- I'm playing Banished and building The Perfect Town! I hope... Part 1 is all about the planning. I hope you enjoy the series and maybe pick up some tips for your own towns but if you're absolutely new to the game and looking for tutorials or strategy guides, as promised, here's a few to get your started:

Wow, you're like the Bob Ross of Banished. You're so relaxing to listen to.
relaxing? yeah if you're a psycho. This shit is vomiting

Watching this after I failed badly on a small map with medium conditions is an amazing learning experience. Thank you for this series!
AbbathGS You're welcome and I'm happy to hear it; your comment made my day. :)
Hello. You should place the market first and place two lumberjack, beer, tailor and tool shops right next to it. Then, there should be only houses and wells in the area covered by the market. The yellow circled area covered by the market should be on land only to place houses and should be away from water
Thanks for the tips!
Love this game. Love it when it's played by someone who knows what is what. Thank you.
Wow, just WOW. I have played Banished for about 20 hours and I have watched your suggested UA-camrs as well as other videos before I found your channel. I have to say, I learned SO MUCH just watching your first episode. The clarity of your design and sharing your thought process was extremely helplful.Thank you very much. My villages will stop imploding and I am eager to try Hard mode now instead of extremely doubtful. I very much look forward to watching the next.
Your voice is so easy to listen to was unsure whether to buy this game or not but you sold it to me, thanks!
Lol I have to say, I love her voice.
I'm probably rewatching this for the fifth time now. I love that you know what you're doing and can explain why you do it.
Just started to play this awesome game. Your way of starting makes so much more sense to me than many of the other videos. Thank you for sharing what you've learned. I shall now go and watch the rest of your series.
Wow, I love the amount of planning and detail you put into this. Very cool video, thank you. Subscribed :)
Started with plans to finish. That alone has sold me on you as a let's player. Hopefully you deliver; haven't got to the end of the playlist yet.
Lol, semi-critical already. Calm down dude, I don't think anyone really cares about your opinion.

Take your own medicine 😂
Excellent "Let's Play" for Banished you did. Wish you would have continued it or started up a new one.
I always recommend your videos to new players. I'm sorry yer not around anymore and hope things are well for you and yours.
Well that's genius. Not seen a lot of these tips anywhere else. Thanks! Also hello from 2020. Your people are not socially distancing.
I do enjoy listening to your voice (Bob Ross of Banished is so accurate). You are explaining your decisions and that helps me avoid frustrating mistakes. I did wonder why you removed the buildings instead of pausing their construction.
Not sure why but this is my third time watching this series haha love it
I really enjoyed this series - the attention to detail, the explanation, and the planning - thanks very much! :)
I’m on my eighth town now and still haven’t achieved any Steam achievements lol. But i LOVE the challenge and here I am, after 8 tries, finally youtubing tips and strategies.
This is my comfort series ☀
Just got the game two days ago - already 20~ hours into it! It's a crazy-steep learning curve, so thanks a ton for this. \o/
Love this game and love the way you play it. I would love to see more of both.
Hi, believe me or not - I was doing exactly the same things when I was playing Banished last year (it was before modding support came out) - which means: school first (to increase work efficiency), extremely deep plans at very begin of the game (during pause), and yes - I also experienced that "unbuilt" roads bug after save/load my game (it is a bug in my opinion) - I was frustrated then haha. The game is beautiful (despite its simplicity - actually this is what make it so beautiful) and it's nice to see that someone is going similar way - I mean aesthetics (straight roads) and again - deep plans. I will watch a couple of your episodes just to remind my adventure with Banished, however I don't think I will play it again, that episode of my life is rather finished haha. I wait now for a game RimWorld to come out (because I'm not a fan of pre-release versions), I think you might like it as well, though is totally different kind of simulation.
Cheers!
You do know having more than one hunter per lodge is a waste. Each hunting lodge can only harvest 1 deer, not each hunter in the lodge harvest a deer. The three hunters you have could be placed in 3 lodges and you get 3x the food and leather.
Having more than two is a waste*
love the video, i cant wait to utilize what you teach. I played 1 map start to end had about 3k population. But i had a lot of setbacks and to be honest without mods to help me i would of died off long ago lol. But was my first game, i had no idea how anything worked i just powered through for better or worse learning all the buildings etc. 2nd time i wont to do it right and your video just simple to understand and follow. Thankyou
Great video. I have to get this game. I really appreciate how thorough and well-spoken you are when explaining the how and why of your style of gameplay.
Nice methodical approach ... thumbs up!
