Creek fishing has always been my favorite place to fish. I’m started to get old now and my legs and balance is starting to go away to where I can’t walk the creeks anymore. I had 60yrs of fun in the creeks now it’s about over. I’ll have to enjoy watching you do it now and bring back old memories. Thank You for another great video Gene. Keep em coming.

Richard here in north central Texas every damn stream and some rivers are bone dry. 68 days of 100 Degrees or better. I'm 62 and it's been a very long time since I have seen it like this. Even the Dairy Queen and Sonic signs have pray for rain on them. Grasshoppers would have to pack a dang lunch, 😂
Bringing back memories of my younger days ! I love catching spots that size in a southern Missouri creek . Every fall and winter spots, red ears and 2' crappies. ( I blew up night-crawlers with #2 hooks & split shot to keep above the leaves.)
@@razinoff I only got to try Big Piney, but it was a blast. We used canoes, and had so much fun we lost track of our pick-up location...thankfully some good folks gave us a ride back. Love southern Mo.

I've had zero luck on ned rigs. Also, areas I've used them there were fish. What I ended up doing was cut ned rig off tied a 7 inch leader with a size 1 or 4 baitholder hook. Then putting a split shot 1/4 above where I tied leader line. Then, I'd use a zero z too or a soft plastic grub worm or a live fat nightcrawler and then I'd catch a nice bass. Usually a smallie 3 plus lbs after I tie this rig on. If I use live nightcrawlers I'd catch different kinds of fish. Bass largemouth or smallies, chubs, catfish or sunfish occasionally a spotted bass. Spotted bass are unusual for up north where I live. Caught a peacock bass using a 1/16 white crappie jig with a white grub tail with trophy bass by procure.

I got addicted to wading this summer. It's by far the most enjoyable time I've had fishing. I always bank fished the river here but with how low the water levels were this summer the only practical way to fish a lot of it was by wading. I'm actually gonna be disappointed when the water levels come back up, but I learned a ton about the rivers features and fishing it in general.
Do you just wear sneakers? or do you go the waders route? I used to just wade with sneakers and shorts.... but getting a little long in the tooth! LOL! The access to creeks around here is a little rough as well, so I bring a machete and DEET! LOL! Nothing like wading a creek!
@@jessecahn82 I started with the shorts and cheap shoes. Recently upgraded to some decent pants and rubber soled wading boots. Guys weren't joking when they said wading a river can be like walking on bowling balls. I'm still pretty young and have to take it slow a lot of the time. I'm not one for cracking my skull. Had a pretty nasty fall walking a rip rap bank on a rainy morning a few weeks ago, thankfully I fell forward though. I also need to learn from you wiser gentlemen and actually bring the bug spray, I'm absolutely covered in bites right now.

I have a creek that's on Mt mamaws farm that holds alot of fish in it. Theys some deep holes on the creek and it has crappie, bass, channel catfish, red eyes, warmouth, mudcats, carp, bluegills, and believe or not it has white bass in it. I can go there every spring and catch so many fish and lay into a 5lber.
…..and I would like to say I love all your videos but the creek videos with vintage reels are and will always be my favorite. I went back and started watching the first videos you posted and they are awesome. My favorite video will always be the creek fishing with the real swim bait video.

I just have a question if you could, it looks like you let the fish hold it a few seconds and then set the hook. Is that correct?
Great stuff, sir! I also like the Zman TRD BugZ fished the same way. These little baits catch bream and small bass but also I caught top 5 bass almost 2 years ago now on it. Those little hooks hold up just fine if you have some patience and a medium action rod. Keep up the good stuff, sir!

I had a moment today when searching for my first reel and rod separate purchases as I've always just bought combos. I just got so excited that I stopped and was like "OMGGG I LOVE FISHING!!!!" and right then and there I channeled my inner Richard mechanism. I totally get why he's so excited all the time and throws stuff at the end of his video, splashing around in the water and just being a goof. I have a little buzz light year on my desk and purposefully knocked it over I was just so pumped. In any event, I'm considering the following reels and would like some advice on a nice rod (5'6) to accompany one of these: -Pflueger President 20. Seems like a lot of hype surrounding this one. -Kast King Centron 500. Seems like an incredible value ($20) and a fantastic performer and some were saying no reason to get the President when you can get this instead. -Daiwa Revros LT1000. Saw Richard use one of these in one of his ultralight videos. -Shimano Sedona 1000 -Okuma Helios -Okuma Ceymar I'm pretty much down to the president or Kast King. If someone can give m a good reason to spend the extra $40, I'm all ears. As for some info, I fish mainly in small creeks, ponds to decent-sized lakes here in NC (Falls Lake primarily). I like inline spinners like Panther Martin and Rooster Tail, (I fished for trout in college at WCU) and I mostly target sunfish, bass, and Crappie though I have a lot to learn there. Thanks for any replies!

The larger spool diameter on a 2000-2500 size reel helps a whole lot with line memory, too.

I just got so excited that I stopped and was like "OMGGG I LOVE FISHING!!!!" and right then and there I channeled my inner Richard mechanism. I totally get why he's so excited all the time and throws stuff at the end of his video, splashing around in the water and just being a goof. I have a little buzz light year on my desk and purposefully knocked it over I was just so pumped.
In any event, I'm considering the following reels and would like some advice on a nice rod (5'6) to accompany one of these:
-Pflueger President 20. Seems like a lot of hype surrounding this one.
-Kast King Centron 500. Seems like an incredible value ($20) and a fantastic performer and some were saying no reason to get the President when you can get this instead.
-Daiwa Revros LT1000. Saw Richard use one of these in one of his ultralight videos.
-Shimano Sedona 1000
-Okuma Helios
-Okuma Ceymar
I'm pretty much down to the president or Kast King. If someone can give m a good reason to spend the extra $40, I'm all ears.
As for some info, I fish mainly in small creeks, ponds to decent-sized lakes here in NC (Falls Lake primarily). I like inline spinners like Panther Martin and Rooster Tail, (I fished for trout in college at WCU) and I mostly target sunfish, bass, and Crappie though I have a lot to learn there.
