Cool video brother. I've been wanting to find island to camp in the Treasure Coast. Thanks your video I found some. Thank you and I enjoy watching them. Definitely subscribe and liked 👍🏼.
Thank you and welcome aboard!! If youll like, I have a small group on Facebook Called Tye Muddy Feet Oasis. That's where I and others post out adventures and pics.
Very informative, as a newbie I did not know that and wondered if I did that would it be ok or would I damage the engine some how but now I know. So is this with all engines? I have a Orca 9.9hp. Thanks for sharing Ray K UK 🇬🇧 YNWA.
No not really. I do wash the boat after every use. I rinse it with clean water to remove all the salt and sand, then dry it with some towels. I would probably use some UV protection of I had it on a trailers and it was exposed to the sun all the time, but I roll it and store it on my room, tied to a hand truck.
Eric my man, I’ve got a 15hp tohatsu same as yours, can we modify and upgrade the carby to a 20hp since everything else is that same cheers bro!! Yello from straya mate🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Hello! As long as it is not an EFI model, yes, you can. All you gotta do is buy the 20hp carb and replace it. If it is an EFI model, you'll need the computer chip replaced instead.
I learned another difference of tohatsu and suzuki. We have 2 shallow drive angles. With shallow drive mode (or driving in shallow) I am a little concerned about impeller sucking sand and mud into the engine. Do you have any recommendations for that ?
Yes, if that happens, turn it off and use oars or paddle. Chances are you are in too shallow waters. It won't hurt the engine but you must flush it with fresh water afterwards so it gets clean.
..the impellor's intake is relatively high up, above the prop on the underside of the anti-ventilation plate(on the merc/toh 6hp)...so it is actually JUST under water when using the sw drive position...
I do not have a lot of experience with kayaks. A company wanted me to review a kayak for them and make a video, but I used a friend of mine to help me make that video. ua-cam.com/video/OfMk5UPAqmM/v-deo.html
In my opinion the best kayaks for saltwater are inflatable kayaks without a fabric casing (no inner tube). They are much easier to transport, wash and dry. But these can be damaged in rivers and lakes where you have reeds, trees, branches etc , so you need a casing or a plastic kayak.
i have a inflatable boat and your chanell helps me with so many issues, thank you.
Glad I can help 😌
Thanks for your video. I just got the same motor and was trying to figure out how to raise it for shallow water. Much appreciated!!
Glad I can help!
Thanks, Erick. I bought the same motor and didn’t know this. 👍
Sweet! Glad this video helped
Cool, I learned how to use the shallow water drive and I love Shell Key. I fish there often.
Nice! It's so handy to use when in shallow waters.
Never new this shallow drive system. Thanks so much brother
You're very welcome
Thank you for taking your time and explaining this!
My pleasure. I was lost trying to figure it out when I first started using outboards back in the day.
Absolutely man. Thank you
Thanks Erick! Another great video. Keep them going!
Will do, and thanks for watching.
Looks like they changed this in 2023 Tohatsu. You have to put the reverse lock lever in tilt up position before lifting up the motor.
Oh I see. Mine is a 2020 model.

Looking forward to seeing another great camping trip by the water brother hopefully a new locations 👌😎
I made a few on some rivers. Econ and Suwannee
@@ErickMartinSucre new videos?? How did I miss that.. got check
@@tacticalpickle7 Hehe! It's all good. Thanks for watching.
I tried my tohatsu 9.8, it does not need to shift the gear to forward to lift up the motor.
Nice!

Most small outboards have the shallow drive. Up to 40hp if I am not mistaken, but mostly up outboards 20hp or less definitely do.
Thanks for watching!
@@ErickMartinSucre thanks for getting back to me. 🫡
Anytime 😊
Another great informative video thanks. Do you use any U.V protection products on your inflatable boats or cleaners ?

If the base is stiff,no problem. But if it's loose, the propeller stirs up the mud and sand. I'll use the oars anyway.
@@boatsandoutboards9070 A wise choice.
Erick what inflatable boat are you using
That's my Saturn ZK380 Inflatable Kaboat. It's more dinghy than kaboat.
What's a good kayak for saltwater
