Psalm 84:1-12 KJV How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! [2] My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God . [3] Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. [4] Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. [5] Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them . [6] Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. [7] They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. [8] O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah. [9] Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. [10] For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. [11] For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. [12] O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
Yep, absolutely. In my experience the things I think are good, are in fact not so. How wonderful to have a God who knows what's good for us. Thanks so much for the comment Catherine ! - Hadyn
This is one of my favorites that you have done. I don't know how many times I've come back to listen to it! And I just realized today that I never told you how much I love it. It's an encouragement! 💚
I'm so glad Ann! Yes how amazing it is to have a savior who is both the colossus we see in the book of Revelation, but also the one who draws so near and gentle to us, who will ultimately wipe away every tear from our eyes. Thank you for your encouragement Anne! - Hadyn
We, listeners, can not get enough of hearing the Scriptures in song!! Lord, we are "happy" that You are our "dwelling place" where we have found rest & peace - so lovely!
Amen. What a sure hope we have in Christ. And what a present help we have in the Holy Spirit, even receiving foretastes in this life, of the glory to come.
Very moving. I think this is an old Irish melody. I sent it to my three cousins today as my aunt, their mother passed away this morning and the words are very comforting singing of being in the presence of the LORD. They all have a strong faith, but still grief is very real. The smallest verse in the Bible is "Jesus wept." He knew tears and was a Man of Sorrows, yet He provides joy through salvation, so that we have hope in the resurrection after death. My aunt although living in England for many years came from Northern Ireland where I live (she is my father's sister), and so I felt this hymn paid tribute to her Irish roots. "SHALOM" 🌿🕊 This was definitely the best rendition and so sincerely sung and it just popped up on the screen! 🤗
I'm so glad this song was a blessing to you and your extended family. May you and and they, know a peace as they go through the deep waters of grief. Bless you guys. - Hadyn
Thank you and your friends for this rendition - strong, straightforward, heartfelt and true in delivery. Gid bless your ministry. What an powerful voice, desr friend. Extremely moving. XG Ire
Thank you so much for doing this hymn i Never heard it before but it's great! I'm sure you get many requests but I'd love to hear "lead me to Calvary"(lest I forget Gethsemane) also "be still my soul"
Your very welcome Josiah, glad it was a blessing! I've put both on my list. It may be a while before I can get to them, but I'll get them put together. They'd likely come out mid next year. : )
Hi Judy, I'm afraid I don't have any such list, but these songs that we have here on a Hymn for today are based on various psalm. As the Deer, Praise My Soul the King of Heaven, All People that on Earth Do Dwell, A mighty Fortress is our God, and (One of my favorites) I Waited for the Lord my God, which is based on Psalm 40. Hope that helps!
Thank you! It's a tradition Scottish Folk Melody, and on the music I have it says it was adapted by Jonathan Asprey. At the bottom of the song sheet it reads, "Music arrangement (adapted) Copyright 1975 Celebration/Kingsway Music. tym@kingsway.co.uk Words: Copyright control. Note: The music book we have at Church is just individual songs compiled into a book. Hope that's of some help! - Hadyn
One can also find the song in the 1980 (still in print) "Cry Hosanna" songbook put out by the 70's song and community group The Fisherfolk (who are affiliated with Celebration/Kingsway Music). This song has always been dear to my heart. Thank you for this lovely rendition, Hayden.
Hi Evie, I'm sorry no that one isn't on Spotify. Sadly the tune for this one is the public domain, we have a few dozen of our other songs up on Spotify though which you can find here - open.spotify.com/artist/3gBp1m2myV4LuxwN7cGXL7?si=oxSflek9T0mtWG70TYixSA

So these aren't technically the chords, but are the rough Chord Shapes when I have a capo on the 10th fret. Also Note that the (D?) is the same shape as an open C Chord but moved up 2 frets. G C How lovely is your dwelling-place, D? G O Lord of hosts, to me; G C G my soul is longing and fainting Em C the courts of the Lord to see. Thank you so much for this - reminding us of the joy, refuge and hope we have in Him.

The Irish in me loves the Irish in this.
Well, the Australian in me, loves any hymn that has Irish in it! Celtic versions of old hymns are probably my favorite versions to listen to!
Love this song and the simplicity of it being solo sung accompanied by the guitar was very uplifting t. Thanku, keep on praising our God
Thanks so much for the encouragement Kim, I'm so glad it's a blessing!
Psalm 91:1 - 'He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty'.
There's no other place of rest.
I heard this version many years ago but couldn't find it .
Such a great performance, thank you xxx
You're very welcome Donna. I've always been a fan of this melody. Bless ya! - Hadyn

I love this hymn. This is perfect for singing along to when in lockdown and we can't attend church.
It's one of my favorites from the ones we sing.
And they successfully shut down churches. They must be tickled pink.
Beautiful song. May you continue to be a blessing, Hayden.
Thanks so much Jalun.

Well played. Who first popularised singing Psalm 84 from the Scottish Psalter to the tune Tramps and Hawkers?
Thank you. I'm not sure? It's just the way we sing it a church.
Hi Hayden!
I love this❤ do you have a list of all your psalms songs? I can’t find your name to look for more.
