I have the RL6, a 6kW unit. Terrific little machine. Mine has 11,000 hours on it and it's still going strong. Don't be put off by the hours on yours. All that really matters is the care it was given, especially oil and filter changes.
I just bought a couple things from them. A Generac light tower and a tow generator like yours. I got a really good deal. Mine phyically fine and works, just has cheaper dome light housing and the cover is plastic and faded. Mine has like 4800 hours, came from Herc and the best part is I paid zero for freight on it! It was local so I went and picked it up. The generac light tower I had shipped. It was small so I had it shipped truck freight. I didnt use Bidadoo's shipping. Their best price was stull double what truck freight was.
We have the exact same one but paid $2,000 for it. We had a little bit of bad luck because it looks like Sun Belt swapped out the ballast with a burnt one between the auction time and when we picked it up. Nonetheless I wanted you to know that you greatly helped me out because I need to replace one of the bulbs.
I would say keep the Metal Halides and dont replace them with LED. The 1kW MH Ballasts output different voltages that are not 120, which may or may not blow the LEDs up. And, Metal Halide lamps (In my experience) last way, way, way longer than LEDs, I have seen Metal Halide lamps last 15-16 Years running 24/7. Cheers from Saudi Arabia ya bro
It’s a good thing you did keep the broken bulb in the repaired fixture. The arc tube in a metal halide bulb will give off dangerous amounts of ultraviolet radiation which is harmful to people when directly exposed to the arc tube. The outer glass (bulb) filters out the harmful radiation. If the outer glass bulb breaks on one of these lamps, turn it off immediately and remove and dispose of properly.

Yes it really seems to be great prices...
Just a suggestion... Clean your oily prints off the bulbs. The oils from your hands will make hot spots on the bulb
A good thought.

Very interesting I never thought of it like that...

Wow that's is nuts.
How tall is the tower? Would love to repurpose one for ham radio use.
It gets way up there it would be perfect for that. I'd guess 20'-25'.
Hey can u please put the website for were u bought it from
Bidadoo auction
We have the same one. Purchased 4 years ago and today the GFI and the lights stopped working out of nowhere :(
That sucks.
