Feed prep, interesting process every time. I remember as a kid, we would load up empty burlap bags, shelled corn and baled hay onto a wagon. Take it down to the feed mill where everything was ground and mixed. Mix had some cotton seed, minerals and sorghum. Packed it all in 50 pound bags. Got to move all that off the wagon into the barn by hand. Keep on posting. Never get tired of this. Thanks for all your hard work.
i like how you showed how you had worked through things with the old feeder and how much difference is in the new one. Also, you point that with any new equipment there is still a learning curve no matter how experienced you are. FYI - I remember feeding by hand with a wheel barrow. Granted I worked on a very small dairy of about 120 head. Keep up the awesome work.
What I really liked with this video, was your open honesty. Pointing out all the bad stuff with the old feeder, and how farmers need to mend and make do with equipment. And then an honest first use of the feeder, so many other channels get new equipment, practice away from the camera, then when they film, try to make out it is their first time using it, so obviously isn't. But you? You just climbed in and filmed it, mistakes and all. Well done, Brave thing to do
You have some of the cleanest cow’s I’ve seen. Some dairies the cows are filthy. This tells me that you are compassionate about cows. As you say “happy cows give more milk “
It pleases me to see that you care about cleaning an equipment that you are just about ready to replace. It shows a lot about your values and personnalitiy. I like people like you around !
a John Deere 4240, when I was working on my dads dairy farm near Sarnia, Ontario when I was 16 (41 now) we had this tractor!! The insides of that tractor brought back memories of 18 hours in it plowing fields with only AM stations on the radio! Brought back lots of memories also that PTO yellow handle to engauge and the hydraulic connectors. Man I miss farming, but I don't!
We been using F700 for several years. It’s a good mixer. From experience, buy a spare belt in a few years to keep on hand. It will only break when dealer is closed. Maybe that’s just our luck😂
That is a really cool mixer. Seems nice that it does not dump the feed on the cows heads as much as the old one. It looks like you will got a lot of good use out of it. Thanks for showing us how it works. Always love your videos.
I thought that it was already doing a better job mixing the food just from what I remember from the old one. Enjoy your new farm toy. Thanks for the video.
Eric!!! As a retired Advanced EMT, who has responded to too many farm accidents, PLEASE disconnect that PTO from the tractor to be extra sure that no power is going to hit those augers while you are standing on/next to them! And why are you not wearing a dust mask more often? Ever hear of 'Farmers Lung?" Absolutely love your videos and commitment to farming. With out you and your dad, the rest of us DON'T EAT!
It is nice to upgrade when you can and I think this is going to be a nice add-on for your farm. Thanks for sharing and have a nice safe day. God bless you all!!!
What an honour to watch an honest man. Congrats on the new equipment. Figure out the bits and pieces in a few days and you've made your life just a bit easier.
Congratulations on your new feed wagon. Hope you enjoy using it and it helps you feed the cows the way you want. She looks nice and look forward to hear your thoughts on her.
Watching these videos, with all the technology, labor saving machines, and hours worked, it makes me wonder how many people were needed to do those jobs a hundred years ago. Ten generations of dairy farming. Obviously, your family knew what they were doing. Thanks for these videos!
congratulations on the new equipment & gr8 patienCe waiting for the delivery... i was waiting for your dad to christen it before its virgin run with a bottle of chocolate milk... this particular video has some of your most stunning angles & videography to date... i appreciate your work &send the cows HUGE luv from california
Hey Eric, I really like this video and all the thoughts you put into the new mixer. The two-speed is nice for big batches of food when you don´t have the biggest tractor in front of it. It gets going much better. I used a similar mixer with the front conveyor and we opened the gate too the maximum and had the conveyor speed controlled by a little poti. So the distribution was nice an even. pls keep up the nice videos.
Holy Holstein...I open the video after it's been out for 13 minutes and already 3,552 views! People must be waiting with mouse in hand to catch your next amazing video. Well done Eric.
So much more benefits with the new feeder. 1. Wheels underneath the tub, not outside like the old mixer.better stability 2. Wide angle pto will certainly ease driveline issue. 3. Front cross conveyor does not limit you from how you feed in the sheds. How many knives per auger? 6? 7? Looks well made so should serve you well.
Pressure washer tip.....wet everything down 10 minutes before pressure washing properly. Makes the job easier or leave out in the rain to soak, or leave out overnight and wash while the morning dew is still on it.
At the dairy I work at we have a pretty big patz mixer and it works pretty good. It works well for a 500 cow dairy. I like to see other people’s farm. I love the videos.
Yeah I agree, feeding out one side solves 2 problems, 1, you can extend conveyor and leave it, 2 you won’t have to worry about feed getting thrown to far! Great vid!
I was worried about all the minerals and stuff sitting on top of the auger, but When you hit that high gear it just cleaned it off like nothin. Awesome piece of kit.
Nice unit, one my second Meyer 470. Huge fan of the belt unload over the chain conveyor, first one had the chain. Some of the updates have seem to been worth it.
Kind of neat to see you get a pice of equipment that is built locally for me. Know a lot of the people that probably built that mixer. Drive past Meyer Manufacting all the time
Wow! Even with you standing next to it I never realized just how big your old mixer was until you were standing on the mixing auger cleaning the sides. Hope it goes to a good home!
Great videos and real life first time use. Even tho the new mixer is about the same size and color the cows certainly knew it was a different piece of equipment. Congratulations on the new feeder and to be almost at 300 thousand subs. Great job young man!
Eric, what a blessing to be able to pick up a new piece of equipment! It seems like there would be gauge marks on the door to see exactly how open it was.
Nice to see your dad take over the camera while you were dropping feed, careful he’s going to start his own channel and compete. I was expected to see a case of Mtn Dew from Messicks when you opened the door on the mixer the first time.
You know you watch too much 10th when you get excited to see the new mixer.
Oh yea lol I stopped what I was doing to watch and check it out
There’s nothing such as to much 10th
love knowing the cows will be fed and that makes them happy which produces more milk! :-)

You guys got a very nice TMR mixer to feed now. I had the opportunity to look at it at Messick's. Have an awesome weekend
Even the cows noticed when you pulled in with the new mixxer that something is different.
You have some of the cleanest cow’s I’ve seen. Some dairies the cows are filthy.

That's not dirt! That's yummy molasses.
@@earlhollar1906 yeah I know inside of it but I am talking about the outside of it also!
Nice descriptive video. I love how that higher speed , cleans off the mixers.

You make good videos and are very knowledgeable. Best of luck, for bringing information to people how hard farmers work.
You standing inside the old feed mixer, really gave a good look at how big those mixers actually are. Yes 6' 5" a guy can always dream!
It's not always greener on the other side of the fence. You learn to duck a lot!
Best of luck with the new mixer 👍 very good video, Jamie from Ireland 🇮🇪
And now, the cows don't hit their heads on the old chute.
Thank You for explaining all the details and thought process for making decisions‼️ Many Prayers and Blessings for Yall ‼️

Eric, thanks for the video. I hope the new feedmixer will surve your farm trouble free for many years to come.