I love city building games (ie: Cities: Skylines, Anno 1404, Tropico, etc), might give this one a try.
Thanks Mr. Spock. I haven't played it in years but I had a lot of fun with it and thought it was well worth the price. If you pick it up I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. :)
Ahh, so nice to hear a female voice for a change...
Alexander Wicked
No kidding
@No Comment i love this ahah
You have a very soft soothing voice. Very relaxing. You should be a psychiatrist, on talk radio or do audiobooks. Not trying to be creepy, just being honest... Nicely done on the video!
It's sort of like ASMR!
I had a hard time at first with the game, but you are helping me out really much! It is so easy to listen to you and i am thankful for this series :)
I'm sad today. My 190 adult town was fucked to shit by a tornado.
I want to see what you would do with the colonial charter mod or what it's name is... I think your town would look amazing then...
Hey Nile. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep it in mind. :)
still watching this vid legit thebest youtuber iknow
great video, really cool to see your build style
How do you cycle through the house options? What button?
Very easy to hear the voice in this vid! Ty!
i can do it but never feels perfect towards late game.. good tutorial hun! x
I love this game.
Thanks for the great video. Do you play Tropico? I find the small map and curved roads present an interesting challenge. I would be really interested to see your take on it.
Hi Zoomb. I haven't played Tropico in years, thanks for the suggestion.
I've been trying to watch other Banished let's plays but it's so frustrating because no one knows the game like Honeywell 😭😑 Would love to see more, maybe colonial charter?
If I ever pick Banished back up I'd consider the colonial charter mod but the chances of that happening anytime soon are slim. It's a great game and I loved it but nothings niggling at me making me want to play it again.
more banished plz maybe even Colonial Charter & MegaMod
At 12:00, I was planning to put an herbalist directly adjacent to my first marketplace in my third game (both in a mostly forested area). Since I noticed that when citizens 'visit the herbalist' they go to the marketplace first to pick up herbs. Is there a reason you placed it further away? Thanks for these really useful videos!
Just to split the difference--still close enough people don't have to walk and age to reach an herbalist but also still having some herbs around for them to gather.
I'm trying to follow this set up with a randomly generated map, but no matter how many I've generated, I can't seem to figure out a set up that encompasses two forest hubs within one market place. I've watched this video so many times. going to try again though, and this time I'll take notes.
You don't need it to be framed by mountains or hills as a natural kind ou boundary. You can literally pick 2-3 spits on large land mass and just say "these shall be the three locations"
Do you still record in 2023? Another banished series with mods like megamod 9 or colonial charter would be well received I think.
Thanks! I haven't recorded anything I've played this year but I'd like to. Appreciate the suggestion.
You should Play with the Mod "Colonial Charter" much more complex and the game becomes a total new thing. The vanilla game is dull compared to this mega mod. You should check it out.
hey! u know the fluffy thing u xan put on mics? i suggest u invest in that to stop the smaking (i dont really mind)
Abel George pop screen is what it is called.
For some reason, when I enter the seed that you are using I get a very different map. Any ideas why this could be?
I don't know/can't remember why but it's not just you, the seed doesn't give the same map anymore. I'm sorry--it was a nice map.
@@Honeywell. It's a shame indeed, as I wanted to follow along. But there are good seeds out there that I'm checking out so not the end of the world :)
1 down 17 more to go :D cant wait :*
When starting on hard, why build houses first? Build a Boarding House to consolidate resources and prevent people from getting cold. Then just focus on food until resources are stabilized.
A boarding house acts like separate houses in one building (if I remember correctly) so you actually end up needing more food and firewood. That wouldn't work with this start. But just in general, houses are easy enough to build and only one house is needed for warmth so since a boarding house isn't needed at the beginning of the game I'd consider it a waste of time and resources.
There's no one right way to play though - if you like starting off by building a boarding house that's fine too.
Honeywell, this isn't true. a boarding house takes less resources than the same amount of 8 houses that it would normally hold. Also, when building regular houses, people take as much food as they can to their individual house, leaving a shortage for the other 7 houses you require.
I don't need 8 houses at the start, only one and I don't build more houses until I'm ready to stock them with food and firewood. There just isn't any benefit to starting with a boarding house, in my opinion. Just the opposite since a boarding house requires more food and firewood than a house does.
but you start with 8 families. what's the point of only building one house? might as well not build any.
gravytrain421 You don't want everyone in houses right away because then they start having babies right away. Every baby/child requires the same food as an adult so you can easy end up with starvation deaths if you build too many houses right away.
