- Most people don't realize how easy it is to get free blackberry plants from 'suckers'. These are off shoots of the plant that form their own plant. The original rhizome sends off a root called a 'stolon'
. Then new vertical growth shoots up out of the ground which is called a 'sucker'. This sucker is a free plant that can be removed and repotted or transplanted to another part of your garden. Its a great way to expand your grow space and food production. You can never have enough blackberries as far as I am concerned. I love them. Get out there and keep on growing organic!

Prime-Ark Freedom blackberry. I've read about these. They are a primicane, will fruit the first year and will fruit twice, spring and late summer with huge berries. They have no thorns. U of Arkansas developed them. Penseberry farms or something like that sells them at a reasonable price. My friend is giving some thornless blackberries away they've spread so much.
Yeah the Freedom Variety sounds good because it has no thorns apparently. Mine has thorns but produces similar but not as large of berries. I will have to try one of those planted next to my Prime-Ark 45
They are very easy to grown from cuttings aswell
Yes that is true, another way to clone your plant
You shouldn’t be able to patent a plant
I was thinking the same thing when I first read that. I will have to make a video on breeding blackberries in the future, after some research...
if that were the case we would have none of these cool, tasty varieties of plants we have
@@hulkamania5071 we’d have all of them and more
You just dont understand the amount of work and years of dedication it takes

I don’t care for blackberries. I don’t like the seeds. They get in between my teeth.
These don't have much seeds actually.
