They complain about Yu-Gi-Oh nowadays when at the start it had the most consistent FTK in history, a broken Chaos deck who was so good it could compete with some 2016 decks 13 years later and other ridiculous stuff
But at least the FTK was fast and didn't took like 50 plays in one turn and also it was banned and around 2005 I think with Monarchs and Cyber Dragon, the Meta was quite slow and settled down like it never did afterwards again
@@thiccupcake This is a 2002 deck bruh, obviously NOW I'd rather get this but playing a 2020 deck against Adamancipator is the same as playing a 2002 deck against that FTK (even worse I guess as if you couldn't pull it off turn 1 you had other chances in other turns as there were no handtraps or negates), yet people complain about the state of the game now when it was always like that. You can complain about prices yes but not about the gameplay
@@dbomba That's not a fair comparison. There have been FTKs in the past, including Makyura, but they were the exception, not the rule. In 2020 it's the rule. A standard yugioh deck in 2020 is designed to set up an unbreakable board turn 1, essentially winning on turn 1, and the entire game is centralized around that fact. That's why Nibiru and Dark Ruler No More had to be printed, because it's now just accepted as a core part of the gameplay, whereas the existence of Makyura FTK was always shunned and quickly dealt with by the FL list.
I believe Maykura was legal in our format briefly. I remember because he’s the reason why Chick the Yellow got limited for a time because of the infinite attack damage with Maykura, Chick, and Call of the Haunted.
8:10 I'm also not a fan of erratas because most of them did accomplish nothing since they are either still good / broken or unplayable. Post Errata Exchange doesnt only require that both players have at least 15 cards in their GY, but it also got an "once per duel" clause. Markuya needs to be destroyed (or send?) from the field to the GY & got an opt
@@charlesf.7947 Yes, but I think this week I heard that pojo is still working. Don't know for certain though. Shriek was more news related, if I remember correctly. I used to watch the Jump Scans for the Banlist, when it was the same for OCG and TCG.
I built this deck around the time when it 1st came out. Was super sad to learn about the errata! Nostalgic thinking back, yugioh was a totally different game back then! Now all decks are trolly 0tk like Makyura haha
Exchange of the spirit came out as an elemental energy special edition promo back in december 2005. By that time the even reckless greed and book of tayou were limited. So yeah it didn't do squat in the tcg, eventually getting banned in April 2006.
Great vid! I wonder...Was there an official OCG Victory Dragon list from 2005-2006? If so, it would interesting to see it featured in this series! Bless you bro!
Victory Dragon wasn't really banned for is effect, it was banned mostly for ruling issues. The decks that mostly ran it back then were called T.O.D (Time over death), which were decks aiming to stall for time the whole game 1, then after time was called, they slap Victory Dragon for the whole match win
Makyura should be in a future post 2014 cup right? Since it is too good for pre 2010 decks for example. I would like to see Chaos Yata in both cups too
Makyora with Gemini Ablation for Gemini to get their effects turn 1. Tris Magistus summon's out Summoner Monk from hand, Summoner effect, discard Spell to Special Makyora from Deck, send them for Link plays to activate Makyora, activate Ablation for Evocator Eveque. Summoner Monk and Ablation are both searchable from Primemathmech Alembertian, but requires a lot to get the search. For Ablation, you could Foolish Burial Goods, Summon Knightmare Gryphon and activate its effect, Set Ablation from Grave and be able to activate it as easy as that sounds, but it's less work than the other one.
Hi Lithium, Can you please write the names of cards you were using in the description? I know this is so exhausting, But I will really appreciate it. I want to play your Dark Matter Dragon Rulers deck so badly, But there are lots of cards that I have no idea about their names
I put a deck download in the video description. The 6 cards missing in the EDOpro data base are 3 Makyura and 3 Exchange of the spirit (both pre-errata).
Damn this Deck is really nasty, so I like it 👍 As I remember Exchange to the Spirit was a pretty rare card which we got in about 2004 / 05 after the 1st BL dropped (Markuya was at 1 first). About card destruction: Yap, u have to draw the same number of cards which were discarded, otherwise u lose
I believe the biggest reason is that they are boring af. They normally only have one way they can win, no deviation. Watching someone go through the steps would get old after watching its second match. I do get the appeal of seeing super broken decks play in a actual meta game though. It’s kinda like a stories antagonist hahaha.
Why FTKs aren't just forbidden(if you do it on tournament you lose that duel)? Day 39 of waiting for them to be officially forbidden. I started at Payne 96 channel
Hey man I really enjoy watching your videos! You always have interesting content that has me coming back for more! I recently started my own channel but not with many subscribers. What would you suggest to get more subscribers and get the word out? Thank you!!
These kind of gimmick decks are so fun to watch. Literally shouting "go! Go! Go!" Wanting this deck to reach its win condition. Especially that last game where it makes you dig through your entire deck.