Better to stagger building the houses so you can control the population growth better and avoid shortages in food, fuel, tools, and labor.
Of course you don't want to wait too long to build houses for your people as you'll end up with a labor shortage when your first generation starts dying off!
I've used the boarding house to start with to see how it'd work, and while it worked fine, it did not let you control your population growth well enough for me to recommend it in most starts.
You made me build schools first. Period. ☺️
This series is awesome! I have a question though, why is it that you used wood houses so late into the game? Sorry if it was answered in your videos, I haven't watched them all yet. Everything I find online seems to suggest stone houses are the way to go in the long run. I do like the cheaper requirements of the wood houses so if you have a convincing argument for sticking with them I'd gladly try that out.
Hi Lamb, thanks! I do talk about it in one of these episodes but if I remember correctly stone houses use 10 less firewood a year than wooden houses. In the early game you have tons of firewood and stone is the bottleneck so I prioritize building tunnels and roads with the stone and am able to expand and build wood houses as fast as I want to. Later, when there's hundreds of houses on the map, and that 10 extra firewood a year starts to hurt I switch to stone. By that time the infrastructure is in place so the demand for stone is less and at that point we should be able to trade for all of the stone we need for houses.
@@Honeywell. Cool, that makes sense! I'll have to give that a try :)
I punched in this map seed and it is nothing like your map, Wondering if because newer version of game?
When play a game you must learn to collocate a area something Is big for to put a storedgebarn something Is very important. Ok!
Ok but how do you pause road building?
Why does it still feel sloooooow even on 2x speed? I kept on wondering how slow it was on normal speed xD I will continue to watch other videos just to see if you ever discover the unpause button.
I play at 5x and sometimes 10x speed because I cant stand how slow everything is.
school house will be the first building? OH god the kids must love you.
Hi Bj :) Of course they do! lol
@@Honeywell. when are you doing another series on banished?
this one was great and taught so many people so many things
If I ever pick the game back up again it's possible... but probably not. Or at least not in the foreseeable future. @@Caspian4494
thank u for ur game play
ur brain and ur voice r awesome!
Finally someone not playing on easy! :D
WTF Like actually WTF Your voice makes a lot of difference. This actually LITERALLY sounds pleasing.....
YOU CAN BUILD TUNNELS?
+maccaaccam99 yes, since it came out :)
Is this game good? Is it a completed game?
It is completed and yes, it's a good game I think. If you pick it up I hope you like it as much as I did. :)
@@Honeywell. Thank you.
Good
It looks like you totally know what you are doing, great strategy and all, but I kinda feel like it takes away from the spirit of the game. The idea is the Banished need to rebuild themselves. I like to let it grow organically, as if I was experiencing the situation. I know, probably stupid but whatever.
I hear you! My first playthoughs of games are more like that but by I made this series I'd already played the game to death and this type of play is/was fun for me. :)
I like that idea. But after watching Honeywell, everytime I start with that in mind, I just start planning years in advance and I just can't stop myself.
thank you..
Beautiful voice - love playing alone and listening to it.
i love you, i love this game! :)
she plays exactly like me, but smarter
Is this Maggie Gyllenhaal's UA-cam channel lol you sound just like her or she sounds like you
nice
I just realized... this game is an easier Dwarf Fortress.
Cute Voice :D
Your voice is SO SOOTHING
your voice is butter.
subbed
God you sound adorable hahaha !!! Cool video btw.. :)
I started a game and during the first winter i killed everyone the women the men even the children the cold slaughted them.
Yikes! The game can be unforgiving at times.
Honeywell i did it to see how how long it took and to my surprise not long.
Thanks for subscribing to my channel! I'm going to do the same for you! Goodluck!
Thanks! I've really been enjoying your Cookervilletown series and I'm looking forward to more. :)
I like your voice. I do not even have this game.
Sweet voice
Good video, just slow down!
What a nice voice
I love to watch girls playing some games
I failed miserably 📉
Your voice is nice... lol.......
,
Woah...I had no idea you were a girl! Haha for some reason I thought you were a British guy!
Lol, where did you get that idea from?
Really? That is funny -- my squeaky voice must have been a shock then!
Honeywell It was haha!
Jossy Smith Tbh I have no idea...
Sims4News I do the opposite, I assume every sims player is female unless their profile says otherwise. Honeywell's MTS profile says female.
A woman playing a management game on hard mode?
Jesus Christ i'm such a noob even a woman play this game better than me.
