItYourselfDad I found their support number and gave them a call. The shorter screws were free for me, I just have to wait a few days for them to come in the mail. I hope they fit, I'd hate to have to return the lock. I bought a wyze smart bulb last week and so far I am enjoying it and I find the app pretty easy and intuitive to use.
This is almost a 100% clone of August right down to the magnetic faceplate. I just installed one recently and I think even the plastic inserts are the same. Differences: August adds Homekit "Siri, unlock the front door." And also has a magnetic sensor you drill into the door's frame that detects when the door is ajar or completely open.
@@Iain0101 august goes on sale very often for cheaper then the wyze lock. But as a user of august and wyze im looking heavily into getting the wyze locks
I honestly do not like the concept of smart locks. Too many things that can go wrong in my opinion. Besides that, I don't have any deadbolt locks on my doors as well. Good video though.
I totally get the concern. What I like about these over other smart locks is that it doesn’t change anything on the outside of the door, someone walking up would never know you have a smart lock on the other side. Everything can be hacked given enough time, but your standard key lock can get picked with a bump key in seconds. What’s that old saying.... locks only keep honest people out?
I watched the Wyze install video prior to yours and it seems you should have used the orange adapter, not the blue. Yours seems to work fine though, but I wonder why there is an orange and blue. ua-cam.com/video/gjjgjn01aFI/v-deo.html
The width of the shaft is slightly different, mine is narrower than the orange adapter, the blue would have worked but there would have been some play in it.

It's such a minimal lock and I love the Wyze ecosystem. I do wish it had HomeKit support though.
I’d love to integrate these with my Wink home hub. Hoping someday they’ll have some sort of a bridge.

Im not sure either what method they use, but we've had no issues and use it several times each day.

Agreed! I found these locks very very convenient.
Looking forward to this. I have a few of their cameras up, and I've been impressed with the quality of the hardware and software.
After leaving your home, can you set it up where even if someone has a physical key can't get in?
Unfortionaly no.

I don't have the space to install it as shown. My deadbolt is below the door handle. Is it possible to install it upside down?
I just looked on one of my Wyze discussion boards and it works upside down forums.wyzecam.com/t/wyze-lock-upside-down/74608

Hi! Any idea if the lock has a max amount of rotations?
Awesome video, ive been waiting for this to come out as it offers some solid features for a great price, I hope it holds up. How does this integrate with Simplisafe?
Would you recommend installing it on the dead bolt?
How did you get the lock to work with SimpliSafe? I just got the lock and have the same setup and didn’t know this was possible!
What if you forgot your phone in the house can you still unlock the lock or will you have to use the key?
They sell a keypad you can setup, or you can still use your key.
can't you just spray paint the bronze color that you want, using a little tape to prevent spraying into unwanted area?
You definitely could, the only issue would be the paint wearing down on the actual lever, but repainting that every year so wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
How did you connect this to simple safe to automate it like the way you demonstrated it? Time 07:44
I used IFTTT
@@DoItYourselfDad But IFTTT doesn't have simplisafe integration. It appears that there is simplisafe/nest integration, and nest is supported on IFTTT. Did you use that or some other phantom integration?
At one point they did, I dumped SimpliSafe over a year ago so I can’t speak for what would work now.
what if someone leaves the door open.. you'll get a notification that the door is unlocked, but not that is open.. so, you would "lock" the door from abroad, but the door will still be wide open.
Nope, the door will alert you if it’s open or closed, not just locked or unlocked.
In this case, he also has door sensors. So if my door is ajar, my contact sensors let me know that it's open.
How long are your bolts for your lock? Mine are too long and I need shorter ones. I have tried going on the Wyze site but its useless for me.
I didn't have an issue, but I've heard other people mention that Wyze had sent them out shorter screws.

can't you just saw them to size with a hacksaw or angle grinder?
im liking mine but i wish the auto unlock worked better
How did you make the lock function when arming the SimpliSafe system?
We did it through IFTTT
I haven’t been able to get IFTTT to interact with SimpliSafe at all any tips, pointers, videos?
Thanks
Is the base plate or adapter plate made is plastic or metal?
Metal, this thing is pretty well built for the cost. I just wish they had it in a rubbed bronze color to go with the rest of my hardware.
Does it work with Alexa yet?
Yes
For some reason it did not support my lock

How do we check the battery level?
You can check it in the settings feature of the app.
