    I really enjoyed this lesson. Thank you sister, for slowing down a bit in your speech. It is so helpful to be able to stay 'up' with you as you teach 😊

      You can adjust the speed by clicking on the wheel on the browser bar at the bottom of the screen. Click on that and you can chose to listen at .75 speed which will slow it down. You can also chose subtitles which are selected on the browser with a box and CC. These things might make it easier for you.

      @@brendabradford2843I don’t want to slow Bro Welch down though. This episode was just far more enjoyable to listen to. She did a great job on this one!

    Today is my first experience with your podcast. I sincerely appreciate your insights and will be back for more. It is helpful that when you refer to different scriptures to have time to write down book, chapter and verse for my later study of these chapters. I feel blessed, thank you.

      If you watch on UA-cam, there is a spot right below that says MORE. If you press that, it will open, and at the bottom of the Information, it will say, “Follow along using the transcript.” There is a button below that says, Show transcript. That will allow a transcript of the words to flow down the right-hand side of your screen.
      With both that, and at any point in the visual that they portray the scripture, you can pause and copy it down.

    Paul knew what to do as Elder Holland does so well. See 2nd Timothy 3 1-5. From such turn away. On Religious matters just turn away and now tongue in cheek You might want to avoid ANY political party (especially in America) because there will be no one left IN THE PARTY. Lol. but you get it. FROM SUCH TURN AWAY. Do not let them bother you as Elder Holland says so brilliantly said especially IN LIEU OF ALL WE KNOW AND ALL WE HAVE EXPERIENCED. Just TURN AWAY. ...I know that can be hard but it takes practice and you can get better and better at it with practice.

    At the 18-minute mark, there is a discussion of the repetition of "O." Is there some meaning behind 6 repetitions? The numerical value of 6 is the letter vav. This can have a conceptual meaning of a connector between Heaven and Earth. Perhaps without these 6 items, there is no connection between the two spheres?
    Just thinking out loud.

    I'd love to copy and paste the table at 4:03 into my Gospel Library. However using the snipit tool on my computer isn't working. Is there someplace on the Book of Mormon Central website where I can find it? I've looked and there doesn't seem to be. Thanks!

      You can pull the UA-cam version up on your phone and take a screen shot from there. Then email it to yourself. (If this is not appropriate, please feel free to remove it).

    Thank you. I Have question what does mean in isaiah and in book od mormon Word "confound" because translator translated diferently so I confused?

    • @RitaandKenSpencer
      @RitaandKenSpencer 2 місяці тому

      REPLY In the Merriam Webster Dictionary, there are about eight meanings each with many shades of meaning. Some of the most relevant are:
      * To throw (a person) into confusion or perplexity.
      * To increase the confusion of.
      * To baffle, frustrate.
      The archaic usage is given as: “To bring to ruin or destroy.” This seems to be the most relevant in this case.
      Meanwhile, the New Translation and Commentary on the Hebrew Bible gives the following:
      Isaiah. 50:7 “...and so I was not disgraced,” and then added, "The prophet (Or the Savior), knowing that he speaks for God and is supported by God does not feel really shamed even in the midst of public humiliation” (Robert Alter, The Hebrew Bible, Volume 2, The Prophets, 729. W. W. Norton, London).

    Lehi referred to Jehovah as The 'Messiah.' Nephi referred to Him as 'The Lamb of God.' At first, Jacob referred to Him as 'Holy One of Israel.' After his vision during the night after Chapter 9, Jacob referred to Him as 'CHRIST.' I love that each of the Nephite spiritual leaders preferred a different name for Him. From this point forward, the writers referred to Him as Christ or Jesus Christ. When the people became wicked after 200 A.D., they no longer referred to Him as Christ. He was called Jesus. Why? Perhaps they no longer cared about His gift of the atonement. They no longer believed in Him.

    • @RitaandKenSpencer
      @RitaandKenSpencer 2 місяці тому

      That could be the case indeed. As they were not attending meetings, and bearing testimony, they probably referred to him as what came easiest. They had no desire to “exalt his name” as David did in Psalm 34:1-3:
      “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me and let us exalt his name together.”

    I beg to differ. I do not believe God and Jesus insist on us being bogged down with what comes first in order to receive the Holy Spirit. I've been able to and know other people who are guided by and feel the Holy Spirit without going through these ordinances.

      Yes, others can feel the Holy Spirit, but don't have the gift of the Holy Ghost. Watch David Alexander who was an Evangelic Pastor who found the truth of our church and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost and testifies of how much greater it is...

      Yes, nearly 10 years before the church found me, the Holy Ghost saved my life on a dark New York City street. One year later and 800 miles away, after, a lovely member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints pointed me in the right direction and the Holy Spirt directed the Mormon missionaries to my door. It was then that the Holy Spirt became the constant companion that he is today.
