I've shot woodchucks in the head at 60 yards (CCI mini-mags), kills them dead on the spot. I've shot rabbits with CCI .22 LR standard velocity ammo and they've been killed outright with it. Too many people think the .22 LR is only for close range.

Thanks for watching! I agree that an accurate 22 can be effective at quite a long range (relatively).

22 lr is a highly underestimated round.
Any one of those shots to center mass means either death or an immediate trip to the hospital .. otherwise death later.
With a Ruger 10/22, you can get multiple shots in the same hole , at 100 yards, within half a second.
This video shows why 22 lr is the foundation of my shtf kit.
It's not a laser pointer at 400 yards, nor will it penetrate an engine block, but neither does it's ammo weigh much , and it's quiet.

I think you should revisit this, with the Velocitor. It has more energy at 100 yards than the lighter or slower rounds. Would like to see it in clay, too.

      Are you guys kidding me?
Why is it always the people that don’t know much about guns that wanna come here to talk about them like they have a clue?
I’m not trying to be a butthead here but seriously if you think hitting 3 cans with 7 rounds with a bolt action 22lr is “a victory in itself” then you clearly have no clue what you’re talking about the 22lr at 100 yards should be pinging golf balls with every shot with ease
If you wanna doubt me then put your money where your mouth is and I’ll make a video with a Ruger 10/22 to prove my point and that bolt action should be even more accurate because the 10/22 is semi auto
My only complaint is I see a ton of dummies come on here acting like they’re some type of expert telling people stupid stuff like you’d have a better chance hitting a bear with the stock of an AR15 5.56 than shooting him because the bullets will ricochet off these super bears titanium hide lol and it’s absolutely idiotic then you get people coming here to learn about guns that’s going to pick that AR15 up and treat it like a daisy BB gun with no respect and end up blowing holes in there buddies because they read somewhere on UA-cam where an idiot told them it wasn’t even powerful enough to penetrate the hide on a bear when with a few minutes of searching you can find where Eskimos use the 5.56 to kill POLAR BEARS which are the big brother of the grizzly so with their theory it would take an nuclear bomb to kill a polar bear
Listen it’s not the preferred caliber to do the job but a 5.56 round traveling over 3,000 FPS with 1,200psi will put down ANYTHING on this planet that’s made of flesh and has a pulse and if you don’t believe that then you’re just ignorant
It is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life a 22lr took the world record grizzly with one shot so please stop acting like you know what you’re talking about when you obviously don’t

For small game hunting I personally like CCI Minimags. If I want "more" I go to 17 HMR instead of hypervelocity. But I find 1200 Fps +/- great for small game. I do also prefer FMJ in 17 HMR for small game if I use it I want a pass thru instead of expansion at 17 velocities doesn't destroy that much meat.

Good job, great video, have you ever thought of saving your chicken and rib bones and such, and using a large ziploc bag putting the bones in it, then adding the dog food or other canned food that might be past its expiration like pork and beans or green beans or spaghetti o's or dinner scraps etc. and a little water with the key to get the bag nice and full, and putting a old piece of goodwill store levis or leather or a heavy duty cotton cloth etc in front of it? And to make sure you catch the rounds behind it just use a old folded up blanket folded in a 12x12 square. I think this closely simulates what 22lr's really do on small game, and looking at recovered projectiles from game as large as coyote and as small as rabbit and comparing them to the bag tests they are very similar looking projectiles. Sounds like a lot of work but really its not, you just collect it over a week, and it's free basically. Some of my favorite small game rimfire ammo is CCI velocitors for coyote and winchester 42gr power points for rabbit in the black box, not the white box, and Fed Automatch for the real small stuff like squirrel or rodents.

Thanks for watching! The bag of bones target sounds like a good idea! It would be a huge mess, but the dog food is too.
I've tested the Velocitor and a bunch of other rounds in previous videos. Definitely think the Velocitor is one of the top hypervelocity rounds. You should check out Winchester Hypervelocity too, hits very hard.

Nice! Thing is, shooting different ammo from the one specific ammo zero is tough with most rifles. Which one gave the best group out of those at 100 yrd? Your shooting is perfectly capable of more yardage with one good grouping ammo. I'd love to see you stretch out to 125, 150, 175, 200!
I'm betting beyond 225 or 250 before groups get really loose. Make sure your scope is tracking right at 50 . Just shoot at the bottom of a tall box, then begin adjusting elevation up until you are satisfied or run out of elevation on turret.(makeing sure gun is level) As long as the string is straight moving up you are good to go on elevation. Same for windage if questionable. An app I use for distance is Strelok. Very good app. for shooters like us.
Sorry to ramble, but I really wanna see you put that .22 out there.

  • @UntitledSpaghetti2
    @UntitledSpaghetti2 4 роки тому +1

How about a chrono and penetration comparison of CCI Stinger & Velocitor vs CCI 22 WRF ammo.
I gave up my 22lr for a 22 magnum because the WRFs are low power rounds from a magnum rifle. The Velocitor & Stingers are the top end of LR ammo, so if you need more power your out of luck. The WRF on that other hand can be used for small game and I can carry a spare magazine of full power magnums if I see a coyote or hog. Plus they use true jacketed hollow points rather than copper plated, heeled bullets.
I think a head to head comparison of these three would be well received.
Maybe a side by side comparison of 22 lr, 22 wrf, 22 wmr, so viewers can see the difference between the three cartridges.
