I use point editing often but you certainly opened some new doors. The Silhouette Studio capability is amazing. Love, love, love the squirrel design. I stopped the video just to go get it. It sums up my life.
Where were you over a year ago when I was trying to learn edit points! I've learned a ton by trial and error in the last year, but I still have a lot to learn! Hope you'll be adding more videos on edit points. You are a great teacher, I learn more from you in one video than I do in 10 of anyone else!
I use point editing a lot, but the trick on cropping an image is awesome. thank you. That will save me a lot of time. All your videos are helpful in at least one way or more.
A hugely important use case for point editing is when you are trying to optimize a larger design for a smaller scale. I just printed two T-shirts the other day with a specific Mandala motif. The one for Mens Medium has cut ok as is, but for the Women's Small the motif had to be shrunk. Just resizing the complex paths wouldn't result in a well cut result. So, I used curves editing to simplify the motif, and then further streamline and move some shapes and to outright delete some others.
Hi great video can you do a spiderweb cause it's hard to use the tool for it or even can you use this tool on a spiderweb to shape it to a certain shape like for a motorcycle front like doing it in a v shape by stretching it thank u I hope you understand thank you 😊
Hi Ida! If you are making slight edits, the point editing works well but it is time consuming to reshape it all together. In that case, you may want to search through Design Bundles for already created shapes to save yourself some time!
Really enjoy your videos. I'm a Silhouette user and they are so helpful. My question is about comparing point editing to warping an object. It looks as if they are related functions and can do sort of the same thing. I don't know when you would use one vs. the other.
Hey Sherry! I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos! I would say that Point Editing I use more for manipulating small parts or correcting lines that need to be smoothed out. The Warp tool is, in my opinion, a different class because it will allow you to manipulate an entire design in a smoother fashion (such as curving the entire bottom of the text instead of trying to do it yourself with individual points). Hope this helps! ---Becky
From what I have found, Yes provided your tablet is plugged in when you open the software and you configure it in the Wacom control panel to use with it. You can not configure it unless the software is open and running. Then you can add the software and you will only have to do that once. 😊
I'm trying to create a birthday card that uses the outline of text as the edge, but can't figure out how to make it so the text edge is cut, but not the whole letters. Please help!
Sooooo, you can't join nodes? I am having to re-create part of a letter S and I can't figure out how to join the 2 parts of the S. Normally I would use Inkscape, but someone implied to me that my silhouette is easier to use. So far, I disagree.
Hey Melissa! As you can see, this is just an introductory video, but if you ever have requests, you can leave them here in the comments. If we don't have a video on that topic yet, I'll definitely add it to my list and if we do, I'll link it for you. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Ì am a novice with the Silhouette Cameo and I'm making names and years to put on ornaments. The point editing comes up and I don't want to use it. I'm trying to change 2021 to 2022 and when I click on the one point editing comes up and the only option I basically get is to delete the 1. How to I turn off point editing off, altogether?
Hi Colleen! To exit Point Editing mode, click on a blank part of your screen or click on the Select Tool located to the left of the workspace. - Dawn 🙂
Hey Ellie! Do you mean designs you purchase from Design Bundles with the Plus Subscription? If so, you are definitely able to use for commercial use to make finished goods. There are more details on the website, I'll link it for you below. Hope this helps! ---Becky designbundles.net/license
If you mean the silhouette studio subscription then alot can't be used for business. That's design bundles and creative fabrica are so brilliant as they include a license for selling xx
Our apologies for the delay in response and we hope you've found the answer but if you are still having any troubles, please feel free to write in to mail@designbundles.net or join us in a live chat so we can help with your next project! - Brittany

Hello I absolutely love your videos, I have a question when I break a path I try to put with other point but it won’t connect, please HELP
Yes it looks like that lots of points I don't know which to grab to pull it thank you .
You can simplify the amount of nodes in the "Point Editing" option!
Oh ok thank u

Thank you for this video. My software does not have the star tool. Any ideas?
Hi Deb! What version of Silhouette are you using? - Dawn
@@DesignBundles I had 4.4 with no star tool, then updated to 4.5 also with no star tool.
@@DesignBundles basic version.

Can you use a Wacom drawing tablet with Silhouette? I just picked on up but I’m having some issues with it

I can't get the point editing window to close and the window is cutting off texts
I have used it many times...hoping to find out something new or a quicker way to do some things

@@DesignBundles I did learn a couple things about the photo cropping. That was cool
What if you dont have 2 red dots to connect? this is driving me crazy and I cant see to be able to fix my design to fill it with color
Have you tried double clicking the design? It should come up with all the points (nodes) then! -Brittany
