I have house in Kerala , around 4500 SqFt , constructed thinking that I will move back and live there . Designed with latest of everything available at that time . Never stayed there - my parents were there - after they passed away the house is vacant and I don't want to sell it due to my emotional bonding with the place . After seeing Kerala change due to pressures from religious extremists I abandoned my plans and decided to settle in US . My advice to anyone who hasn't made up their mind to stay back in Kerala , don't build anything fancy , it is a dying place.
i forseed this situation and thats the reason even after having a house in kozhikode i constructed a new house in bangalore and now living in canada. once all my liabalities are over my plan is to settle in highranges like ooty kodugu or madikeri.
You have explained in short what Kerala is now. Land is expensive and no infrastructure. Millions of house are just ghost house with no one to live. Spending crores of rupees is not worth. I was also planning to build house but abonded plan.
Absolutely agree with you! Your reasons for abandoning that beautiful home resonates with me too.
