    "Men are that they might have joy" does not only pertain to our joyful circumstances, but it is also a promise for our miserable circumstances. If we stay grateful, thoughtful and patient, we will have joy through the misery.

    The first sentence of 2 Nephi 2:11 is the principle without which I would never have become Christian, let alone a Latter-day Saint, and I still struggle to understand all that it implies. Our very perceptions of the universe around us depend on the contrast between one thing and another. It is the key to progress. It is the key to Ecclesiastes 3:11. Thank you for this excellent and important lesson.

      [2 Nephi 2:11: For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility].
      [Ecclesiastes 3:11: He hath made everything beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.]

    You are so right Maria C. We are so privileged as you said word for word. It is such a shame that my lovey warm spirited Korean wife in our ward suffers what I call the haters thru Racism,Shunning, and Ostracisim. And she is a PURE Queen of Israel. I feel so sorry for her. After 20 years of it I am afraid she is going to leave the Church. Her heart is broken and she is sad. I just don't get it. We sit in the back and on the side and keep our heards down and our mouths closed.

    There is a distinction between the unconditional Abrahamic covenant, and the conditional Lehite covenant. One is permanent, and the other is temporary, as we see from the complete destruction of the Nephites.

    I have thought about the idea of opposition in eternity and have wondered where Lucifer got his ideas about how to "run the world". Who was he influenced by? Did he know "the source" personally or were the ideas in heaven's library? Was it a heavenly philosopher or was it an entire alternative that was in practice somewhere? These are completely unimportant musings for our journey here on earth, but I find them interesting to contemplate.

    Not nitpicking. The chiasmus for 2 Nephi 1:13-23 or about the 11-minute 20-second mark, has a typo at the bottom. Instead of chains is "chians" Not sure if this can be corrected but thought I would bring it to your attention. Great presentation otherwise.

    No other prophet in The Bible had the knowledge or knew this Jesus was to come,,,, Yet he knew in Detail everything Jesus was to come and do,, This book was supposedly written around 600 bc,,, The detail of how Nephi knew Jesus, was from the prospective, as if someone had this foreknowledge,, Hence, JS incorporating him in,,, Think about it,,, ?

    • @goldencross2947
      @goldencross2947 7 місяців тому

      Also want to add,,, You say he didn't know how to write? Just from the start, look how he wrote of the first vision,,,, JS knew how to write, and with quite detail,,, Tho he couldn't remember his actual first vision,,, As too why, many are told,,,
