Phylicia is one of our reigning Queens and is one of the most Regal, impressive, beautiful, and socially important images of Black womanhood our media has exposed to the world!
@dlpaul345 Actually, as a Student Ambassador, I know for a fact that she not only graduated from Howard in 1970 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, but she was also a Howard University Campus Pal and member of the Alpha Chapter of AKA Sorority, Inc. Her Wikipedia page, answers.com page, imdb page, tvguide.com page, the fact that she constantly visits Howard, and the picture of her posted in Locke Hall on Howard's campus all verify this. I'm sorry that you were misinformed.
As soon as I heard this on the Solange album, I had to see this performance again. I was young when I first heard it and it went over my head then, but now nothing rings truer. Such a beautiful poem. 💕
absolutely love this. that was beautiful. tht one person is insane and clearly doesnt understand the story of the poem. the poem was as beautiful as she is. amazing woman, tht Phylicia Rashad
She is truly talented! I interviewed her for a play she directed in Los Angeles "Joe Turner's Come & Gone" by August Wilson. Everyone from Angela Bassett to Kym Whitley all said they where there to see....HER: PHYLICIA RASHAD!
@09ACBrown If women aren't brought down all the time like this, maybe it'll be better. Women aren't made because, shocker, we aren't objects, we are human beings.
i know this might be a bit much to ask...but does anyone have a transcript of the lovely poem? i would really like to recite this in my english class...
@1:23 Quiet and country? Definitely from America. Besides, what does that even matter? How are you people overseeing that radiance and all that elegance; it's just so powerful!!
When Phylicia Rashad talks... you LISTEN!

No wonder she was America's favorite mom for so many years.

So true... As a Senegalese who has spent most of her adult life abroad, I can relate... Home is where love is...
She looks and sounds just like my mother, beautiful and scary at the same time
It's funny how most-all mother's sound that way huh? Mine included! Lol.
