Paul Bettany is one of the very few actors who can play literally anything. He's played anything from meek and geeky to completely psychotic and is always convincing.
What an underrated actor. With this role he shows just what he's capable of. All his life he has been doing supporting roles or leads in B-Movies. Why will no director take a chance on him? Indie Movies With great scripts, dialogue and character Development. I get the fact that he is not a very well known superstar that can be cast in a 500 million $ blockbuster, but honestly, who gives a shit about Movies like that. I would love to see more of Bettany in serious Method acting roles.
I appreciate that this is a response 10 months late to your comment, but have you seen Master and Commander? Paul Bettany had a leading role in that film alongside Russell Crowe. Their performances are both fantastic, and the film itself is a stunning motion picture. I agree with you though, Bettany is a gem of an actor, and I think he has earned enough acting credibility to warrant being cast as a lead in award winning films.
@@beeman2075 yep. Absolutely great as Charles Darwin. It was not a leading role however, but a supporting role. Russell Crowe had the main part. Paul and Russell's collaborations are wonderful. A Beatifuld Mind being one of them. I'm pretty sure it was Russel Crowe's decision to cast Bettany as Charles Darwin in Master & Commander, seeing how well they play off eachother and are great friends. I think Paul and Jennifer Connelly, his wife, met on the set of that (A beautiful mind). Tells us, atleast me, something about Paul's character when Connelly chooses him out of all the othet famous actors and superstars she's worked with. Drop dead gorgeous woman, and highly intelligent, and a great actor too, most importantly.
I honestly think Paul can win an Oscar. He just needs the right role. He could already act circles around some of the actors we have today. Guarantee you if you give him the right movie and give him a good part, he could bring home the big guns easily. Side note: I know awards and stuff don't matter in retrospect but just a thought
Bettany is one of my TOP 5 favorite actors of all time. Bettany may not be interested in how he is rated (?), but he is criminally underrated in my opinion. Everything he does, says, and how he does and says it is brilliant. I simply LOVE this man. Thank you Mr. Bettany! P.S. Amazing hair....so gorgeous!
@@olliefrancis3740 Don't be an idiot, you can find some truth in his philosophy and still acknowledge that he did do some wrong. He killed people, maimed more, scarring them and their loved ones forever.
@@TheScarletGamer I'm with you. I loved this show, and I actually felt so sorry for him in the end. Yes, he was deranged in murdering innocent people. With that said, he didn't commit his crimes with evil or perverted intent like every other murderer out there. I don’t get into too many shows but wow did I ever get consumed by this one. Everything is so well done, the acting is phenomenal and the little details so believable. I literally started watching the first episode again after it ended just to see the characters again who made such an impact on me.
the show is pretty good, even better that i could ever imagine. He's acting is fantastic, i cannot believe the little preparation he had, he did it incredibly good. i hope to see more of the serie in other cases like Ted Kaczynski, an idealist genius.
Paul was fantastic in this show as he always is in everything he does. Like to see him in more movies and what not. As many have said, very underrated actor.
Brian DePalmaDeMajorca A grimmer city is one with dead streets. No music. No performance. Just robots making their way from task to task without the human interaction of performance art to crack the fluorescent monotony of a sterile existence. If you have the time, Amanda Palmer's The Art of Asking TED talk on her early days as a street performer is worth a watch.
I agree about busking, though buskers during the Edinburgh Festival (which is clearly what Stephen was) are a whole different breed. Those folk are crazy. One guy has a Henry Hoover that plays the sax. Another guy (who turns up every year) does nothing except stand on his head with his head in a bucket. And God, the 'living statues'... 😫 Some fantastic musicians in there too though.
Moloko I agree that not all buskers are great, but the lowest form of entertainment? I'll take a vibrant street full of crappy buskers over watching The Apprentice (or most faux-reality shows) any day of the week.
When i first saw him as Silas in DVC, i was shocked, since i had never seen him before and yet, i imagined Silas to be exactly like him. Then i saw him in the Priest and the rest is history. I will forever miss Jarvis, though. Friday's not the same. She's just not Jarvis.
No one has mentioned he is the luckiest man with one of the greatest beautiful women on Earth that's why they still together 2020 I hope so last time I heard was 2 years ago

@@QueenMegaera Oh my God, finally someone who noticed that as well. Paul and Tony Head are my favourite Brits ever, and I noticed some similar mannerisms, esp the explosive giggling.

Busking is not one of the lowest forms of entertainment! 😄 Artists haven’t compromised their lyrics or melodies to make them commercially successful. There are high budget movies which are by no means a high form of entertainment. Transformers 2 or something is a great example of that.

I didnt like how he potrayed Kaczynski tho. It felt like watching psycho Sheldon Cooper, too stuck up and wooden
@@jedigovna9537 kaczynski is stuck up and wooden though
@chess boi where did i ever indicate that he did something wrong? Are you too inept to follow basic reading comprehension?
Paul would make a great David Bowie.

Tilda Swinton would make a better one!
Moloko or Tilda could pull out And excellent Paul!
Same here, Paul would be great :o
yeah, but Paul is so tall!

Your avatar picture fits your quote quite nicely.
Yellow there, Mr. Bettany.
He is that. 😍

Ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

So nice to see him. Am I the only one who also remembers him in "Wimbledon"?

I loved that film with Kirsten Dunst. Paul is da bloke!
He does not look 46 years old at all.
TSK he looks like a drunk 39!
I know! I thought he was in his mid to late 30's or something. He's very handsome, too.

gangster no 1
same... then i hear, "to trudge!?"!

They're flirting pretty unabashedly here. I think Colbert has a bit of a man crush!
Paul Bettany and Daniel Craig
He was such a badass in "Gangster No. 1"
He was unsettlingly brilliant as Kaczynski, terrific actor !

Just seen Unabomber on netflix whoa whoa
He looks like Bowie, he looks like Roger Moore, he looks like Peter Weller... This man looks like everyone!
he should be the next robocop
He looks amazing for his age! WOW!
Paul Bettany will always be Geoffrey Chaucer from 'A Knights Tale' to me
He will ALWAYS be from A Knight's Tale to me...

My goodness he's so charming and handsome. Loved him in Master and Commander and now love him even more
Why he is so funny and cuteee
did he get an award for his role as Ted K? should have!
He has been married to Jennifer Connelly since 2003- two fantastic actors.
